151. The Secret Of The Lab

Rose: Oh my gosh!

Ken: Unbelievable.

Luke: Huh?

Tiffany was taken aback. She knew her own strength. Strength enough to break rocks and boulders. Even dent metal. But this....? There wasn't a scratch on the floor.

Julianne: An electro magnetic shielding field. What do you think?

Rose: That's so amazing, Mrs Hunter!

Julianne: Oh, thank you Rose. (to Tiffany) So, as you can see, you can fight here to your hearts content. The electromagnetic field cushions all damage and sound here. Nothing short of a nuclear bomb could even crack these lab walls.

Rose: Amazing!

Luke: You mean...

Julianne: Uh huh.

She knew exactly what he meant.

Luke looked at the ground with a tinge of nervousness.

Julianne: It's ok. Go on....

He took a moment to take a breath of air.

Luke: Alright.

He punched the ground with a medium amount of strength and, to everyone's surprise, except Max and Julianne's, the wall didn't even get a dent.

Instead, a sort of wave of energy emanated from the point of contact and spread throughout the walls.

Luke: Woah...

Rose: Oh my gosh! That's amazing!

Luke: Yeah....

Max: My mom's lab is basically indestructible. Believe me. I've tried.

Julianne rubbed and messed up her son's hair, much to his annoyance, and much to Ken, Rose, and Luke's amusement.

Julianne: Oh you....

Max: Mooooooommmm!

Julianne: (giggle) Sorry, hon. Oh, and I almost forgot.

She re-summoned her computer from the floor and started typing in commands.

Julianne: Let's see.. here... there...

They simply watched her in silence, all wondering what she was doing.

Julianne: ..... and...... done!

And then suddenly, large white cubes morphed from the ground all around the floor, much to all of their amazement.

Julianne: In protonite labs, we call these training blocks.

She walked up to one of them and gave it a tap.

Julianne: We use them for training.

Electricity began to come out of her hand, and she blasted the training block, creating a hole in it.

Rose: Woah!

Luke: Cool....

Julianne: Think so?

Rose: Yeah. That's so amazing.

Julianne: If you think that's amazing....

She walked back to her computer.

Julianne: ... then you'll love this.

After a push of a few buttons, the hole in the training block was automatically repaired.

Rose: Oh my gosh!

Julianne: That's right. These blocks can be re-used as often as you want. So, don't fret about destroying them.

Rose: Really!? That's amazing.

Rose herself ran off to one of them.

Julianne: Go on. I'm sure sirenite psychic powers can work on those rocks.

Rose: Ok!

She focuused her powers on the rock and lifted it.

Rose: It... it's just like a boulder.

Julianne: That it is.

Rose then gently placed ot back down.

Rose: Thanks so much, Mrs Hunter.

Julianne: No problem, Rose.

As for Ken....

Ken: (thinking: Forming objects out of what seems to be thin air. Just how advanced is protonite technology. Can I even.... Can my bionics even...)

Julianne: So, any questions?

Tiffany, Luke, and Ken looked at each other for a moment.

Luke: I think we're good.

Ken: Agreed.

Tiffany: I have one.

Julianne: Hmm?

They all turned to Tiffany, who, at the moment, seemed to be struggling to speak.

Tiffany: I just.....

Ken: (thinking: No.... she wouldn't.)

Tiffany: I just want to know.... why...

Now, this was an interesting situation. Tiffany could not say it too hesitantly because it may alert Max or Rose of something. But she also couldn't be too direct, lest she upset Julianne Hunter.

Tiffany: ...why you'd go so far for us?

She wanted to be respectful, but she needed to know. Not just for herself but also for her team. She wouldn't want to put herself and the others in a bad situation.

Julianne: Oh, that. (thinking: She's tougher than I thought.)

Ken: (thinking: Oh Tiff... how predictable you can be.... Ah, well....at least you didn't talk about Monday night. Now that would be a serious problem.)

Max: Tiffany?

Tiffany: I am on no way trying to undermine you or your kindness or hospitality. It's just.... I want to.....

She couldn't go any further. Her lips stopped.

Rose: Tiff..... (thinking: Is something wrong?)

Julianne: Its all alright.

Tiffany: Hmm?

Julianne: The thing is....

She surprised herself with how honest she was becoming about this. Well, there was some deceit, but it was almost completely honest.

Julianne: ... well.... it's just.... I'd rather I got to see the people my son fights alongside more often.
