Chapter 5

The next morning, I decided that I would try to be a witness to my friends. Sure, they hurt me, but that doesn't mean I can't help them! They need to surrender to Jesus, and give their heart to Him.
And I had to find out who stole the items we need for soccer. This was a mystery, and it was up to me, to solve it, but with the help of Jesus, of course.

"Rachel!"
Someone hollered, and I knew that voice.

"Caroline!" I ran downstairs.
Caroline was my cousin, and I was always glad to see her.

"Wow, it's great to see you, Rachel!" She said, smiling at me.

"You too, just one question," she looked up at me.

"Hmm?"

"Why are you here?"

"You mean I can't just visit my cousin?"

"No, you cannot. Knowing you, there's a reason, there's always a reason." I raised my eyebrow, waiting for her to reply.

"Okay, fine. I heard about your dad, so I thought I'd pay you a little visit. I know how it is to lose, or almost lose, a parent." And when she said that, her father walked in, her mother died when she was five, so she didn't really get to know her mom.

"Well, thanks, but you don't have to," I said, looking down.

"Of course I did," she said, and walked over to Lila, then held her, "Aren't you just the cutest thing! Yes you are! Oh yes you are!"
Everyone treated Lila like she was just one years old, again, but Lila didn't seem to care, I think she likes being the "cute one."

"Caroline, since you're here, why don't we spend some time together?" I asked.

"Okay, but first, can we get something to eat? Because I could eat a cow!"

"Okay, but just don't eat one," I said, walking over to the kitchen.

Caroline rolled her eyes, and tried to help me in the kitchen, but I wouldn't let her. Yeah, I was getting to be like dad...

"Let me do that!" She grabbed at the pan.

"No. I don't need help, go sit down."

"Rachel!"

"I mean it! Go!" I pointed to the table, making her go relax.
What? I like doing things myself.

-

I went over to my friends, but I brought Caroline with me.

"Hey, guys, I think we got of on the wrong foot, forgive me? Oh, and of course, you remember Caroline?" I asked, smiling at them.

"Oh, I forgive y-" Bridget was interrupted by Dianna, "No. I do not forgive you. But Caroline, you're free to hang out with us."

Yeah, she likes my cousin better than she likes me!

"Oh, no thanks, Danna?" Caroline answered, staying by my side.

"Dianna," she corrected her name.

"Sorry."

"Dianna, please. I said I'm sorry, what am I supposed to do to make you forgive me?"

"Nothing." She replied, simply.

"Dianna, not cool! You're suppose to forgive and forget. Like Jesus forgives and forgets our sins, after we ask for forgiveness."
Did I mention? Caroline was a Christian too, her ways of coming off kind, not rude, really makes me want to smirk, because Dianna is her friend, and Dianna says she's not "religious," when it's a Relationship. With Jesus.

"Did I mention? I'm not religious," she whipped her hair, and walked away with everyone else.

Sometimes, I think they're jealous of me. Which is wrong.

-

"How can you and Dianna even get along?" I asked, as we walked home.

"Well, I try to treat her as kind as I can, maybe I can get through to her, and be a "light," to her. You could reach out to her, Rachel."
That was actually helpful, and good advice for me.

"Thanks, Caroline. That was actually helpful!" I said.

I went to sneak around Dianna's house. I wouldn't call it trespassing, simply...discovering! Okay, it's totally trespassing!

"Rachel, are you sure this is right? I don't think its the right thing to do. We should just ask her. She'd be honest," Caroline said.

"No, she wouldn't. I know her, she wouldn't be honest." I replied, still sneaking around her house, with Caroline way behind me.

I peeked into one of the windows to her house, and saw soccer uniforms lying around the house, and soccer balls! Why didn't I think of coming here earlier?!

"Woah, Caroline, look!"

"What- woah!"

"Sh! Come on," I tried getting them back. Not stealing, I'm taking them back to everyone who loves to play soccer. But I knew I had to reach out to Dianna and the others.

We snuck back to the soccer field, where the coach was getting ready to leave.

"Coach Davis! I finally solved the mystery! Dianna Willis stole the soccer supplies!" I ran over to her.

"Oh, thank you dear!" She said, smiling at me.

"Of course, coach Davis!" I smiled.

-

I had to stay at Caroline's place. I couldn't stop thinking about why Dianna would steal the supplies. She loves soccer!

Yeah, I was wondering, until the next day...
