Evelyn, Atlas, Harley, Jax, lily, Lucian, Ember and Keyren are online.

It was October 31st, Halloween. It was the one year when everyone decides to go out in costumes and receive candy as the prize. Evelyn, Harley, Atlas, Jax, Lily, Lucian, Ember, and Keyren were all connected somehow. Despite their different personalities, they had all decided to stay acquainted through each other's parents. You see, ever since these children were little, the parents had seemed to push the group towards each other to be friends. This group had one thing in common. They knew they were different. They didn't know how they were different, but they knew. As they arrived at school, they hearts sank. Tonight was Friday, October 31st, which meant tonight the school would have the Halloween Dance.

Evelyn: Hey Harley!!!

Harley: Hey! Did you get permission to go?

Evelyn: nah, I can't go.

Ember: Hey you two! Groups this way.

Keyren: yeah, it feels like forever, what are you, a granny?

Evelyn: *laughs* Careful Keyren, you may think I'm old, but I can still whip you.

Jax: did anyone get permission to go to the dance tonight?

Everyone responded with a no.

Atlas: it's kind of weird that our parents are so afraid of Halloween.

Ember: They probably have their suspicions about the Holiday. But I don't get why we cant go to a friggin dance.

Jax: Unlessssssssssss

Keyren: unlesssss what?

Jax: We escape our houses and go to the dance, duh.

Lily: you want to break out of your parents house and go to the dance?

Lucian: sounds legit.

Atlas: We could just wait til 9, and just meet at the lamppost where we wait for the bus?

Harley: and if we get caught?

Jax: we can deal with it later, but we deserve to have some fun!

Atlas: WOOOO! I'll drive!

Everyone: ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Lily: I'm driving, I'm not letting you people drive my precious car.

Ember: As long as we are there for the announcement of homecoming queen then I'm all for it.

Lucian: and I homecoming king *looks heroically to the sun*

Atlas: I dunno mate, I think you've got even more competition. *puffs out chest even more.*

Evelyn: we should probably get going, class will start soon.

Keyren: Yes mom! XD

Lucian: oh stop making fun of her! She may be the mom of our friend group, but she is the gorgeous mom friend. * winks*

Lily: Do you flirt with everyone?

Lucian: Absolutely XD

Evelyn:  *laughs* what on earth are we going to do with you?

The bell rung, signaling for them to go their separate ways. The day was long, and slow, making the group more anxious to get out and to get ready. Finally, the bell rang, dismissing the students for the day, and the group met at their usual spot.

Lily: shall we say, we meet at 8:30?

Harley: sounds good to me.

Evelyn: I feel weird, not sick weird, but like nervous weird. Ya know what I mean?

Atlas: lol what?

Harley: I feel it too, like something bad is about to happen.

Jax: Harley, you are a cautious guy, you feel nervous most of the time.

Keyren: no, he isn't wrong, I feel it too, something is going to happen, I just don't know what it is.

Ember: What the bell is going on here???

Lily: look guys. We're fine. We are a weird group. Our life has been weird,  we might as well embrace the weirdness if ya know what I mean.

Everyone: yeah....

Once again, the group left their separate ways to go and prepare for the dance. It was about 8:00, when Evelyn texted the group.

Evelyn: guys, I can't get out. Like I cannot physically leave my room.

Ember: What are you Evelyn? A damsel in distress? *snickers*

Evelyn: my father locked me in my room, he gets angry easily. I'm sure I'll think of something.

Lucian; Harley and I are coming to get you.

Harley; We are?

Lucian: We absolutely are.

Lily: look, you better hurry, i don't want to be caught in the crossfire of multiple parents.

Evelyn tried many forms of escaping her home. She was most worried for her sister Kara. Evelyn has had a life where she sacrifices everything to make sure her little sister has a better one, even if it means sacrificing her own happiness. Her father, was not the most kind man. He was married to Alice, who was Evelyns adopted mother. Henry loved Alice, but one day when Evelyn was 11, she found her mother had passed away in a car accident. Henry became bitter towards Evelyn, for Alice was going to get something for her. He placed Evelyn under her mother's last name, instead of his, and cherished Kara like it was the sun moon and stars.

