Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5
So a couple days ago I was looking through Christian memes/quotes just trying to you know get a little inspiration and a laugh or two when I came across one meme (or quote, whichever you want to call it) in particular that made me stop and really think about it. It was about how we say or are really motivated to commit in that one moment to give Jesus complete control of our life, then later demand it back when we don't like what He seems to be doing or realize how hard it is. And that really resonated with me because, that's a thing I struggle with.
I'll say "today everything changing I'm going to be in bible more. I'm going to completely trust Him and not do this or that." And that goes on for like a week at most till I'm back to my old ways and procrastinating about reading the bible till right before I go to bed which means I end up falling asleep reading and not finishing. And trying to grab the wheel I just so confidently placed in God's hands.
It's hard you guys. I know it's hard to let God have control when everything around you seems like it will never got better or the things we have to go through to achieve it seem so hard to reach.
And I know, me saying that and then you have to trust Him and let Him take control will probably be confusing and probably half frustrating as well. Because it might seem like "I just don't get it". "I can't understand what you're going through" so I have "no right" to tell you to trust in God.
Listen, I may not personally know your circumstances and most likely I never will, but I know we are to trust and obey God even when it's hard. Even when it might be the most difficult thing in the world. Trust Him.

Trust or technically lack thereof, seems to be the issue most times when we try and do it ourselves. And actually both forms could be applied to this.
1: being as before stated "the firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability or strength of someone or something".
And 2: an arrangement whereby a person (a trustee as know as God in this context) holds property (also known as our lives) as it's nominal owner for the good of one or more beneficiaries (also known as us and everyone we interact with.)
You see, when we don't trust God with our lives giving Him the soul control that will benefit us and everyone around, our lives go downhill. Our problems become impossible because we don't trust Him.
Sometimes we think we can't trust Him with the plan for our lives because in our minds it may look crazy and we don't want anyone else to make our decisions. We don't know how it will all work out so sometimes we want to stick with what we know. And sometimes what we know or tend to revert back to is the flesh. Which is a fleshly instinct.
While we're on this earth we're never going to completely get rid of sin or our fleshly sides and as I've said it more than occasion and will probably be saying it till the day I die. Flesh is flawed. It makes mistakes. It doesn't want to trust God. It can't see the big picture and doesn't trust in it. The times when we falter in our walk and go back to whatever we were doing before because 1: we didn't trust Him or 2: "it just seemed too hard, was all fleshly habit.
Say you're at a car lot buying a car to get you on the road to somewhere amazing. There's two types of cars you can chose from. One seems cheaper, easy to use and is standing front and center ready for you to drive off in. It seems you have this instinctual impulse to get it but the thing about that car is, it won't take you out of city limits. In fact it will end up breaking down.
The next option is more expensive but it's already been paid for by a wonderful person who I'm sure you've guessed already. This car though lies way on the other side of the lot and is hard to find. It will take more effort to get to drive impulsively but it will get you where you're going.
If you haven't caught on yet the first car model is called "the flesh" and the second is called "trust in God."
We can't normally lean on our own impulsive understanding with the way we deal with things because our own impulsive understanding does not know what's coming. Our own understanding did not create us and our own understanding does not have the best plan for our lives.
Our own impulsive understanding when we're not trusting God is the flesh. And the Flesh Is Flawed. Our own understanding on its own is flawed. We as everyday Christians living for Christ are flawed. The impulsive way we want to deal with problems aside from God is one big messy pile of misconception.
See now when we're trusting God our impulsive actions are way different. But in order to get to place where most of our instinctual actions are godly it will take time and a lot of trust. In order to achieve a way of acting that's nine times out of ten Christ like it will take effort. Which is why you have to trust in God.
Trust God even when it seems impossible. Trust in God even when we're lying in bed at night wondering how things will work out. Trust God even when the thing He tells us to walk away from is the one thing we think we can't live without. Trust in Him, and let Him have control. Give Jesus the wheel get in the passenger seat and tie your hands to the dashboard if that's what it takes for you not to reach out and grab it. Let Him have control when your life's going through a foggy place and trust that He will take you through.
