126. The Finer Things Of Speed
Of course, said numbers would have made no sense to anyone who didn't know much about acceleration.
Rose: Uhh...... what numbers?
Ken: To be more precise, it's not his speed that fascinates me. Well, to be even more clear about that....
He fast forwarded the footage, showing Max moving at incredible speeds, turning and twisting across the crater.
Ken: ... It would also seem that Max has an exceptional control over his super speed, and so he's not just mindlessly runnung around.
Max: Yeah, yeah, obviously. So, what's up?
Ken: Hmph. However, what is truly intriguing is this.
He returned to the footage of Max in his starting position and played just until he'd begun to run, this time highlighting one of the numbers on the bottom of the screen.
Ken: His acceleration.
Rose: Huh?
Max: Hmm?
Luke: Oh, I see...
Tiffany: His acceleration?
Ken: As you may or may not know, most car companies rate the acceleration of their car based on how much time it takes for them to go from 0 to 60mph?
Luke: Hmm. True.
Ken: So, you've noticed?
Luke: Yeah...
Ken: The lowest recorded time taken to get to 60mph is 1.2 seconds. With Max, it's...
And the highlighted number, in an almost strange sense, loudly sounded in their minds.
Ken: .... 0.13 seconds, which is unprecedented.
Those very words shocked them.
Tiffany: But that's.....
Rose: So cool!
Max, smugly, rubbed his nose.
Max: Yeah, I'm pretty awesome.
Ken: No kidding.
Max: Huh?
It was an odd thing to receive an honest complement for Max. Moreso from Ken, whom Max had already figured out tended to be sarcastic.
Ken: You have an acceleration of over 200 metres per second squared, which, quite frankly, is ridiculous.
Rose: Really?
Luke: I'll say...
Luke wasn't too unknowledgeable about cars, and so this number did actually mean something to him.
Tiffany: I see.... (thinking: Could it be...?)
As for Tiffany, she knew what it meant.
Max: Huh....
Ken: You didn't know?
Max: Well....
He seemed to be in deep thought.
Max: My mom did say something about that being exceptional amongst....
For the briefest moment, he paused before he continued. Almost as if he was in seriously deep and troubling thought. However, while this was noticed, it was hardly registered.
Max: .... other protonites. Yeah....
Ken: So, your acceleration is higher than that of most of your species?
Max: Yeah!
He was mighty proud of that fact.
Ken: (smirking) Heh... well, well...... (thinking: Ever full of surprises, I see.)
Rose: Wow, Max! You're so talented!
Luke: Gotta admit, if it's what I think it is, that is pretty insane.
Max simply scratched his head, smiling and continuing to enjoy the compliments.
Tiffany: Alright then. On to the next one.
Max: Next one?
Tiffany: Yeah. Up next is your electrokinesis.
Max: My electrokine.....
After all the excitement with his speed, he'd almost forgotten what they were doing at the time.
Max: Oh, right.
He dashed in front of all of them.
Max: Alright....
And then cracked his knuckles.
Max: .... so, how are we gonna do this?
Tiffany: Rose?
Rose: Right!
Tiffany: And make it a big one this time.
Rose: A big one?
Tiffany: Yeah
Rose: Ok!
She immediately began to look for one while Ken, after promptly shutting off his screen, directed her to a very specific rock.
She used her powers to, once more, pluck a massive rock from the walls of the cliff.
This time, she could be seen visibly straining herself to carry it.
As for the boulder, it was heavier than all the five previous rocks together.
Just as she was about to put it on the ground, all the while almost dropping it, Luke came up from under it and grabbed it.
Rose: (slightly strained) Thanks.. Luke.
Luke: Don't worry about it.
He dropped the massive rock onto the ground, but even gently, it made a massive thud.
Max: Sheesh!
It wasn't just heavy, but also incredibly tall.
Luke: Well, that'll do. Right Tiff?
Tiffany: Yeah
She walked up to it and patted it a few times.
Max: So... I have to blast that?