Harley; You here Evelyn?

Evelyn: yeah I'm here. I cant't leave Kara though, what if something happens to her?

Harley: look, you and I both know your father loves her above all things. You know she will be alright.

Evelyn: Well, there is no looking back.

Lily: *pulls up in a black Jeep, ready to go,* Get in losers, we're going to the school dance.

Ember: HECK YEAH WE ARE!

Evelyn; *breaks window by throwing a chair at it*

Lucian: holy cow.

Atlas: well dang.

Evelyn; well, I guess we live like there is no tomorrow yeah?

Atlas; WOOOOO YEAHHHHHH

Jax: NO TOMORROW!

Just as she was about to jump out towards the tree, there was a pounding on her door, she glanced for a moment, hoping that she would receive some sort of affection from her family. But she knew that if she stayed, she would be hurt.

Evelyn; *whispers* no regrets, no tomorrows. *jumps out the window.*

Evelyn jumped out the window and onto the tree just as her father opened the door. He was red faced, and had a bottle in one hand. Evelyn quickly and nimbly climbed down the tree and through the glass window of the car roof.

Keyren: DRIVE LILY DRIVE!!

Lily smirked as she stepped on the gas and zoomed towards the school dance.  When she arrived at the school, she parked the cat discreetly, and allowed her friends to get out.

Atlas: that was wicked!!!

Lily: *smirks* of course it was, I drove the Jeep.

The group left and mingled with people of their choosing, overall, they chose to stick together for the dance. Nevertheless, the group enjoyed themselves with the pounding music, the, drinks and snacks, and of course, the dancing. Finally, it was time to crown homecoming king and queen.

Ember: the moment we have been waiting for!

Atlas: They are sure to pick me for sure!

Lucian: I dunno mate, you may have some friendly competition! *smirks*

Sure enough, Ember was voted as homecoming queen, and Atlas as homecoming king. Soon, it was time for the slow dancing song of the night, with the homecoming king and queen opening the dance.

(Note, everyone is just friends in this chapter, and they are just dancing as friends)

Evelyn noticed that Harley was thinking about going to the dance floor, but saw that he's too shy to go and ask a stranger.

Evelyn; Harley?

Harley: Hmn?

Evelyn: do you wanna dance?

Harley: yeah that sounds fun!

The song finally came to a close, and the music started to get upbeat once more. Harley noticed on his watch it said 11 o clock. Somehow, he got the uneasy feeling in his stomach once more. Across the room, he saw Keyren standing by the punch and snack section and walked over to him.

Keyren: do you feel it??

Harley; yeah, you?

Keyren: it's so weird. I just can't pin point it to where it's coming from.

At that point the group has rejoined them and noticed how the mood changed between them.

Ember: what's going on?

Keyren: we think something is about to happen.we just can't pinpoint where it's coming from.

At that moment, the lights turned on and everyone froze. Evelyn saw from the corner of her eye, all of their parents,

Jax: uhhhhhhhh

Atlas: I think we're in trouble.

Keyren: ya don't say?

Harley: What do we do?

Lily: We run for the car,

Ember: RUN YOU FOOLS!

Keyren and Harley looked at each other and they knew that the group couldn't go to their parents. They knew the group was supposed to do something else. If they went, they were never going to reach where they were supposed to

Keyren: we cant go with them.

Ember; WHAT THE HECK DO YOU MEAN?

Harley: I mean, if we go, we will be harmed!

Jax: yeah! Like we will be grounded!

Atlas: We can discuss this later-

Evelyn: Hang on, where's Lily?????

Lucian: oh crap.

Lily loudly whistles to them from across the room, allowing the group to run into her direction. The parents decided not to waste another minute and follow them. At this point, the students were screaming out of fear, and rushing towards the parents, making it very difficult to travel in the crowd. The group made it to their car, and Lily slammed on the breaks.

