♚️The Change In My Life Chapter Two♚️

My name is Mya Vigilante, that's not my real last name but I don't know what it really is, so I just gave myself the last name Vigilante. Most people think what I do is a "Sinful act" but they don't know the real reason why I do it. What do I do? One my might ask. Well, that's easy. I pickpocket people. I swear I doing this for a good cause! People just don't understand. As I walked down the streets of New York I bumped into a man with a fancy-schmancy suit on. I apologized as walked away, I looked down smirking seeing that I took his wallet. These people who shop here don't deserve to have this much money. I then snapped out of my thoughts when I felt someone grab my wrist.

I looked behind me to see it was my friend Lucy. "Mya, you have to stop doing this one of these days your gonna get yourself caught," Lucy warned me. "I have a reason!" I shot back. "And that is?" Lucy asked as we walked into a nearby alleyway. I pulled down a white rope causing part of the fire escape to become undone. We climbed up till we reached to top door. I opened the door to reveal about 100 pets of every kind eager to see me. "Mya, what is this?" Lucy asked. "This is Mya's Pet Sanctuary. All the pets here have either been abused, abandoned, or are unwanted. If I find them on the streets of New York I bring them back here to take care of till they get better and I can find new owners for them" I explained as Lucy looked shocked.

"Mya, I never knew..." Lucy started. "It's okay. I never told anyone about this place so you have no reason to apologize." I finished her sentence as I put down the bowls of food for the dogs and cats. "What's that empty water jug with money in it for?" Lucy asked pointing at the empty water jug. "That is where I put the leftover money I have been saving up the money to buy that empty shop across the street from here to make this an actual business," I answered as I rubbed one of the dogs head playfully. "Mya, I'm sorry I thought of you as a criminal before." Lucy apologized. "It's okay, I only do pickpocketing so I can provide for these cuties," I explained. "So how do the new owners know where to pick up their pets at?" Lucy asked. "I email them saying to meet me at the bakery downstairs so I can meet the new owner face to face. You know to see if the owner is responsible enough to take care of the pet, see what the pets new house is to make sure it's safe enough for them, and the final test is to see if the pet chooses them." I explained but Lucy still looked a little confused.

"Here I'll show you, just stand perfectly still, if a pet comes to you it wants you to be its owner," I explained as Lucy nodded and stood in the middle of the room. A couple of seconds later I saw a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel walk up to Lucy. Lucy opened her eyes and squatted down to the dogs level. "Lucy this is Pepper, I found her in Times Square, she almost got run over by a car but I grabbed her in time," I explained as Pepper licked Lucy's face. "I think she likes you." I smiled as Lucy picked her up. "When I first found Pepper I knew she would be the perfect match for you." I reminisced as I grabbed a purple collar at attached it to Pepper's neck. "Mya, I can't possibly take her home. You're the one who found her she belongs to you, and my parents probably won't even let me keep her." Lucy explained as she passed Pepper back to me. Pepper then started whimpering.

"Tell your parents, that it was a gift from your boyfriend. You and Pepper have a special connection I just feel it, I know you're responsible enough to take care of Pepper and you live in a penthouse! And plus since Pepper chose you she obviously likes you." I explained as I gave her back Pepper. "Oh Mya, thank you so much! How can I ever repay you?" Lucy asked. "Don't sweat it, Lucy, you already paid me back my giving Pepper her a great home," I answered. "I got it! Follow me." Lucy smirked at me her and Pepper still in Lucy's arms climbed back down the fire escape. "What are you doing?" I asked as we crossed the street. Mya then knocked on the door that was next to the empty shop. Suddenly an old man answered the door. "Hello sir, are you selling that shop next door?" Lucy asked avoiding my question. "Yes, I am, where the paperwork is inside." The old man answered as we came inside.

We both sat on the couch, I looked at Lucy who had a huge grin on her face. What is she planning? "Okay miss, just sign here and initial here." The old man ordered as he placed the paper on the coffee table. "Mya, you gave me the present I always wanted since I was a little girl, so to thank you for making my wish come true... you are now the owner of Mya's Pet Sanctuary." Lucy smiled as I covered my mouth in shock. "Lucy you don't need to do this, I almost have enough to my it myse-" Lucy then cut me off. "Mya, I never saw anyone so devoted to animal safety as you are. I want you to find all those animals a home just like how I found Pepper. Here 10,000 that should be enough money for rent for the entire year." Mya explained as she wrote me and check for $10,000. "Lucy, I can't except this." I sighed. "Well your gonna, OMG!! I can be your first employee." Lucy squealed as I smiled.

It's been two weeks, business has been booming! So far 200 pets have been adopted! "Lucy, I can't thank you enough for all that you've done." I thanked as Lucy placed Pepper on the table and petted underneath her chin slightly. "This is all because of you, I should be the one thanking you. Ever since I've gotten Pepper she's been making my life happier each day." Lucy explained as I walked over to the spot where I kept all the cats. Most of them were either napping playing or eating. I opened the little fence and sat down. I smiled rolling a ball of yarn as the kittens chased it. I then heard the bells on the door jingle, signaling a customer has entered the store. "Hi, I'm Mya Vigilante, how can Mya's Pet Sanctuary help you today?" I asked the family of 3.

