Chapter 22

"Remember, you can always call me and tell me what you want to do with that house of yours," Stoick said as he walked the couple out to the door. "I will. I think I'll put it up for sale but, as I said, I want to go back and get the stuff I need before either throwing out the stuff I don't need or giving them to a second hand," Astrid said, talking to Stoick as they walked out the door.

Hiccup pushed the button on the car keys and unlocked the car.

Stoick nodded before looking at his son. "Hiccup, what do you even need that big of a car for?" Stoick joked. Hiccup turned around and put his elbow on the hood of the car and leaned against it, looking at his father.

"I'm prepared. I might get a big family someday, I want a big car. Plus, it's comfy, got a lot of trunk space, it's got Bluetooth, it's got enough muscle to tow up to eight-thousand pounds and  it's a six-speed, automatic transmission with a 5.3 liter, V8 Motor. What else can you ask for?" Hiccup asked, cocking his head to the side.

Stoick rolled his eyes.

That kid and his brain for cars.

Astrid's eyes drifted between her boyfriend to the Mayor before she broke the awkward silence, saying, "Well, I think we should head home," and then climbing into the car.

Hiccup dropped his hand on the hood, creating a small bang from the metal before nodding. "I agree, M'lady," Hiccup said before walking to the driver side and hopping in.

"See you soon, dad," Hiccup said joyfully with a rolled down window, looking at his father from behind the windshield.

Astrid waved.

"See you soon, you two," Stoick said, waving.

Hiccup started the car and slowly backed out of the driveway before indexing to the left as he turned out. Beeping once, the two waved one last time before driving off.

The couple sat quietly in the car as Hiccup drove home. He looked at her before looking back at the road. "Do you...maybe, want us to go to your house and pick up a few stuff before going through what you need and don't need? I know my dad. He's gonna ask you every day if we don't get to it right away," Hiccup said, smiling slightly.

"Yeah. I guess we could do that. I already know where everything is but, I want to go through my parents' stuff...I never threw anything out when I moved and I haven't gone through them since I moved back here. Everything's in boxes in their old room," Astrid said, slowly.

Hiccup gazed at her for a second and her eyes were watering. "Hey, I'm here, okay. I'll always be here," He said and pulled his right hand away from the steering wheel, holding it out for her.

Astrid looked at him before placing her left hand into his and intertwining her fingers with his. "I know, babe. Thank you."

"Anything for M'lady, right?" He asked with a smile.

They didn't say anything during the whole trip. Hiccup just kept holding her hand and stroking his thumb over the back of it.

They pulled into the driveway to Hiccup's house and the garage door opened in front of them. Hiccup spoke up before he noticed her raising an eyebrow at it. "I heard it was going to hail and a storm blowing through the town tonight so I want to put everything in the garage. Don't want to break someone's window with a flying table, right? Help me?" He asked.

"Sure," Astrid said and let go of his hand, unbuckling her seatbelt and opening the door, getting out.

Hiccup looked at her before slowly driving into the garage. When he had parked, he got out and saw Astrid walking in with plants and chairs from the yard.

He locked the car and helped her get the table into the garage before running to the backyard and getting a few plants from there too.

"That should be it, I think. If not, we'll see in the morning," He said as he placed down one last plant on the floor.

"I guess. Come on, I'm cold and I'm tired," Astrid said, wrapping her arms around herself. Hiccup wrapped his arm around her shoulder and they walked out of the garage. He closed the door by pushing the button for it and then, they walked in.

Taking off their shoes, they were greeted by two cats flopped out on the floor at the foot of the couch.

"Burrr," Astrid shook herself slightly before walking over to the two cats and petting them.

"I'm gonna get the bed ready," Hiccup said, walking into their room. "Okay. I'll be there soon. I'm just gonna change their water and give them food," Astrid said, standing up and going over to the bowls.

Hiccup sighed with a smile and pulled the decoration pillows off the bed, putting them in the box right at the foot of the bed where they belonged before folding the cover.

"Mhhh, sleep," Astrid sighed and stretched, pulling her shirt off of her. She folded it, not knowing why since it was laundry. "I feel the same. It's been a long day and we better get some sleep. It's gonna be a long day ahead of us tomorrow," Hiccup said, walking over to her and placing his hands on her arms, leaning down and pressing a kiss to her neck and shoulder.

"I know. Come on, let's brush our teeth and then we can sleep," She said and turned around, grabbing his hand and tugging him into the bathroom.

After brushing their teeth and changing, they got into bed and Astrid immediately yawned. Hiccup chuckled at her and leaned over to her, pressing a kiss to her cheek.

Astrid hummed and laid down, covering herself slightly. Hiccup turned the lights off on the nightstand and laid down beside her, covering himself too and pulling her against him.

As wrapped an arm around his waist as he did the same, burying his nose into her hair.

"I love you, babe," Astrid whispered into his bare chest. "I love you too, M'lady," He said softly, pulling back his head and pressing his lips against hers for a second.

Going back to his latest position, he started moving his thumb over her bare back, under the shirt.

They slowly fell asleep to the sound of wind softly howling and the rain hitting the window.
