Ch 25: My princess is a dragon killer
Lucy POV
It feels like I've been wandering the forest for an hour now. There were some dragons, but with this armor they were easily taken care of. I hope Erza is doing okay since she hasn't had as much time to warm up to her's. Every little sound I heard made my head snap around towards it. Mostly it was just critters of the forest some occasional dragons that were too easy to strike down.
A loud Russell in the bushes was followed by a large dragon charging fast through the undergrowth. I spun around quickly, skidding my foot through the dirt causing a small dust cloud. I have to cut him down. I raised my sword so it was level with my face. "Dragon killer, piercing fang!" The sword glowed a pale blue glow. As I jabbed at the dragon it left a streak of light as I moved it quickly.
I couldn't believe my eyes. I turned so fast that everything seemed to go in slow motion. The dragon had dodged. I looked up as it glided only a few feet above my head. The dragon is a creamy color with blue swirls all over and now I saw that on its white underbelly was a long scar. It was frightening to see. The scar looked like a claw mark, but from what? It looks deep too, but that should have killed it. It landed on the other side of the path I was following and continued to sprint into the woods.
"Well that was weird..." then it hit me. The roaring and flashing lights were coming from that direction. Natsu and Acnologia are fighting there. That dragon... it seemed determined otherwise it probably would have come after me. I didn't think twice and raced after it. The boost gave me some extra speed, but I still couldn't catch up to it. It's going to try and intervene in the fight!
I twisted and leaped through the rough terrain. I have to catch up! The dragon kept racing on further towards the light on the other side of what seemed to be a wall of boulders. I felt scrapes from twigs and rocks against my legs and arms, but I kept running. I have to stop her. I scrambled at my side for one of my keys, thankfully finding what I was looking for.
"Open! Gate of the maiden! Virgo!" The all too familiar chiming sound of the gate opening told me she was here. I looked to my left and she was running fast alongside me. Matching my pace perfectly. "Punishment time princess?" "What?! No!" I was sort of expecting that so I'm not sure why I acted so surprised. "Why are we running princess? Is something chasing you?" I shook my head "Quite the opposite Virgo," I looked back ahead at the creamy scaled dragon "we are chasing something."
She looked ahead at where I was looking her blue eyes remained that calm stare, but I could tell realization hit her. "What can I do to help princess?" She asked looking at me. I actually haven't thought that far yet. I looked around trying to come up with a plan as quickly as possible.
Then it hit me, well more like splashed on me. The ground was muddy from the siren dragon running across it. It should be nice and soft then. "Virgo Tunnel under the ground and catch up to the dragon. Try to make it fall into the tunnel and stuck with the mud!" Virgo nodded her head and disappeared into the ground. I kept running pushing the speed boost to the limit of what I could handle which is the speed of a cheetah!
I was closing in on the dragon, but I couldn't get close enough to take it down. I don't know if the dragon noticed me, but it started letting its tail swish wildly. Knocking down trees and pushing boulders while it moved.
I dodged every single one, mostly. I got a scratch on my leg from One of the logs logs. I twisted and turned, ducked and jumped over the different debris that was flung at me. Yet I still couldn't catch the darn dragon. It was just too fast. The light from the clearing where Natsu is, was fast approaching. The only thing that stood in that dragon's way was 8 feet tall iron boulders that where placed here long ago. I have to think of something else.
I grabbed my keys settling on Loke's and pulling it away from the rest. "Open! Gate of the," I stopped. A loud thump was heard echoing through the forest. The dragon had jumped and knocked over the boulder with brute strength. I was staring in awe, but the dragon seemed to have stopped. News my chance.
I saw the clearing now it was short grass with huge patches of dried dirt that hardened like a rock. Trees outlined the other side as well and to the north was a large beautiful waterfall that fell into the pond below. Near the waterfall Sode stood Acnologia himself. His black scales seemed to be shimmering in the sunlight from the mist form the waterfall. His wings were out stretched making him look a lot bigger and scarier and his mouth was slightly open to show tiny, white, razor sharp teeth. His neck had a gash on it that was slowly healing it's self. Natsu must have bit him.
Natsu in dragon form stood in the sunlight. That showed through the dissipating clouds. His wings were tucked and he stood crouched down a little his tail swishing wildly creating a dust cloud. On his mouth was a huge blood stain as well as on his side.
The two dragons seemed to have noticed the entry of the third who was still completely unaware of my presence. As if on cue as the dragon raised its wings the wet ground below gave out underneath it. It fell with a shriek of terror. I smirked to myself as I jumped up onto the boulder, ran across it and jumped down onto the dragon, plunging my sword through its neck. I held there for a few second then pulled the sword back out and the dragon went limp.
I looked to the side to see Virgo standing there. I give her a small smile before she nodded and her gate closed. I turned my attention to the dragons. Acnologia I could tell was furious and Natsu was grinning his butt off. It was kind creepy looking given his current form, but at least he was smiling. "Good job Princess." He said in a serious yet happy tone of voice. His distorted voice in this form just ruined all the complements though.
Acnologia roared out in anger and when I looked he was charging his roar. I froze. I can't run I won't be able to run far enough. Can I dodge? No there's no way I could. Blocking is definitely out of the question. I was snapped from my thoughts by the sound of crushing rock.
There was a Acnologia sized and shaped dent in the side of the waterfall's mountain. Rocks tumbled down from the huge gap into the water below. Their laid Acnologia, half in the water half out breathing heavily. Something didn't look right, he must've at least broken a few ribs from that. Natsu rammed him into the waterfall. It seemed to have tired him a little though.
"Go princess, run!" Natsu yelled at me in his distorted creepy voice. He seemed really weakened by that attack. It must have taken a lot of energy to push him, let alone send him flying. I didn't want to leave him alone with that thing! "I'm not leaving!" I heard a faint sigh from across the clearing. Natsu looked back at me his beady white eyes locked on me as if to stare into my soul. That glance told me everything, how he felt, the compassion he felt towards all of us and the fear that he might loose one of us, that glance told me enough that convinced me to go. I knew it was the right thing to do.
I gave him a sweet smile before running off back over the dead dragon and the boulder, down into the woods once more. I ran through the forest at half the speed of earlier, my feet making a squishing sound form the mud every time I took a step. I smiled, just to myself. "I'm counting on you, Natsu." I took my free hand and lightly touched my stomach. "Not Just for my sake, for both of us. She needs you too."