"You do know your name me criminal, right?" The father asked. "Don't mind him, we here to find a cat for our little girl here." The mother explained as I squatted down to the little girl's hight. "So what's your name little one?" I asked. "Suzy." The newfound Suzy answered. "Well Suzy, here at Mya's Pet Sanctuary we have a special way of selecting the perfect pet. See at normal pet stores you chose your cat or dog. But here the cat or dog will choose you." I explained as I opened the little fence to the gate area. "How do you do that?" Suzy asked. "Pets are a lot smarter than you think. Okay, Suzy all you have to do it sit here with your legs crossed and close your eyes, once you open your eyes again your perfect pet will have chosen you." I answered as Suzy did exactly what I told her to do.

"Does this method actually work?" The father asked. "100% of the time," I answered. "Pets choose owners just like how owners choose pets," I answered. "Your store is different from most pet stores." The mother observed. "Yep, all these pets have been rescued and brought here for us to take care of. Each animal has a story, just like humans do." I explained, "Suzy you can open your eyes now." I said as Suzy opened her eyes to see a cute black cat curled up on her lap. I entered into the cat area and kneeled down beside her.

"This is Cubellios. A lot of people didn't want to adopt him for a while since he was a black cat and people think these are unlucky. I found him under a bunch of old newspapers in the rain on the day. He was a lot of spunk just like you do, I can see you and him are gonna be great friends. But just because of the different and he has one purple eye and one blue eye doesn't mean he's not special. I can tell you and him will be great friends." I explained as Suzy picked up Cubellios. "Look Mama! The kitty chose me! It was like magic Mama!" Suzy gushed as I smiled. "Thank you so much, Mya." The father thanked as I gave them a bag of cat food and the left.

"How do you always know that that the method you use always works?" Lucy asked as she fed Pepper. "I don't know, I just always get this feeling when a customer comes in like of can sense that their perfect pet is here," I answered as I put on my sweater. "Anyway, you wanna sleep at my house tonight?" Lucy asked as I nodded. "Sit...stay.. good night guys. I'll see you tomorrow." I bid farewell blowing them a kiss. After I closed up shop it started to rain. I then remembered something. "Wait... I saved Pepper... right here. It was the exact spot I met you." I smiled as Pepper barked happily. "And I caught you taking my wallet... right here," Lucy added as she moved me 5 inches away from where she was. "I'm just lucky you didn't turn me into the cops." I thanked her as we got inside her house.

"Pepper and I are gonna turn in for the night. My room is the upstairs the second door on the right. My doors are always open if you need anything." Lucy smiled as she went up to her room. She really happy with Pepper, and I can tell Pepper is happy with her. I snapped out of my thoughts when I saw a green light flash by. "Huh?" I then looked around at saw the green light in the kitchen. But it wasn't a green light it was a butterfly about the size of my hand. The butterfly then flew upstairs past Lucy's room and into to plant room. The butterfly flew to the back wall of the room where all the soil is kept and some extra plants. I then saw something glowing behind a pile of soil bags.

I moved to bags to reveal an egg. Not just why normal egg it was pretty big and as shiny glossy green. I placed it on a nearby table and sat down in the chair. The butterfly then landed on the egg. Next thing I knew the entire room got engulfed in the eggs green light. I closed my eyes hoping I didn't die. When I opened my eyes I looked around to see I was in some type of crazy candy store. I looked down to see my outfit changed and so did my hair. I had on a mini mermaid-style peplum cut in the middle of her skirt. My top is neon yellow with musical note print, and the skirt is a light magenta color with pale pink swirls. I have a black vest with silver lining and matching black wedge heels. I had a silver turntable bag, black headphones, a crisscross stud wrap around my skirt and a few black bangles. 

I then felt something rub up against my leg I looked down to see it was a little green creature. The most distinguishing features are its lithe body structure and vegetation protruding from its body. Its tail and ears are stylized to resemble torn and tattered leaves. Besides the leaf-like ears and tail, there is a multitude of smaller leaves growing from its body; leaves grow out from the knee joint area on the forelegs and hind legs, it's chest and its back. A larger, curled leaf grows from the middle of its forehead and is same, soft-green color of all the other leaves. Its body is tan-colored while its feet are a brown color. It has a body structure which incorporates the traits of a feline or vulpine. "Why hello cutie, I'm gonna call you Riifia. It means plant in Japanese." I said as I looked to my left to see a girl with white wavy hair fast asleep on the candy cane throne with a pink little creature.

I sat down on the steps that led to the next level of the cand store. I then saw the green butterfly again as to stopped in front of me and created a green mist. After the mist cleared it revealed a woman with long green hair. He clothing consist of a green and white button down strapless top, a green skirt, white stocking with a green stripe, green boots, a white, thigh-ling cape, and 2 pairs of gloves: one being green and elbow-length, while the other being white and the standard length. "Who the heck are you? Where am I? What the heck the green thing? Who is she? Why am in a candy store? What was with that egg?" I asked as the last sighed. "I'm Reika and everything soon will be explained. For now, you need to sleep." The newfound Reika answered as she placed her palm on my forehead and  I passed out.
