Chapter Twenty-Three: The Shot
(Same outfit from couple of Chapter's back)
As I finished my crying session on my living room floor, I had fed from a blood bag, and set out to find Derek. I needed to know if he was really with his uncle, or it was all a plan just to get close to him, to find out everything he could. I didn't believe his act with his uncle, there must be a reason behind it all. I vamp-sped through the woods, and came to a stop just outside the old red door. Hearing Derek shouting at someone.
"Look around you. Wouldn't there be someone here trying to save you? There's no one here. There's a reason, no one cares that you drive an expensive car. No one cares that you have perfect hair, and no one cares!" Derek yells, who I'm guessing to be Jackson, as I can hear his little heart beat to a dozen. For a split second, I didn't want to help him. He was rude to people around, he was mean to Lydia, and most of all he was a jackass. But, somewhere deep down he wants to do good, and maybe one day he will.
"I care," I said cockily, while pushing the door open and stepping into the house. Derek shooting me his darkly gaze, and Jackson kind of looked relieved to see someone standing here. My eyes met Jackson's, as I gave him a warm smile. "Though he's an ass sometimes. I see good in him. Like I saw good in you Derek," now turning my gaze to Derek, my expression changed dramatically, as I thought back of him knocking me out. Using the past tense on him, his face kind of fell, but he quickly shook it off as he turned to stand in front of me.
"Only one?" Derek asked cockily, smirking to himself, looking to Jackson then looking back to me. I gave him a fake smile, before punching out my left hand in a fist. Directly hitting him in the nose, making his head go backward with the force. I also heard something crack when my fist connected to his nose.
"You know what that was for," I replied, giving him a smile, as he kept his head straight, and a hand on his nose. I see Jackson's eyes widen, like I was out of my mind for punching a werewolf, but I knew he wouldn't do anything to physically hurt me. He just growled at me and I heard something pop back into place. His eyes darted to mine, his face not impressed. Suddenly, he grabs me back the shoulders and throws me across the stairs and into the wall, to the right of the stairs. I crashed into the wall, breaking it before I crumbled to the floor.
Guess I was wrong about him hurting me.... I groaned in pain, as it hurt, luckily I healed fast.
"Well that's not nice," I said, standing up from the floor, brushing the dust off of my jacket. He growled once again, shifting into his wolf form, his eyes glowing a blue colour.
"Leave her alone!" A voice emitted from the top of the stairs. My head shot over to see Scott at the top of the stairs, looking quite mad. He leaps from the top to the bottom of the stairs, he shifted into his wolf form, mid-way in the jump. He looked back to Jackson, his eyes glowing a yellow colour. Before, looking back to Derek.
"Move!" Derek said, his bottom teeth showing.
"No," Scott replied to him, making Derek angry.
"Fine. I'll kill you too," Derek said coldly, staring down at him. They were both ready to fight, but then I heard a whistling sound, like an...
Arrow...
"Cover your eyes!" Derek shouted, but it was too late, the arrow had come through the window that was a part of the door, sticking into the wall next to me. Derek had already shielded himself from the blast, as a blinding white lighter pierced the air. I ducked, as I could see the light pierce through my eyelids, but I heard Scott struggle, meaning he didn't close his eyes in time. Then gunshots were being shot through the door, blasting into the walls and the stairs. I scrambled to the floor, pushing my back against the wall, as I kept my eyes shut for a second longer.
I opened my eyes, to see flares of light that the bullets were making when they hit something solid. Suddenly, a shot rang out, and Scott was it in the side, a bullet going into him. Jackson had gone from the house. Scott leaned over trying to catch something, before he fell on the floor, but I grabbed him as he fell, his back was pressed against me.
"Oh my God, Scott!" I said, shocked, as blood started to appear out of his mouth, and ran down his chin, but it wasn't normal blood, it was black blood. Like that time Derek had got shot and he started to vomit black blood. He was in pain and it was clear, but I don't think my blood would heal him, because the bullet was still in him and the effect of the bullet will continue to grow within, until it was out.