Lucian: what do we do?

Evelyn: I suggest we take the off road path, and go to our tree house.

Lily: that rickety old thing?

Evelyn; we haven't been there in a few year-

Atlas: we haven't been there since we were 13!

Evelyn: look, it's not like we have a choice.

Ember: what are our other options?

Keyren: turn ourselves in, and be grounded for eternity.

Jax: on second thought the treehouse doesn't sound too bad.

Lily: I think we have a different problem, the parents are on our tail. Atlas, imma need you to steer.

Atlas: oooh really?

Lily: ugh, as much as I don't like it, someone has to get rid of the extra cars.

Atlas: *switches spots with Lily*

Lily then proceeds to open the car roof window and get on it.

Ember: what are you doing?

Lily: I'm getting on the roof so I can distract them. Hand me the grey bag will you?

Ember: what for?

Evelyn: we don't have much of a choice for conversation right now! *hands grey bag*

Lily: throws the bag in the air and allows things to fly out such as clothes, rocks, school supplies, and other things,

Lucian: that should do it.

Keyren: *sings* alright, we're here sitting in the car, I want you to show to show me if you can get far. Step on the gas!

Atlas: *Steps on the gas and zooms* STEP ON THE GAS?

Everyone: STEP ON THE BRAKES!!

The car suddenly flew in the air For a good thirty seconds causing everyone in the car to scream out of terror.

Atlas: WOOOOOOOOOO

Jax: YEAHHHHH!!!

Ember: OHMYGAWD WERE GONNA DIE!

Everyone proceeded to get out of the car cautiously. Everyone looked around to see a large swamp with a sinking car a large oak tree, and another set of trees with a tree house.

Harley: we made it, were alive.

Lily: *snorts* yeah, barely,  with a damaged car that my mom is gonna kill me for.

It was in that moment, that everyone's  watches beeped to signal that it was midnight.  A purple portal appeared,  causing the whole group to jump with fright. Next to them, their tree house started to glow a silvery blue glow. Within seconds, four burly knights with black armor appeared, and carried lethal weapons.

Atlas: Usually, I would be quite excited to see such a thing, but I am now assuming that we're in danger.

Lucian: ya don't say?

Black knight: you are to come with us, you are summoned to go to the shadow isles-

Ember: Look bucko I don't know who you are, but no one commands me to go anywhere!

Black Knight; then you will face sudden death!

Harley: ya know, I'm sure we can come to an agreement-

Suddenly, a blue portal opened and a man with a green cloak came through with double swords. He had the powers of electricity, and was able to zap them into unconsciousness.

Evelyn: whoa whoa whoa, who are you?

Peter: my names Peter, and I just saved you, so a thank you would be nice.

Harley: oh yeah, thanks.

Peter: come, you aren't safe here, you must come with me.

Keyren: go with you where???

Peter to a realm of magic, you may not feel it yet, but you have magical powers.

Ember: *scoffed* yeah right.

Evelyn: look, if we go, we will be a lot safer; and it will protect us all.

Lily: what were those things???

Peter: *sighs exasperatedly* they are the immortal black knights, they are from the Shadow Isles.

Lucian: the what now?

Keyren turned around and saw the dust of one of the knights rise up again. The same thing happened with the other three black knights.

Harley: I think he's right. We have to go.

The group quickly agreed and stepped into the portal of an unknown land. They noticed that they landed in a lush forest, with the flowers glowing a light blue.

Jax: where are we?

Peter: Welcome to Anala.

So this was my first chapter! I hope you like it! It's my first story where I have to write different kinds of personalities, so I'm planning to dive deeper and allow the characters to develop more.  Note: please don't do anything violent in real life, just because the people in the story are doing the things that they aren't, doesn't mean you should, it's make believe and it's for story purposes. The reason I say this is because I just don't want you guys to get in trouble, but I have 100% faith in y'all that you know what's right from wrong. In addition, if you wish to have a friend interest, I'll need that by next Sunday, for the third chapter. You can look at the previous chapter for more details.
