Hope
"Where is that agon?" She sighed just as a trail of black smoke came floating in. As the young agon took form Suada could hardly hold back her exasperation. "Not even being careful like we discussed! Where have you been!? GO! Put this on and don't bother with any excuses!" She growled as she threw a dress at Semmy and pushed her behind the curtain.
"Pantha, I thought you didn't want me be excited." Semmy laughed as she looked at the dress. With a winding choker neck and a design of Daer'Ishaan colors mixed with the black and white of the Fum'Oto.
"Not excited, but not late either. This is very important, and even if it begins to seem like The Under, you must keep up appearances." Suada explained as she picked up a piece of jewelry and passed it behind the curtain to Semmy. "Are you listening to me?" Suada questioned as she went to grab the next piece.
"I suppose, but I always keep up appearances don't I?" Semmy shrugged. "Besides, once Auster gets back it won't matter." Semmy sighed putting on the earrings and stepped from behind the curtain. Before she could look for the mirror Suada pulled her arm and slammed her to the wall. "Wha-"
"You are an imbecile if you believe for one second they are going to bring him back in anything but box - or in pieces. If and I mean a really large if - he comes back he will have a target on his back the size of Zhagozie." Suada whispered through the tears as they fell. As she let Semmy go, the young agon fought back tears of her own.
"Why are you doing this? Why is everyone doing this today?" Semmy demanded pushing passed Suada.
"Everyone?" Suada asked reaching for Semmy's shoulder. Semmy brushed her off to stand in the mirror.
"Nevermind it." She sighed. "I understand." She looked down. "I just, wanted today to be good for once. You say don't look forward to it - and now you say I shouldn't look forward to seeing Auster again. Am I not allowed to have any hope?" Semmy asked looking up at Suada through the mirror.
"No... Not for this and certainly not for him." Suada sighed stepping forward to stand behind Semmy. She grasped her shoulders and turned her around to face her. "I need you to understand - that they sent him away hoping to kill him. They sent him to the frontlines to fight their rebellion. A fight that has claimed countless zheragon to the needs of the elves. Dragons are treated as nothing but weapons there and your brother was young. Too young." Suada sighed. "I have something to tell you." She turned Semmy back around to face the mirror. "Look."
Looking in the mirror, her thick black locks were long with gold beads and charms scattered throughout. Her skin was the color of a sweet milk chocolate. Her black markings faded from grey to white like a haze of smoke around her temples and down her neck. Her nose was small round and wide set - perfect for her pronounced cheek bones. Her chin was small but distinct and her lips were slightly plump yet not overtly pronounced in shape. Her jaw was neither wide nor thin and her neck neither long nor short.
Her dress, was divine. The Daer'Ishaan colors did nothing to shame the clearly Fum'Oto inspired design. The choker like collar appeared to be to separate cloths, one red and one black, wrapping together as it spun out to two sides to cup her breasts and continued to twine around her white bodice exposing her belly button and then coming together to form the skirt that split on both sides of the leg as it billows out into a voluminous ballgown silhouette. Cascading elegantly to the floor in layers of sumptuous black tulle, each layer of tulle added dimension and movement to the skirt. Adorning the skirt and trailing up the bodice were intricate embroideries of majestic dragons, rendered in rich shades of purple and red. Their scales shimmering in the light with exquisite detail.
"You are O'zheni. You are Fum'Atumoyo and better yet you're an agon. You did not have the luxury of learning from your parents what it means to be an agon of your tribe - but you are the one who must save your tribe. Not Auster." Once again she turned the agon to face her. "Whether he was here or no. You must bear the burden that comes with the title. Your father - was a great leader. There was mourning in the streets when his sister caved to illness at a young age - because it is the females - the agons that are precious. I have neglected to teach you properly because you needed to fit in here where it is a gon's world - and because Fum'oto culture is guarded closely like a secret. You are a people of mystery and shadow. But no more - you my cub - will bring your people back to the light. Yet, you cannot do so alone, and you won't have to. I promise - you won't always feel alone." At this Suada hugged her and held her close. "You cannot trust to hope, but you -"A horn sounded, like a sweet hum it called to the masses to begin the celebration.
Semmy looked into the mirror again and sighed. "It's time, I won't be a cub anymore."