"Alice, get Scott out!" Derek shouts, his eyes full of fear for the both of us at this point, but I know what he was doing. He was going to save us, but then he would be captured.
A simple locator spell would do just fine...
I gave him a firm nod, before grabbing Scott's arm, and made him stand, putting it around my neck, and held his side. I dragged him through the back of the house and into the forest behind. Leaf's crunched under our feet, Scott dropped now and then due to the pain, but I held onto him tight. As we walked further into the forest, he began to drop even more, and he was dying. I needed to hurry. I passed a couple of tree's, but then tripped on a log as I was too focused on Scott. I let him go and he fell flat on his back, his breathing was slowing as blood dropped from his mouth. I peered up to look at his body, not sure what to do, as blue smoke started to emit off of his shot wound. Magic was a no go, and my blood wouldn't help, he needed someone who was trained in taking care of people like his Mother.
Just then, I had a light bulb moment. I shot up from the ground, and went over to Scott's body. I gently put my hands under him to pick him up, using bridal style to hold him. He was light, but I had strength behind me, so it was like picking up a flower. I picked up on his heart beat and it was slowing. I had no time to walk through the woods, he was unconscious at least. So he wouldn't see this part.
"Damn it," I said quickly, before I pushed off all my strength in my legs and used my vamp speed. I had a place in mind and I was hoping I was right about him...
................................
Within minutes of leaving the forest I had found my way to where I wanted to be. I peer up to look at the Vet sign. I sighed and quickly walked forward, Scott still in my hands. The sign on the door said closed, but I was hoping he was still here. I looked to the door and it made a click sound and unlocked then swung open on it's own. Magic for you...
"Hello!" I shouted, as I entered the building. My eyes scanning the front of the vet's, seeing no sign of anyone. "Hello!" I shouted louder, and suddenly a man came from behind the desk, that entered the back room. "Please help," I said desperately, his eyes looking down to the person I had in my hands, and his eyes went wide, knowing who it was.
"Quickly in here," he said, stepping to the side to show me the back room. I rushed forward, stepping into the back room, and placing him down on the metal table, where you operate animals on. His boss quickly cuts open his shirt with some scissors, to reveal his wound, that dripped with his blood. Thank God, I had that blood bag earlier. Scott's boss got some equipment to remove the bullet from within. I paced along the metal table as he worked on Scott. I hope he was alright, and that he would survive this. I bit my nails as he continued to work on Scott, my speed only getting faster as I was becoming scared for him, as bad thought ran through my mind.
"You know worrying won't do you any good, Miss?" He asks, making me stop to glare at him for a moment, before he took his own gaze up from Scott's wound to look at me.
"Harper. Alice Harper," I said softly to him.
"Doctor Alan Deaton," he replied back, before looking back at Scott's wound. Now he had gotten the bullet out of his side, and started to clean it. "You can go home Alice, he won't be fully aware until morning,"
"I'm staying," was the only words I told him, making him shake his head forward. He continued to clear Scott's wound, when suddenly, he intake a lot of air and shot up slightly. But Deaton put his hand on his shoulder to know it was alright. He coughed for a few seconds. Thank the Other-Side he was alive.
"I wouldn't get up just yet," Deaton states, still cleaning his wound, as he looked around for a few seconds.
"Where am I?" Scott asked, clearly dazed.
"You're fine and I've given you something that should speed up the healing process," he said, not looking at Scott, and I think he wasn't meaning the human healing.
"But you're a vet," Scott said, he breathed heavily as he was still in a kind of shock state.
"It's very true. And 90% of the time, I'm mostly treating cats and dogs,"
"Mostly?" Scott asked, knowing that he was referring to the supernatural population.
"Mostly," Deaton replied, holding a dead serious tone to him, but changed to a soft smile, as Scott's head went back onto the metal table. He went back under, so his body could heal faster. I walked over to his body, and my hand in his, giving him a sad smile, as Deaton covered his wound.
"See you soon Scott," I whispered to him, but loud enough for Deaton to hear.
I had faith and I had hope that he would pull through this, and whatever was to come. We would all face it together...
