Chapter 7

Astrid awoke by the sound of Toothless clawing at the door. She slowly rose out of the bed and walked up to the door, opening it. The cat came shooting in and jumped onto the bed before landing on Hiccup with a thud.

"Holy mother of god," He coughed out, being awoken by a twenty-pound cat landing on his chest. "Toothless, do you have to be so hyper somedays?" He asked and looked straight into the green eyes of the black feline.

Astrid chuckled and slowly made her way back to the bed, settling down under the covers.

"Sorry," Hiccup started. "He gets like this sometimes. I have no idea why," He continued before carefully pushing Toothless off of him. Astrid laughed and caressed the cats head. "It's fine. It's probably excess energy he hasn't been able to get out properly," She said and looked at him.

"Yeah, probably."

Astrid smiled and shook her head. She watched as Hiccup closed his eyes and made himself comfortable again, placing his right arm under his head and letting the left one rest on the cats' back.

Astrid hummed softly and scooted closer, slowly running her fingers over the creatures head. Toothless started purring and she smiled. She felt so happy at that moment. All because of a guy who listened to her and cared about her. She felt so lucky.

Switching her eyes from the half-asleep cat, she looked at Hiccup and his features. His already saggy hair was a mess and she wanted to run her fingers through it and feel the texture of it. She studied his face for a while.

His eyebrows were thick but well-groomed. His eyelashes were long, - for being a guy, of course - and freckles were scattered all over his face. She could probably count them or make constellations out of them.

His lips were thin but rosy pink and soft. He had a light stubble on his jaw and it made him so much hotter, - at least, that's what she thought.

Hiccup suddenly turned his head towards her and peeked at her with one eye open. "Who's the one staring now?" He asked with a smirk.

Astrid turned her head and blushed. Hiccup chuckled. "It's fine. I stare at you enough anyway. It's payback, I guess," He said.

Astrid cocked her head.

"Is it okay if I take a shower?"

"Of course. The shower is bigger upstairs," He pointed out. "Thank you."

Hiccup sat up and stretched his arms over his head, yawning. Astrid did the same and he laughed at her. "I'm gonna make the bed and make breakfast while you shower, okay?" He aske and slipped out of bed.

"Sure. It won't take long, I promise."

"Don't worry, take your time."

Hiccup was about to go into their room to make the bed when he heard her voice upstairs. Walking up, he wondered what she wanted. However, walking closer to the bathroom door, he realized she wasn't talking to him, but actually singing. He wanted to walk away to leave her alone but his legs wouldn't move.

He stayed and listened to her. He didn't know what song she was singing but it was beautiful and it sent shivers down his back.

Over the water pouring, he heard her sing, "'Cause I am hurting but I'm not helpless, full of strength and scars. I'm out here in the darkness, looking for a light to call home," And it sent new shivers down his back for every sentence.

The vocals made him want to melt.

He had no idea Astrid could sing but, gods, she could and it was beautiful. She was beautiful. Could she be more perfect than she already was? He knew that to some people, she might have been "damaged" but, to him, she was the most perfect human being ever. She was kind and sweet and beautiful and...he loved her.

They had a past together that she might not remember but he hoped he could tell her all of the things he knew.

The shower water turned off and he heard Astrid sigh. That was his cue. He smiled before turning and slowly walking down the stairs and into their room to make the bed. He heard Astrid strut down the stairs when he put the last pillow into its significant place.

He turned around, expecting her to be dressed but there she was, her golden hair was damp and she had a towel around her. Her eyes met his and she blushed. "S-sorry, I...I forgot my clothes in here," She said and pointed to the pile of folded clothes.

"It's...it's fine. I'll change too, I guess. Is cereal and toast okay for breakfast?" He asked. Astrid nodded. "Thank you, Hiccup."

Hiccup gave her a small smile before turning towards his wardrobe, pulling out a loose T-Shirt and a pair of black jeans and then disappearing out the room, closing the door behind him.

Astrid sighed, brushing a hand through her damp hair. She sat down on the edge of the bed, towel still around her and she looked at the pile of clothes.

She looked around and registered the decoration in the room properly for the first time.

The walls were light grey with black curtains framing the window. There were stool-shaped black nightstands on each side of the bed with green bedside lamps. Now that she thought about it, there were green accent colors scattered all over the room. The desk on the right side of the doorway was black with green pen holders and maps. On the left side of the door stood a big white wardrobe. The room was simple, really.

Big grey bed with white covers and green decoration pillows, a white chest at the end of the bed, - probably for storage - black nightstands, green lamps, black clock, white wardrobe and two small fluffy carpets on each side of the bed, over the wooden floors.

She really liked this setup. It was cozy but pretty and relaxing at the same time.

She heard Hiccup's voice in the living room. "You hungry, buddy?" And then there was a long and obnoxious, "Meow," coming from the cat. "God, you're so annoying." Toothless hiss was heard. "Fine. I love you but, still."

Astrid snorted and shook her head.

She stood up and dropped the towel, grabbing her underwear and slipping them on. She grabbed the sports bra from the pile and slipped it on. She liked wearing them more than bras because they were more comfortable than wired bras.

Slipping the loose long-sleeved shirt over her head, she sighed before grabbing the soft jogger pants and pulling them up her legs, her socks following.

Astrid grabbed her hair and threw it over one of her shoulders before opening the door and exiting the room, meeting Hiccup with a smile in the kitchen.
