Chapter 45
(A/N: This is my cat Maya. This is what I think Stormfly looks like in this story since the Light Fury would be a white cat with blue eyes.)
Toothless stretched as he heard the front door slam shut. Turning his head to look at his best friend, he crooned and Stormfly awoke, her eyes landing on him. He looked towards the door and trotted up to the two people walking in, holding some sort of carrier or something he wasn't familiar with.
Hiccup carefully put down the baby carrier on the floor before turning towards Astrid and helping her take her coat off. Valka walked out of the living room and stood at the door, looking at the three.
"Welcome home," She said with a smile and walked up to them, crouching down and looking at little Abigail. "Hello there," She said and ran her pointer finger along her granddaughter's puffy cheek.
"Hey, mom," Hiccup greeted once he took his coat off and hanged it on the hanger. "Hey, Valka," Astrid greeted as she stepped further into the house, rolling her shoulders and throwing her braid over her shoulder. Valka greeted her with a smile.
"How was the road home?" She asked. "Oh, nothing too bad. The road is a little slippery and we got caught behind a snow plowing truck but we're here, safe and sound," Hiccup said and saw Toothless trot up to them along with Stormfly tagging along behind him.
Astrid was about to say something when Hiccup interrupted her with a smile, "Don't worry, M'lady. He won't hurt Abigail," He said softly.
Watching the two cats trot up to the carrier, Toothless stopped beside it and carefully leaned into it, sniffling at the significantly smaller human being inside. His cold, wet nose touched the infant's cheek and she started fuzzing, eyes opening.
Greenish-blue eyes landed on the black furry creature and their eyes met. Toothless crooned and licked the baby's cheek with the tip of his tongue, - the part that wasn't covered with papillae.
Abigail giggled and reached forward, grabbing a small fistful of his whiskers.
Astrid hissed and was about to reach down when she noticed that Toothless just stood there and let her handle him as she wanted.
"I have never seen a cat let anyone do that before," Valka said softly. "He must be special," She added on with a small smile as she looked at her son.
Hiccup nodded. "Trust me, he is special. He was the meanest, wildest cat at the shelter and the workers warned me about not getting him because he could trash the whole place but, we connected and he changed. He became calmer and more relaxed. I guess he just had trust issues and was extremely scared but then realized I didn't want to hurt him and he became the most amazing and well-trained cat ever. Aside from being very sassy, of course," He said with a chuckle.
"Just like his owner," Astrid said and nudged his shoulder.
"Oh, hush, you," Hiccup muttered and shot her a smirk.

Hiccup ran his hand through his damp hair, walking into their room and catching Astrid breastfeeding little Abigail. He smiled and closed the door behind him, leaving a small gap for the cats to come in if they wanted.
Hiccup leaned against the wall beside the door and crossed his arms, smiling at his fiancé.
Astrid looked up. "What are you looking at?" She asked, her lips tugging into a smile. "Gods, you're beautiful," Hiccup confessed and walked over to her, a sight limp in his stride.
Astrid's smile widened and she looked down at her daughter. He pressed a kiss to her head and she looked up at him.
Hiccup pressed a small kiss to the top of Abigail's head, her fuzzy blonde hair tickling his chin. "I love you both so much," He whispered and leaned in, pressing his lips against Astrid's.
She hummed and pulled back when she heard the baby whine.
Hiccup looked down at his daughter with hearts in his eyes.
They had made it. They had loved each other to the full extent and made such a perfect child. He would never be able to thank her enough for giving him what he had always wanted.
Moving, he walked around the bed and sat down on his side, undoing his prosthetic before settling down beside his fiancé and looking at Abigail.
"She's perfect," He said softly, smiling and kissing Astrid's naked shoulder. "Yeah. She's also biting me hard," She said, whining at the feeling of gums closing in over a sensitive nipple.
Hiccup chuckled into her shoulder and lifted his hand, slipping a finger into the baby's incredibly small hand.
Astrid smiled. There was something about Hiccup's hands that she couldn't explain. They simply looked nice. Most guys had rough, cracked hands with ugly cut nails and bloody cuticles but his...calloused, soft...nice.
Astrid slowly pulled one of her arms away from the bundle and grabbed his hand, pulling it away from Abigail's hand and pressing the back of his hand to her lips.
"I love you," She said softly, her warm breath washing over his skin. Hiccup smiled at her and kissed her cheek.
"You have no idea how much I actually love you. God, you're so amazing in so many ways. You tolerate me and you decided to love me, - enough to give me this miracle," Hiccuo said and gestured to his daughter. "The fact that you carried her for nine months and gave birth to her...I can't believe it. I'll never be able to thank you for everything," He finished, slipping his arm around her stomach, - careful with Abigail - and hugged her, kissing her collar.
Astrid placed her hand at the back of his head, brushing her fingers through his hair. "No need to thank me. I should thank you for being there for me. For loving me, believing in me and giving me a life worth living. Thank you."
Hiccup smiled, inhaling deeply.
He was so lucky to have her and Abigail and that's all that mattered in that moment.
