Second

Tohma had to return to his siblings since the soul attached to Chloe's was born now, but after reading the scroll he hesitated.

What would happen if he went back? Would he be doomed to return to the same days he had experienced before?
Even though he knew it was wrong, Tohma scrunched up the scroll and glanced down at the baby who was sucking her thumb once again. He knew his siblings couldn't leave like he had, freely.

Meaning no one could force him to return.

So he would wait, it wasn't like he'd stop doing his duties as the Nova-Star Child of Chaos, he was just doing work away from home and ignoring his sister's calls. Like a human.
Tohma knew he would be in for a scolding when he returned, but watching over Chloe felt worth it, her family seemed dysfunctional at best. The young mother clearly had no idea how to raise a baby and he was sure her grandmother had issues, her aunt wasn't so bad but she was very young.

Tohma hated Chloe's father, he was a piece of work.

If he wasn't out having the time of his life he would be swiping valuables and selling them for who knows what, nothing to take care of his daughter that was for sure. Tohma tried not to be harsh but it was hard not to, the only interaction he had was seeing faces in the Circlet Way-water back home.
Thankfully, it didn't seem like all humans had his traits.

So Tohma waited, watched and ignored his sister's summons.
Chloe was crawling and walking before he knew it, time for him was fast but he didn't realise how fast it actually was until the day she took her first few steps straight to him.
The welling feeling rising in his chest was the same as admiring his beautiful chaos, but the difference was he didn't make Chloe.

It wasn't long before Chloe's parents began seeing issues in their relationship and even more insults on each-others parenting, When they started Tohma would hum to Chloe to catch her attention and sometimes cover her ears.
The older she was getting the worse it was becoming and the more frequent, sometimes her school was the only good part of the day.

Eventually, they all moved away. It was at this point Chloe was starting to understand and keep her memories, when she wasn't playing with her ponies she would be talking to Tohma, thankfully her mother never seemed to notice.

"Hey kiddo, you know these ponies?"

Tohma pointed to a big pink pony and a small purple pony, Chloe nodded and picked them up.
"Well, you and I are like these ponies, but the big pony...me, can't be seen by anyone else."

Chloe was around five now, chocolate hair was down to her shoulders and her eyes sparkled just as bright as the day she was born.

"Why? Do they not like you?"

She was holding the pony when she asked and looking at the group of ponies but he knew she understood who he really meant, so Tohma sighed.

"Not really, but there are lots of reasons. The biggest reason...is because I'm like...the genie from your favourite doll movie! It's not safe for people to see me beside you."

Chloe perked up at the mention of her doll movie, grabbing her little genie toy and giving it a shake, looking at the bottle for an answer.

"You are magic!"

He smiled at her face lighting up when she grabbed her doll from the movie, it had huge eyes that always freaked Tohma out and he never understood the removable feet with shoes. But she loved the doll and loved the movie even more, lifting up to him.
"You grant wishes? Like genie?"

Tohma shook his head, "Not wishes..."

"Do you have a flying carpet?"

He rubbed the back of his head and said no and before she could ask anything more, he held out his hand and slowly a ball of sparkling light appeared.

"My sisters make stars...I sometimes make shooting stars..."

And I create chaos on Earth with diseases, natural disasters, often flinging meteors just for fun...

Chloe didn't notice him hiding the rest of his power, only leaning closer to the ball of light and smiling widely.

"Stars are so pretty!"
"Yes, they are..."

Rain gently started to tap against the window as light flashed across the sky, Tohma slowly making the ball of light disappear and dropping his hand to his side. He had waited as long as he could but it was finally time, to say goodbye.

"Hey Squish? I have to go home to my sisters...I don't know when I'll be back but it's very important."

Chloe's smile turned down as she gave a nod and shuffled her feet, Tohma could sense she was holding back from him. Taking a deep breath and pulling the ribbon gently tied around his neck in the colour of a starless sky, he let out a gentle sigh over it in his hands and placed it in Chloe's who lifted her eyes with curiosity.
"One day, I'll be back for this ribbon, until then keep it safe for me, yeah?"

With a nod she hugged him, tightly and inside he could sense she was feeling more alone than ever, he sighed.

"Remember this if nothing else, you are special and there's a reason why even if you'll never know."

Without another word, Tohma climbed out the window into the growing heavier rain and consistant flashing light in the sky, making sure he was unseen before leaping from the roof and causing a thunderclap to ring out in the air, only just resisting the urge to look back.
It was time, to meet the second...and be scolded.
