Chapter - 3
Hello Fam :)
Happy Reading...
Mahi was almost ready by the time Faf returned from his shower. "Good morning, Faf", he said with a smile. Apparently, it's a waste of time to try to make his roommate talk before he has had a shower.
"Morning, Mahi", he said.
"Are you nervous?"
Faf sat down on his bed before rubbing his palms and letting out a breath.
"Yeah. This college is already important to me. I don't want to carry any bad memories from my stay here."
Mahi patted his hand lightly. "Trust me, you won't. Either you will carry good memories or the lessons to preserve for a lifetime. And you are going back with happiness and love."
Faf chuckled. "Do you always talk this sweetly? I haven't ever been attracted to someone's personality in just a day."
Mahi smirked. "Or maybe I am smart enough to play with the words."
"Soothing words that could calm anyone's nerves."
"I hope you are calm?", he asked.
Faf grinned. "Much better."
Mahi gave him a smile before slapping his forehead.
"Something wrong, Mahi?"
"I forgot to wake up Virat. Trust me, if we leave him, he could sleep for an entire day."
"He is a brat", muttered Faf.
It brought a laugh out of Mahi. It was the first opinion people formed on his brat. "He is crazy and dramatic but he is sweet. It takes some time to understand him and for him to open up to new people. You will agree with me once you know him. Anyway, see you in a while."
Mahi rushed out of the room giving another smile and barged into the opposite room to his. As expected, Virat was still sleeping while Raina and AB were trying to wake him up. Looking at their exasperated huff on seeing him was answer enough to say that they weren't faring well.
"I need mom now", said Raina on seeing him.
AB slumped down on his bed with a sigh. "True man. This is such a difficult task."
Mahi winked at the two before standing near Virat's bed. "AB, why don't you lock him up in the room? We can attend the conference peacefully. Raina, as always you will sit beside me on one side and as Virat wouldn't be there, Faf would love to take his place. We have already bonded so well."
"Nobody's taking my place", said Virat, jumping from his bed and glaring at Mahi. "Give me 10 minutes to get ready. And Mr. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, don't you dare to give my place to anyone." He stormed off to the washroom making the others burst out in laughter.
"Raina, are you ready? What about your roommate? Isn't he supposed to report yesterday?"
Raina nodded. "He did come yesterday. Apparently, his flight got delayed so he has the permission. I don't know when did he come and sleep but he is weird."
"Weird as in?"
"He had put up a pink sticky note beside his bed stating 'Please don't wake me up. I need some sleep. My human alarm will make sure I attend the introductory conference meet.'", said Raina.
AB chuckled. "So, you found a weird guy using pink sticky notes."
"And he seems crazy like your twin", muttered Mahi.
"I am not crazy", announced Virat. "I am just a fun-loving guy."
Mahi rolled his eyes. "Sure. But please wear something decent", he told and left the room to grab his bag.

In the auditorium, Mahi was sitting in between Raina and Virat. Abd was beside Virat and Faf beside Abd. They were concentrating on their final speech by the Principal. Beside him, Virat was getting restless. "Mahi bhai, what the hell is this man speaking? What will we do knowing the statistics or even the pass percentage of this college?"
"Virat, quiet and listen", said Mahi.
"Bhai, but we don't know whether the stats are true or not. And this is getting so boring."
"Shut up."
The boy pouted but at least sat quietly for the rest of the speech. Following the speech, they were taken on a college tour and then were left free for the day. The classes were supposed to start the next day. It didn't take them long to find the canteen and to grab a table. Once the food arrived, Virat's concentrated solely on munching his burger.
"Virat, how can you forget me while having food? You don't love me anymore. How can you break my heart, Cheeku?", teased Mahi.
"I am just concentrating on gaining energy", he muttered, without bothering to look up. "I need the energy to protect you."
"You don't protect him", Faf countered.
"I do. You just don't know me."
"I already know you enough."
Mahi didn't know if they were arguing or it was just friendly banter and he smiled thankfully when Ab interrupted the both.
"Faf, take it easy, man", he said.
Virat grinned. "My roommate is the best."
"What about me?", said Mahi, just to rile him up.
"My Mahi bhai is the best."
"What about me, Cheeku?", asked Raina.
Virat lost whatever tiny patience he had and glared at his twin. "Mr. Raina Kohli, shut up. And you all. You cruel human beings. How can you confuse an innocent soul like me? My burger is the best", he declared before getting back to his food.
While the gang laughed at his expense, a boy approached them hesitantly. "Hey, sorry to interrupt. I was just passing by and heard the name 'Raina Kohli'. May I know who he is?"
"It's-", started Raina but before he could finish his sentence, Virat interrupted his twin.
"And who are you?"
Mahi cuffed his head lightly. "Virat, stop being rude. He is Raina Kohli", he said, pointing towards Raina. "And may we know about you?"
