I woke up early with great excitement. It was just my birthday last week at which I turned 15. And my family had moved to Pallet Town. The only problem is that I still had five hours before I was supposed to meet Professor Oak. So I opened up my Pokemon tournament themed laptop and watched many of the most recent attempts of people challenging The Elite Four.
Then I watched my most favorite Pokemon Trainer. Ash Ketcham, I have always admired how he now elegantly and swiftly defeat the Elite Four in Kanto. Compared to his first attempt he was extremely improved after his first try which was almost twenty years ago. By the time I was almost done watching Ash challenge the third Elite Four my mom had come to wake me up. She laughed when she saw me.
"Oliver, honey, it's time to get ready and go eat breakfast," my mom said with a smile on her face.
"Okay mom! I'll be down in a moment," I quickly replied.
I then jumped up and put on my favorite pair of black jeans. Then I put on my grey shirt which was then mostly hidden by my favorite dark red jacket. Then I topped it off with my favorite cap that looked just like Ash Ketcham's hat except it was a dark blue, to mask my long dark-brown locks of hair. I ran downstairs and I was greeted by the smell of breakfast and my mom already eating. It was scrambled eggs and toast. I sat down at the table and started to inhale my food. I was swiftly interrupted by my mom talking.
"I have two things for your upcoming adventure Oliver, the first thing being a easily portable, lightweight bicycle, and the second being a special Pokemon egg," said my mom.
"REALLY?! THANK YOU SO MUCH!" I screamed.
I then finished the last bit of my eggs and toast and fold my bike into my bad and shrunk the Pokemon egg and put into my bag as well. I then went to hug my mom.
"I love you mom," I said.
"I love you too, Oliver. Don't forget to call at least once a week! And remember to register as a trainer whenever you have received your Pokemon from Professor Oak! Also don't worry about any medical fees for you or your Pokemon. I've got it all covered. And here is 5,000 Pokedollars for everything else that you need," my mom said.
"Thank you very much mom," I replied with a slight grin.
I then walked out of the front door of my house and headed towards Professor Oak's Lab. When I reached the front door I was greeted by the girl my age that also lived in Pallet Town. The girl had shoulder-length light-brown hair, and was rather short compared to me. She looked about 5 foot and 2 inches. She also had a backpack on her back and was wearing a bandana on her head with a short sleeved pink shirt and a white vest, with some white pants.
"Hi! Are you new here?" She sweetly said.
"Yeah I am," I quietly said.
"Welllllll?" She questioned.
"Well what?" I asked.
"What's your name??" She said very loudly.
"I'm Oliver.... What is your name?" I said with a small amount of confidence.
"Well it's nice to meet you, Oliver. My name is Elizabeth, but you can call me Lizz, or Lizzie, whatever floats your boat," Elizabeth said matter-of-factly.
"Alright Lizz, it's very nice meeting you. Do you know what Pokemon you want to receive from Professor Oak?" I asked.
"Oh, you mean my uncle Gary? I honestly have no idea yet, but I think I will let you pick first," she replied while winking at me.
"Oh how nice of you," I laughed.
I then walked into Professor Oak's lab and Lizzie closely followed after me. I saw many researchers walking around in the lab and looking at many different pokemon and writing down every little detail about the Pokemon.
"Is it always like this Lizz?" I whispered.
"I would assume so, but I've not been in here since my great-grandpa was the professor in Pallet Town," she quietly said back.
We both continued walking towards the back of lab till we found Professor Oak's room. We then walked in and found the Professor reading a book about the mechanics of Pokeballs. He then noticed us and jumped up and greeted us.
"Back whenever I was your age I too began an adventure almost identical to your own. Although my grandfather's work with the pokedex for the Kanto region is now complete and Pokedexes are owned by almost everybody, I still want to offer that opportunity to a couple of select individuals every now and then to be able to update the pokedex and to become a Pokemon master. That is why I chose the two of you. Elizabeth because you are my niece who has always desired to train Pokemon, and Oliver because I know your mom through Ash Ketcham, my good friend and rival," he laughed at his last statement.
I gasped inside of my head when Professor Oak mentioned my mom knowing Ash Ketcham.
