The next day Sammy woke up and waited for the humans to come. Many people came in but none even glanced at him. Most wanted a dog or small kitten. Not a single one wanted a poor old senior cat. And that only sparked more anger inside of Sammy. Lunch time rolled around and the crowd began to die off. But later, after the lunch rush, it slowly came back.
"Ooooooo look mommy a kitty cat." Shouted a little five year old boy pointing at Sammy while holding his mom's arm.
"Yes he is pretty cute. Is this the one you want William?" Asked William's mother sweetly.
"Yes yes yes! Can I have him, can I have him, can I have him? Pretty pretty PLEASE?"
"For heaven's sake will you please calm down?" His mother begged. "Yes if you are sure this is the one you want then he's your's."

As they came in the door William ran into the kitchen and hugged his dad.
"Hey William! Did you have a good day?" His dad boomed in his jolly voice.
"Yes I really did Daddy. Mommy and I went to this really old building and we bought a kitty cat who's name is Sammy. See, it says right here on his tag." William said holding Sammy up showing his dad.
"Oh I see. Why don't you go show Sammy where his bed is, ok? Meanwhile your mom and I will cook dinner alright?" His dad suggested.
"Ok." William exclaimed happily. He, left the room and carried Sammy upstairs. "You can sleep in my room next to my bed. Ok Sammy?"
"Meow?" Sammy replied.
After dinner William went upstairs to put on his pajamas and get ready for bed.
"Make sure you feed Sammy, ok William?" Called his mom.
"Ok, goodnight mom, goodnight dad."
"Goodnight." They replied.
