Chapter XXXX- The dress
Sophie:
"What about this dress?" Muirgen offered an embroidered heavy black dress in her hand.
"I would possibly collapse under its weight, it is not cold here like it is in the night court," I said while twirling a golden strand of my hair.
A pile of dresses lay at the foot of the bed I was laying on, as Muirgen and I tried to come up with something to wear tonight. There were so many beautiful dresses, but I wanted to wear something... completely different than anything I had before.
Muirgen huffed, "What even is your favorite color?"
I paused, rolling onto my back and staring at the star covered ceiling, "The color of the clouds at sunset, the color of rays of sunlight, the color of a flame reflecting on gold."
"Sophie, I love you, but you have a way of being overdramatic and blunt in one sitting that is rather unsettling," Muirgen tossed her fiery hair. She kept flipping through the dresses before she paused. I watched as a smile crept over her face. "The color of a flame reflecting on gold, eh?"
I shot up in bed to glance at the dress. My jaw dropped at the sight. It was made of fabric I had never seen the likes of before. It was silk-like, sheer, and almost holographic all at once. The color was... the color was truly the color of a frame reflected on gold. It was almost a golden pearlescent that changed colors when it caught the light, showing hints of oranges, pinks and yellow tones.
Not even noticing the shape, I quickly climbed out of bed, almost falling on my face before landing right in front of the dress, "I need that on my body. Now."
Muirgen smiled as I basically ripped off my clothing stripped completely naked in a hurried frenzy. I grabbed the dress from her hands, and slid it over my head.
The soft material glided effortlessly down my body. Nothing I had ever put on had felt like this.
I hurried to the bathroom, and looked in the mirror. I almost shrieked in excitement at what I saw.
The dress was long, it would swirl at my ankles even if I was wearing heels. But, it didn't seem wildly formal like a lot of the other dresses. It was slip like, having no waist. It had a high slit on the side of the leg, reaching up to my upper thigh. The back was low, and strappy, criss crossing back and forth. The neckline was cowled, showing off my.. Assets very well.
The whole dress did. Show off my assets, that is. It was sheer so in the light, you should see the silhouette of my curves though the dress.
I had never felt so... I don't even know how to describe it. I felt amazing.
"Holy shit," Muirgen breathed, I spun around to smile at her.
"So what do you think?"
"I think..." She started walking around me slowly, as if taking in every detail of the dress, "I think the dress was made for you in mind."
I beamed, a blush creeping onto my cheeks. Whenever someone complimented me, I couldn't help but blush wildly. I just wasn't... used to it.
"Let me braid your hair and do your makeup, I promise you won't regret it," Muirgen vowed.
***
She was totally right. I didn't regret it, I thought as I checked out her handiwork.
My hair was in soft waves, and somehow, it was littered with golden stars, as if the heavens above had dusted my hair with their blessing. My green eyes looked doll like and shone brightly set against the dark liner she had used. My face looked the same as usual but maybe a bit bronzed. My freckles decided to make a bit more of an impression than I had thought but I looked... ethereal.
If this is what I can look like as a human, imagine what I would look like once I'm fully fae.
That thought filled me with mixed emotions, but I didn't have time to ponder or think though my feelings before a knock sounded at the door.
My heart dropped when I heard that knock. I could feel my hands shaking and my breath speeding up.
Why was I so nervous? I wasn't my first run in with Ciar and I seriously doubt it would be my last. I mean... He had slept with me and seen me in a bathtub and yet, I felt more vulnerable than ever as I reached to open the door.
I sucked in a breath as I took in the sight before me and I noticed he did the same. Ciardha looked... he looked so good I was beginning to feel... feelings I rarely felt. A hot blush crept over my face. I gulped.
"You look..." He breathed in as if drinking in my appearance. He shook his head, as if trying to get his thoughts together, "Not artist in any realm would even begin to capture how beautiful you look right now."
I glanced down at my feet. Even in the nude heels Muirgen gave me, I was shorter than Ciardha. I must have looked like a pomegranate at this point.
"Thank you," I muttered, in a barely audible tone.
He cleared his throat awkwardly, "Come, follow me."
I quickly did as he said, and walked next to him, his hand hovering right behind my lower back to guide me as we walked. I had an intense urge to grab that hand and wrap it around my waist.
Get your shit together Sophie, you're no blushing virgin, you should not be acting like one, I thought to myself
But, what I hadn't realized is I may have lost my virginity in the back of a car with a boy who would never love me, but I was certainly still innocent. That innocence would not return with me when I returned to the human realm though.
I followed Ciardha blindly though the twists and turns of the dark castle before we came to a set of large, heavy, double doors.
"This is all for you," He said as he pushed them open.
