Ruins
After Sam went through the tree trunk, she didn't expect anything to happen. It was just a tree, why would anything happen? When she finally stepped through the tree, she felt cold rushing through her fabric shoe. Sam looked up. She was in the middle of a winter wonderland. It looked nothing like the back yard of her Aunt and Uncles house.
She was in a beautiful forest, and every tree was coated in fluffy white snow. She stepped out into the open to observe her surrounding further.
"Sam! Thank god you're ok!" Doug yelled, coming out of the tree as well.
"Doug! What are you doing here?" Sam ran to hug her cousin.
"We couldn't let you go to, wherever this is, by yourself!"
"Where's Anna and Brian?" Just as San had made this comment, the two appeared through the tree.
"Sam! Doug! You're both ok!" Anna ran to hug her cousins, joined by Brian.
"Where are we?" Brian asked.
"No idea." Sam looked around. "Let's explore!" She took off running.
"Sam, wait!" Doug called. It was too late, Sam was already deep into the woods. The cousins had not choice but to go after her.
"Sam! Think rationally!" Anna yelled as they grew closer to their youngest cousin who had suddenly stopped. "We have no idea where we are, and it's not-" Anna stopped talking as she saw the reason Sam had suddenly stopped.
Before them was the ruins of an ancient castle. The stone had several cracks in it, and snow covered all surfaces. Snowflakes began to fall from the sky, making the already freezing cousins even colder.
"What is this place?" Brian asked in amazement.
"Well, this certainly isn't England, because there aren't any ruins like this that I know of." Anna commented.
"I say we explore." Sam started walking around.
"Sam, wait." Doug ordered. "I'm sick of you running off. You ran off after Jeff was mean to you, you ran off when you wanted to explore, and now you're going to run off again!" He began to pace back and forth. "We are in an unfamiliar place with no signs of human life, so we need to be careful about where we go-" As he finished his sentence, Doug fell down a rather large hole. A thunk was heard from the above cousins when he hit the ground.
"Doug!" Anna cried. "Are you ok?"
"I'm fine! But there's no way to get up! I'll have to go down one of these tunnels." Doug called back up.
"We shouldn't separate." Sam stated. "I'm going down." Before Brian or Anna could stop her, she had jumped down the home to join Doug.
"Samantha Marie Williams!" Doug cried when he saw San had followed him. "We are in a dangerous place, and I get stuck down here, and now you're stuck-" Doug, for what felt like the thousandth time that day, was interrupted by a man placing his hand over his mouth and grabbing his wrists. Another man was doing the same to Sam.
"Help!" She managed to scream before the man muffled all sounds. The two cousins were dragged away without any word from their kidnappers.
"Oh no!" Brian cried. "Something's happened to them!"
"What do we do?" Anna was on the verge of tears.
"We think like Sam." Brian said confidently before jumping down through the hole. A reluctant Anna followed him.
"Now what?" Anna asked. Unfortunately, their plan to follow their cousins wasn't the smartest, and they too were taken hostage.
The four were taken to a dark room, so dark they could only faintly make out he figure of several men holding arrows, ready to fire at the cousins. There was in man, however, who wasn't holding an arrow, he was standing with his arms crossed.
"Who are you?" He asked in a deep Spanish accent. When the cousins refused to answer, he repeated his question. "I'll say one more time, who are you?"
"We won't reveal our identity until you reveal yours." Doug said confidently.
"That's going to be a problem, because you have no defense mechanism, and we do. I suggest you do as we say." Another deep Spanish voice said.
"I want a lawyer." Brian sated.
"A what?" The first voice said.
"I'm assuming you're the police and were being interrogated to a crime. I want a lawyer."
"Where are you from boy?"
"We're not answering that." Sam said, stepping forwards towards the man with no arrow. The other men with arrows prepared to shoot.
"Then you'll have to stay in here then." All the men cleared the room. A lock was heard, and the cousins were left alone in the dark.
