River

The pain that cut into my wrist from the handcuffs was mildly irritating, but what was more painful is the swelling and bruising on the left side of my face, where the bastard cope backhand me. His reason is getting lippy, back taking, and being a stupid kid that need to learn the lesson about authority. He had left when someone came over the intercom telling him to take a break. I sat alone in a small cubical room with one light a two-way mirror and a door.

The door finally opened after at least and hour of me being in solitude, and a new man I had never seen before entered the room. He sat down opposite me with placing two big files on the table and one that looked empty. He smiled as he took a drink of his coffee.

"hello River, I'm office Marin" he said as he opened the two big files and I could see a two mug shots, one of my father and the other of Dante. "It seems you are a good boy, you have no criminal record before today incident, unlike your father, and your girlfriend's father" I scoffed

"that little brat is not my girlfriend" he looked at me surprised

"my apologies for making assumptions about the situation, mind telling me what you were doing with the girl then?" he said in a polite voice, but what he didn't realize was I was trained in the school I was sent to all the tricks and games cop like to do to get information out of you, so I smiled and lend forward the best I could with my hand tied behind the chair

"Mind telling me what I'm being charged with because you can't hold me unless you charge me and if you're going to charge me, I would like my lawyer" I smiled sitting back as Officer Marin smile faded

"You're going to be charged with using excessive forces river, you will most likely be fined and serve some probation time, being it your first infraction, but we could make a deal and none of this would matter, I can make it all go away" I started laughing, classic line not even try to sweeten the deal

"no thanks, I would like to go now, or get me my lawyer" he closed the envelopes

"you're making a big mistake son, the people you're surrounding yourself with bad and dangerous and I'm only trying to save you from spending your life behind bars" I smiled at him not responding as he got visible red in the face and stormed out of the room.

I laughed as I tried to lean back in the metal chair as best I could, but didn't help. I guess I had been there for three or four hours, Dante must be aware of what had taken places at the mall and was probably pissed. My father was probably ferrous that I had screwed this up and didn't handle the situation better. I took a deep breath and closed my eye waiting for the next attempt in getting me to flip on my father or Dante. I must have drifted off to sleep somehow in this really uncomfortable position, but I had been in worse. I was waken when the door slammed open and a man in a classy suit walked in followed by two officers.

"unhand cuff him now" the man said in a forceful tone as the officers that looked younger than the earlier ones rushed around obeying the name "what happened to your face?" he said eyeing me as I brought my hand to feel my now swollen lip

"just some cop thinking he was a bad as" he chuckled as I stood up stretching

"Well River, my name is Mr. Larzbin your lawyer from now on, Dante hired me to take care of this problem" I smiled, relieved as he motioned for me to leave the room "Dante and your father are outside waiting for you outside" he said as I stepped out into the bright hallway.

I walked down the hallway seeing multiple two-way mirrors some empty some occupied, but I really just felt like going home. I stopped when I reached a door with a scanning device, as one of the officers before hurried in front of me and scanned his id card and it opened with a buzz. The door opened up into a large office room where some cops sat working some chatted the far wall held a couple occupied cell. I smiled and waved at the officer that hit me early this afternoon standing next to office Marin. we continued walking until we reached two sets of security doors that led to a waiting room that was filled with mostly drugged up looking people.

"Dante and your father are outside waiting in the car, I will deal with all the paperwork, so you are free to go, and enjoy your evening" I nodded as I went to the door that led outside.

I was dark out and I walked down the large set of staircase and looked around. I saw my car which made me happy and standing next to it was my father and Dante chatting away. I walked over quickly so they didn't have to wait for me more than they already had. When they noticed my approach both smiled, which caught me off guard because I was sure I would have gotten punished for what had happened.

"River there you are, how was your first time in an incarceration facility" Dante said with laughter in his voice

"wonderful, just as I expected" I said nervously unsure if this was a setup

"Wonderful, we picked your car up, we will speak more when we get back to the house" he said as med Dad tossed me my keys and smiled as he and Dante walked to black car parked next to mine.

I drove back to Dante house following them closely, I felt unsure about what had happened. It was possible that they were not angry, but I figure it was an act they were putting on because we were directly in front of a police department. After the long drive back, I parked my car and head up the front steps waiting for Dante and my father were laughing getting out of their car slowly. They were walking up the stairs when Dante finally noticed me standing waiting for them

"River will you go retrieve Jane for me, I would like to speak to both of you at the same time to make it easier" he said as I went in and ran up the stairs

I took the stairs by two because I was in a rush to get Jane and drag her down to have this conversation. Plus I was a little relieved that she was already home and safe, which nobody informed me. I knocked on the door and an angry look Jane opened the door as she rolled her eyes and flung the door the rest of the way open causing it to slam against the wall. I was shocked at her actions tell I heard the sequel and looked up to see the girl from the mall I had hooked up with early that day running toward me.

I mentally rolled my eyes forgetting that I had ordered her to bring Jane's bags home when I discovered she had taken off. She threw her arms around me and I wanted to just scrap her from me. See she was a girl who was good for one thing and she already served her purpose, but she was clearly a clinger. I slowly unwound her arms from around me as she tried giving me a sad face.