He then continued, "I want to offer the both of you a beta version of the Pokedex and one of three different rare Pokemon, the first of which being Squirtle, a water-type, the second being Bulbasaur, a grass-type Pokemon, and finally, Charmander, the fire-type Pokemon. So Oliver, why don't you pick first?" He finally finished.
"Hmmm...." I said, "I think I'll take the Bulbasaur."
"That's a great choice!" said Professor Oak. As he brightly smiled with his eyes closed. "Alright Elizabeth, what Pokemon do you choose?"
"I think that I will choose Charmander, Uncle," Lizzie said.
"That is also another very fine Pokemon," Gary said with with yet another bright smile on his face, "Now I'm going to give both of you the beta Pokedex, five additional Pokeballs to get you started and two potions in case you find yourself without a Poke Center. Call if you need anything please! Especially with the beta Pokedexes!"
Both Lizz and I left together and started to walk towards Viridian City. We encountered many trainers, but none were willing to battle because neither of us had registered for our Pokemon Trainer License. We also encountered many different wild Pokemon, but unfortunately we were too inexperienced to battle any. Then we finally arrived at Viridian City together. The sky of Viridian City was full of skyscrapers and various flying Pokemon, afterall there was a flying-type gym leader here, which also doubled as a place to teach your Pokemon to fly,
"Well best of wishes to you Oliver! I hope to see you again sometime soon!" said Lizz.
"Okay bye! I'll see you later Lizz!" I said.
I laughed to myself as I saw her run off to the nearest clothing store. I then went to the Pokécenter to register myself as a Pokémon trainer. I went up to Nurse Joy and gave her my Pokéball to show that I know had a Pokémon.
"Hello! Are you here to register?" She asked.
"Yes I am, my name is Oliver!" I said very proudly.
Nurse Joy laughed at me saying that and said, "Okay Oliver, give me one second please."
I waited for a few minutes until Nurse Joy came back with both my Bulbasaur and Pokémon trainer license. I gave her a quick smile and decided to go out into Viridian Forest and learn how to battle. Before I made it out into the forest, I was approached by this odd looking man.
"You seem like a very young and inexperienced trainer!" He yelled at me. "That's why I am going to give you an experimental Poképhone with the Teachy T.V. App! FOR FREE! This was my great-grandfather's legacy! And now it's mine to teach young and dumb trainers how to Pokémon!!" He yelled even louder, whispered, "psst, kid I need like 30 Pokédollars for that."
So I handed him some of my Pokédollars and sent him on his way. I started scrolling through the Poképhone and I found the app. I clicked on it and it should me how I should catch a Pokémon. And that over time every trainer develops their own special technique and battling styles and that I only need to try and start battling wild Pokémon. So I shut off the phone and ran into the forest with my Bulbasaur.
As I was walking I sent out my Bulbasaur so that he could stretch out his legs,
"Go, Bulba!" I said.
I saw the flash of light and Bulbasaur came out with a yawn and, "Bullllllbaaaaa."
Bulbasaur then came up and greeted me with a big smile. I smiled back and petted him. I then pulled out a dish and poured some Pokéfood into the dish for Bulbasaur to eat while I checked on the egg from my mom. Somehow, this egg was different colored than a normal egg, instead off white, beige color with light-green spots, it was a light pink color with purple spots all over it. I examined the egg in awe as a Caterpie started to crawl up my back. I jumped up in surprise and I swatted it off of my back.
"Ohh my, that was a weird feeling...." I said to Bulbasaur, who was too busy finishing his food.
Once Bulbasaur finished his food he looked like he was ready to start battling. So I packed everything back up into my backpack and Bulbasaur and I went out in search of a wild Pokémon to battle. As we were walking through Viridian Forest we encountered a wild Weedle.
"GO BULBA!" I yelled.
"BULBA, BULBA!" Said Bulbasaur.
"Weeeeeeeed," said Weedle in reply.
"Okay Bulba, use Tackle, QUICKLY!" I yelled nervously.
Bulbasaur then looked at me in confusion at first but then he run at the Weedle as fast as he could. But the Weedle used String Shot, so Bulbasaur only did about 25% of HP damage. Then Bulbasaur used Tackle again, and again, again, then finally the wild Weedle fainted. Bulbasaur run up to me and I picked him up and told him what a good job he did.
Bulbasaur smiled at me as I put him down and threw razor sharp leaves toward me, to prove that he finally learned razor leaf..
