Ariel was minding her own business, eating a piece of fruit while reading a comic when someone she knows knocks on the tree she was in.
"Ariel, the town has gathered around the square for an important meeting."
Her father,Anankos says.
"Give me a minute dad." She replies,uninterested. These meetings were usually for dumb minor things like who stole the baker's banana bread despite that she knew his fatass ate it and wanted to blame someone else. Even though she caught him red handed!
"It's about the Beast...." Anankos replied,messing with his long light  blue hair. He knew that saying that would perk up his daughter's interest. She was enthralled with creatures and beasts to the point where she made her own. She called them "Laguz" and were humans with animal parts and shapeshifted into those animals. To him,as long as his daughter wasn't fusing animals and humans together to make them,he was ok with it.
"Really?" She asked. "Let's go then."

The two headed for town square where the towns singer, Azura was looking more worried as time passed by. Ariel knew the singer and was a good friend of hers.
"Attention everyone!" The mayor said "We will be saying farewell to our lovely singer as she will..."
"Wait!" Ariel cut him off with "Wouldn't we be losing our most valuable tourist attraction!? She was the reason people came here!" Anankos facepalmed. He loved how his daughter would openly speak her mind,but it would get her in trouble sometimes.
"Yes,but this is a life and death matter here! As I was saying,she will be accompanying the beast from now on. He will be arriving shortly,so make your statements now...." Among the farewells,Ariel looked into Azura's worried face and knew she had to do something,but what? It was a bold move,but she'd have to do it."
"I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE!" Ariel shouted among the crowd.
"What are you doing!? I am not going to lose my only daughter!" Anankos shouted back at his daughter,fearing for her safety.
"I will be ok. I'll try to calm the beast and come back."
"Ariel no!" Azura said,concerned with Ariel's rash decision.
"Really? A volunteer?" The mayor asked,having a look of shock. "The last person who volunteered to kill him was torn to shreds and killed."
"That's the thing,you guys see him as a monster, while I see him as a creature like you and me." Ariel replied. "So I'm going in Azura's place!"
"Very well."

Soon,after many goodbyes,the beast arrived. He was of a sickly green color with shackles and chains of a dark gray around his body and limbs. The mask was of the same color as his chains,but with black holes that lead to nowhere in the face. He towered a good foot to 2 feet above the girl,and with muscles the size of her head but despite this, Ariel found it interesting and a bit unique as well.
"Wait? You're not the singer girl." He said quietly,which was odd for a beast of his appearance.
"I decided to step in her place." Ariel replied,curious about his shy and soft voice.
"Well then... I know your voice. You were the one who thought that I should be treated with the same respect as your town. Why is that?"
"Everyone should be treated by how they are on the inside,and the town didn't give you a chance to act as they were too quick to judge by your appearance."
"Could we head to my castle before the town thinks something is going on?"
"That's up to you." He lifted the girl onto his shoulders and left Valla for his own castle.....