The boy grinned, shook his hand with Raina, before grabbing a chair for himself. "So, I am Raina Kohli's roommate. My flight has been delayed and we couldn't talk yesterday. By the time I woke up today, he was already gone. Hence, I went to the warden in the morning and enquired about the name of the person I was supposed to share my room with."
"So, you are the guy with pink sticky notes?", asked AB.
"Oh please", said the boy, with a groan. "Don't even ask me about it. I have my best friend. I really don't know why I am still friends with her. She just loves to embarrass me. She gave me these pink sticky notes as a gift and ask me to use only that if I have to save our friendship. She looks sweet but I am sure there is an evil streak somewhere."
Virat shrugged. "Simple. Stop using it and she won't embarrass you anymore."
"Virat, think before you speak", scolded Mahi.
The boy huffed. "Yeah, man. I mean I can't lose her. She is my best friend since my playschool. And we are together since then."
"Then what about-"
Raina cut him off in between. "Virat, don't use your brain, please. It was nice meeting you Mr. ?"
"Sharma. Rohit Sharma."
"Bro, you sound like Bond. James Bond", said Virat.
Rohit: Really?
"Rohit Gurunath Sharma alias Ro alias Hitty alias my best friend forever, you shouldn't suppose to forget me after keeping me waiting for like the past 15 minutes, and are you here busy making new friends?"
They found a girl fuming and shooting daggers at Rohit. Seeing her, Rohit gulps down scaredly, took the glass of water from the table, and gave it to her. "Breathe. Breathe. I am sorry, Okay? I heard my roommate's name so, I was enquiring."
"Mahi bhai, that's my glass of water", complained Virat.
"Virat, shh. It seems serious", mutters Mahi.
"You found your missing roommate?", asked the girl, once she was calm enough.
"Don't you dare comment about my brother?", said Virat, glaring at the two.
Faf rubbed his head. "Why are you always so eager to get into an argument?"
"Okay, guys calm down", said Mahi, patting Faf on the arm.
"Is she your best friend?", asked Ab to Rohit.
"And your human alarm?", said Raina.
Rohit grinned at them. "Yes. Ritika Sajdeh, my best friend for life, my human alarm, my human diary, my go-to person, and my almost everything. Right, Ms. Sajdeh?"
Ritika rolled her eyes. "I am fine. Stop buttering me, Mr. Sharma."
Virat gaped from his place. "Wow."
"What?"
"I mean she even knows when you are faking", said Virat. "Hifi bro." But instead of Rohit when he hified with Ritika, Rohit threw a glare towards him.
"Please, sit down, Ritika", said Mahi, pulling a chair. "You look too tired."
"Yeah, the late-night flight got me tired", said Ritika. "And I had to rush to your hostel for waking up this idiot. He doesn't wake up to an alarm. I am telling you, he is a big-time sleepyhead."
"You can't share my secrets like that", said Rohit, pouting.
"They aren't any secrets, Ro", she said. "They are your roommate's friends. So, they will get to know you."
Raina laughed. "You are so like Virat. We literally have to either drag him out of the bed or blackmail him."
"How about we put both of them in a room? They will be perfect roommates", teased Faf.
Virat glared at him. It was his expression of the day. "No need. I am happy with my Ab."
"He is not 'your' Ab", said Faf, glaring right back at him.
Abd rolled his eyes. "I am everyone's Ab. Happy, kids?"
Faf protested at that. "You are supposed to support me."
Raina rolled his eyes at the group before gathering his books. "Mahi, I am going to the library. I need to apply for a membership card."
Virat groaned. "Not again, little brother. Why do you even go into the old abandoned building?"
"The same reason why you always go around the canteen", said Raina. "And that is not abandoned yet, big brother."
Mahi chuckled. "Not until there are people like Raina." He shook his head at Raina's answering grin. "I will leave for the administration block. I need to do some formalities regarding the scholarship."
"Great. Ro will drop me at the hostel", said Ritika, standing up.
"What? When did I say?", asked Rohit, confused.
"Now", she said and without giving him any chance to speak, she drags him out of the canteen, after waving at the boys.
"They are crazy", muttered Ab.
"Everyone left me alone", protested Virat.
"You aren't a kid to babysit", muttered Faf.
"Faf, not again", warned Ab.
"Fine. I will go make a call and then I leave for my room. I need some sleep."
Abd smiled at Virat. "Roommate, what about us?"
Virat grinned. "Let's do something crazy."
"And that is?"
"Sleep."
"Sleep isn't a crazy activity, Virat."
Virat huffed. "Yes, but it's a requirement. Okay, fine. Let's play some Xbox."
I know it's the start and a bit boring but let's give it a few chapters and if it's still boring, I will wrap it up early.
Spoiler: The fun guys are coming.
