Ch 28: The God's purpose
Natsu POV
I watched as my once so feared father, the man I feared my whole life, the one who didn't fear anything at all, took a step back. The satisfaction was beyond overwhelming. It was so nice to feel your once terrible feared past, now fears you and you alone. I smirked and licked my upper teeth, feeling my abnormally sharp and long fangs graze my tongue.
I stood there looking at his now weak self. He seemed a little stressed and worried. He also seemed angry and trying to hide all three emotions behind a cold stare, but it didn't work out. My eyes are too keen now for something like that.
I lunged forward running at him claws lit with white flames in one hand and black in the other. I was moving to fast for even him to see or hear. I quickly slashed both his wings so I wouldn't have to worry about him flying, then jumped away. By the time he knew what was happening I had already been back to where I was and his wings had been shredded. To them it must have not even looked like I moved.
I watched as my father let out a pained roar and ran at me. He kept his head low down so to send me flying probably. Now I have two options, dodge and he runs into a wall, or fight him and push him back. I chuckled licking the blood off my claws. "Of course I'm going to pick fight!"
He rammed into him but he was way too strong for something like this. He held him back with just one hand on the overgrown lizard's snout. Barely moving at all while he was struggling. I laughed at the sight of it which only made him more mad.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw him raise his tail and swing it around. "Like hell im going to fall for that trick twice." He whipped it around and almost hit Natsu in the head, but he just caught the tail with his other hand. His eyes widened and I smiled "come on now, you really are an old man."
I had gotten too comfortable. I heard a sizzling sound and didn't realize that I was now in the air and my side was burned by Chaos fire. "Tch that stupid lizard." I spread my wings quickly and hovered in mid air. The burn didn't really hurt that much and it healed quickly as well as the silver scales covering the area.
"Flightless or not your father is powerful. Why do you think there's only one god dragon left! Your father killed them all!" Silver shouted at him mentally. I froze.
'Father was the one who killed you all?'
'Yes! He killed the others because we refused to bow down to him as king. He was a Chaos dragon and we knew it would end badly. Now here's proof!
'Well I can't disagree with you.'
If I want to win then I need to use more then just silver. I sighed, closing my eyes and fully concentrating, ignoring the people yelling that a fire blast was coming straight for me. "Freyr, my dragon" I felt my bones began to shift and muscles begin to stretch, "Arkos, my darkness" I felt the presence shift in my mind making my senses heighten and power increase "and E.N.D," as I said this my eyes shot open "my demon!"
A dark light exploded in the area around me. I was back in dragon form, but my beady eyes were scarlet red my body was silver with black markings now and my flames white like snow. I roared and saw the fire they warned me about. The sides of my mouth turned up a little in a smile. I raise one of my paws and smacked the fireball right back at him. It hit him right in the side of his face and he screeched in agony. Everyone present covered their ears except me, it was music to mine.
I took this chance and pounced on him. I wrapped my jaws around his right arm and bit down hard, eventually hearing a crunch and tearing it off. He bit down on my wing but it didn't make much of a dent. I pushed him off and shot a long continuous blast of white flames at him, he countered it though with his black ones creating a battle between the two in the middle. I pushed the beam in my favor for a second, but then the black flames grew stronger and I wasn't ready for it. They slowly started pushing my flames back, further and further.
'I can't loose!' Behind me stood half of my guildmates. They're in the line of fire if I dodge. "NOOOO!" A sudden burst of energy overwhelmed me. My talons shook and I could feel a crawling sensation under my skin all over my body. The white flames grew brighter and began to push back the black ones.
The grin my father had quickly disappeared and I took a step forward. I smirked "your done for father. See you in hell." I watched as the flames overwhelmed him and sent him right into the trees with a huge explosion.
When the smoke cleared I transformed back, the silver scales still on my body. I saw my fathers body which laid in the corner of the clearing. He wasn't moving and wasn't breathing. Several people and dragons gathered around to see the result. One dragon pushed there way through the crowd and laid its gentle paw on his scaly chest. She shook her head. "He's dead at last."