"What's wrong baby, you don't look happy to see me" I tried to smile and please her so I could get Jane and leave

"I'm happy, I just have work to do, and that requires Jane to come down to her father's office now, and I can't be late" she nodded as Jane purposely bumped into us as she left the room

"okay I'll wait here for you to come back and then we can have fun" I nodded, but had no plans to come back to her

I quickly ran to catch up with Jane was walking quickly down the stairs. She glared at me when I slowed my pace to match hers, she was clearly mad as she smacked my arm. It didn't hurt, but I played along and grabbed where she hit me to make her attempt feel better. She stopped walking and glared at me, so I stood there waiting for what she was going to say

"don't ever invite you whore here again, I just spent the last two-hour listen to every detail about, your little sexually meet with her" she said ferrous and I smiled as she ranted because I was finding it increasingly more satisfying that she was so jealous about the girl. "why are you smiling?" she said even madder

"I just think it's so funny how jealous you are, plus I didn't invite her when you ran off I told her to bring your shopping bags home" I said as she looked irritated and started walking again toward the set of bubble doors that held her father's office

We walked in as Dante and my father were talking as Jane's mother and mine were leaving the room. We stopped at the bottom of the stairs, as they both turned to look at us. I was waiting for the moment to come where I was punished for what I let this happen under my watch

"so Jane, is there something you would like to say" Dante said as he had an amused expression on his face, and I could hear Jane scoff

"I'm sorry River for running off and not obeying you in the coffee shop causing you to get in a fight" she said in a tone that I find funny and I tried not to laugh

"And what else Jane" Dante said with the same amused expression I wanted to have

"I will be on my best behavior and not try to run away from you again" she said crossing her arms in front of her chest "can I go now" she snapped

"no, I need both of you to start taking this serious, what happened today ruined my plan to keep River off the radar of the cops and my enemy, and not even within 24 hour of getting signed those plans were ruined" he said not happy anymore as I thought what he said which confused me to hear why he did things and what his reason was. "now get out of my sight, I'm tired of looking at you both" he said setting down in his chair

Both Jane and I turned and left the room quickly and quietly as I kept trying to figure out what Dante meant by his plan for me. I figure once Jane got married I would be reassigned maybe I would take over my dad's position. That was probably a reasonable plan for me and I would very much like that plan. We walked up the stairs quietly tell I heard giggling coming from Jane's room, and stopped growing that I had forgotten about my other problem. I panicked and grabbed Jane before she could walk in to view and pulled her back. I covered her mouth with my hand before she could say anything and alert the girl of our presence. I pulled Jane into my room and kicked the door shut, as I felt a Jane tongue lick my hand

"Did you just lick me" I said pulling my hand away and whipping it on my pants

"yes, maybe next you won't try covering my mouth with you gross hands, oh crap, I'm probably going to get some diseases who knows what you have done with them and the last time you washed them" she said as she turned to leave,

"no don't leave, I need you to do something for me" I said in a panic because the second Jane went in that room that friend of hers would be on me in seconds and I wasn't into her for anymore reason, then I already achieved

"what do you want from me" she said as she looked at me suspiciously

"I need you to get rid of your friend, tell her to leave" I said as she looked at me angry

"why should I? I'm not the one that fucked the whore in the mall, this is you mess you clean it up" she said as she tried turning around to leave, but I stopped her again

"please Jane, you're right I did fuck a whore, I'm sorry the next time I'll just fuck you are you happy now, please just get rid of her" I said pleading with her, I was in no mood dealing with a crazy girl who has attached herself to me

"you are unbelievable, I don't want to have sex with you and never will" she said very angry as she slapped me causing my lip to break open again and bleed and I stood near the door and closed it as I looked at the computer screen.

I watched as Jane yelled at the girl to leave, and the whore start yelling back. After a few seconds, the girl got up off her bed and stormed out of the room and I waited quietly tell I could hear her heels pass and fade down the hall. I laid on my bed and sighed deeply as I relaxed with relief that she was gone. I closed my eyes until I heard crashing and jumped of the bed quickly and started running straight to Jane room. Fear had taken over that she might be troubled and I had to get to her to protect her and keep her safe.

When I pushed the door open to Jane room I was in shocked at what I was seeing. Jane was ripping her bed cover to shreds with a pair of scissors, I ran to her and grabbed her from behind as she thrashed around screaming to let her go. I grabbed her wrist that had the scissors and squeezed till she dropped it I turned her around and held her to my chest tell she stopped thrashing around was still for a long time. I was really confused at what had just happened, maybe she was crazy and that's why Dante wanted her to have a body-guard not to protect her from other, but to protect her from herself.

"I hate you, I hate everything about you, I wish you were never assigned to me, anybody would have been a better choice than you" she said as she spoke into my chest as she held on to me tightly

I felt as if she had stabbed me in the chest with the scissors, as it hurt to breathe. I felt like a complete idiot for not realizing the attachment I had developed for her. Plus the feeble attempts my mind created to make me think she was jealous of the girl, when she wasn't, I was my mind want to believe she could want someone like me, a guy her father hired to protect her. I let go of her and just left the room not wanting to be near her. I went to my room and slammed the door and slid down the wall sitting on the floor as I felt like my lungs were on fire. How could I have been so weak and stupid to fall into this fantasy where she would want me.
