119. Tiffany's Text

That very evening.....

Maximillian Hunter.

He could be seen skateboarding across the street again. This time, unlike the last time, because he had a particular destination in mind.

It was all because of a certain message he'd gotten from Tiffany earlier that day while video gaming.

At that time...

Tiffany: (text) Meet us here at seven pm on the dot. Don't be late.

In most cases, punctuality was not one of Max's best traits. In fact, in most cases, he would think to stretch the time just a bit. By say.... five, ten,... maybe fifteen minutes. Maybe thirty.

But in this case.... finally seeing people he liked hanging out with. He couldn't help it. He had to come early.

After all, it might be mission related, and he couldn't wait to show his mettle and fight more.

He smirked as he skated, pulling off a kick flip as he turned to change streets. A fight? A mission? Or just plain old chilling? He couldn't wait.

The location to which he'd been called was an odd one. It didn't have a name.

In fact, he'd just received a location with coordinates. And so, the place was probably pretty obscure.

But that meant little. That just made it all the more likely to make it a mission.

He felt adrenaline pump through his veins.

Max: (thinking: I can't wait!)

He turned again to another street.

The amount of time he would take to make it there had already been calculated by his phone, and he'd timed it accordingly so as to make it there with time to spare.

An odd thought occurred to him in the meantime. When was the last time he'd gone so far so as to go somewhere on time?

But before he could elaborate, he heard a sound. A car's horn, to be exact. It sounded loudly, and there wasn't that many a car around, and so Max turned, wondering as to why that was.

Max: Huh?

The one who'd sounded the horn was no other than Luke, only that, he wasn't in a truck, he was in a car. A pretty expensive looking one, to be exact.

Luke: Hey, Max.

Max: Luke?

On the shot gun seat, he could see Tiffany, and in the window next to the side walk...

Rose: Hi Max!

Ken: Lovely skate you seem to be having.

Max approached the car

Max: You guys are... here?

Ken: Well, with Luke being the only one who can drive, he remains our most efficient mode of transport.

Max: Wait, then why didn't you guys pick me up?

Luke, Ken, and Rose all turned to a now pouting Tiffany.

Tiffany: (sighs) Like I said, I thought he was going to super speed there. But apparently... you decided to skate there.

Max: (shrugging) Hey, whatever works, right?

Tiffany: (sighs) Whatever...

Rose giggled at her remark.

Luke: Hey, get in. There's still some room in the back, 'less you wanna race.

Max: Oh, is that a challenge?

Max and Luke immediately glared at each other, not in an unfriendly way, but in a somewhat competitive way. Then, Ken suddenly retorted....

Ken: Interesting as that would be, I think it would be in the best of our interests if you spared your energy.

Max: Spared?

His mind immediately went into overdrive. Spare? Energy? That could only mean one thing. There was a mission.

Max: Does that mean.... we're gonna fight something?

He was incredibly excited.

Ken: Hmmm? No. Where would you get that idea?

Max: Oh....

He immediately became depressed, muh to Ken's and Luke's amusement.

Rose: You guys...

Tiffany: (sighs) Just get in Max, I'll explain on the way.

Max: (sulking) Sure..

And with that, he entered the car, taking a window seat, seated next to Rose.

It was an oddly comfy car. Comfy enough that it got his attention.

Max: By the way, whose car is this?

Luke: Oh, that?

He started the car and sped off into the highway.

Luke: It belongs to Timo. He lent it to me while the van got repairs.

Max: Really?

Rose: I know, right? Timo is so sweet.

Max: No kidding. I've never heard of a boss willing to give his employee his car.

Luke bit his tongue. He would say nothing. After all, Max didn't know what Timo was to him.

Tiffany turned to Luke with sympathy, as she was one of the few that understood.

Max gave the car a longer look. Just how on earth did selling pizza get this man Timo such an incredible car? It wasn't his first time in an expensive car, but it was among the better ones he'd been inside of.

Tiffany started, perhaps to change the subject.