I smiled and felt arms wrap around my waist from the side. I looked down and saw Luce smiling up at me. Her brown eyes tearing up. I gave her my signature smirk and kissed her. She melted into it, but I soon pulled away. Out of the corner of my eyes I watched as the dragons one by one began to bow down. "Long live the king! Long live the king! Long live the king!" They all shouted. Luce giggled and I chuckled.
Our happiness was interrupted though. A whirring noise followed by an overwhelmingly bright golden light gained our attention. In the middle of the clearing was now a gate. It floated 10 feet in the air with white steps leading up to it. All the dragons eyes were on me. My heart felt like it was crushed in my chest. "Well I guess this is it...." I said knowing full well what this was. Everyone looked at me confused except the dragons. They gave me sad smiles knowing what I needed to do.
"What's going on Natsu?" Luce said, letting go of me and looking up at me worriedly. "What do you mean 'this is it!' She quoted with a scream. I flinched knowing that I should have told her this sooner. I sadly sighed and pat her head "it's the price of being a god." I looked next to me as Silver's spirit appeared and nodded. She looked at me then at Silver, then back at me.
She covered her mouth, tears rapidly rolling down her cheeks. That was all I had to see to know she figure it out. "Don't you dare Natsu!" I looked away, I couldn't see her like this. "Dragons don't belong here, that is Silver's purpose. Dragons destroy everything when under the power of a king. When under the power of a god they can finally rest. Now that I have become the god dragon, I must lead my people back to where we belong. The realm of the gods." Luce was full on sobbing and I could hear Juvia and Wendy crying as well. Erza gave me a sad understanding expression as she tried to calm Lucy down.
"So your going to just leave us! After all we've been through! Your just going to leave me! Her too!" I gritted my teeth, biting back a scream, but she kept going. "What are we going to do without you!? How am I going to explain to her that her father is gone!?" That made my heart break and I snapped.
"You think this is easy for me!? Leaving all of you!? I wouldn't wish this fate upon my worst enemy!" I screamed at her, she looked at me wide eyed but I didn't stop. "I love you and her so much! I don't want to go! I wouldn't if I didn't have to!"
I turned back around. My emotions overwhelming me as I felt tears dripping down my cheeks. Most of the dragons had. Already crossed over. I saw Zero looking at me at the top of the stairs I just nodded and he nodded back entering the white portal and disappearing. I sighed and slowly began to climb the stairs up to the portal. My feet moving so slow yet it all felt so fast. I heard Lucy screaming and I bunch of others crying as well as Makarov's voice saying to hold Luce down. She screamed my name as she and others in the group continued to sob.
Memories of the past few months began to flood into my head. 'She wasn't hurt but she was begging for them not to hurt me. She was crying because of me. "Natsu eat or I'm going to feed you the rest of the steak!" "Natsu!" "Natsu don't touch that!" "Natsu I'm sorry!" "Happy new year Natsu!"
"My name is Lucy, Lucy Heartfilia. What about you?" I didn't reply. I didn't want to. She looked a little sad and for some reason i didn't like it. I sighed "Natsu, Natsu Dragneel."
I heard a chiming noise as half of me entered the portal. I used my hand to wipe my tears away and looked back at her. "Thank you Lucy Heartfilia, and thank you Fairy Tail," he gave them a toothy grin "for giving me my life back." With that I turned and walked into the portal and it closed behind me.
Third POV
Lucy stopped crying. She stopped moving all together. She watched as the portal disappeared and Natsu along with it. The emptiness undid her. "Natsu," she said, her voice shaking "w-why?" She sniffled and wiped her tears but new tears just replaced them.
She looked up at the empty space where he once was and sadly smiled. "I love you" she whispered.
Yet unknown to Lucy, the Celestial maiden, her belt no longer consisted of 15 keys of 10 gold 5 silver, but now it was 10 gold, 5 silver,
and one white.
