Jeemin's POV.

"SURRENDER NOW OR ELSE GET READY TO DIE!"

It's hard to survive here! I wanna go back to my time...please! 

"Huh! Fools!" Yunki smirked and pushed a loose brick on the wall behind us. Immediately the wall parted and revealed a secret passage.

"CATCH THEM!"

Before I could even process anything, Yunki dragged me into the passage and took one of the torches, hanging on the wall, and set fire to the entrance. I sat on the rough ground, trying to catch my breath and process everything that just happened.

"You coming or not?" I heard Yunki. I looked up and saw him at a distance ahead of me. This guy works with the speed of light. When did he go there? Is he not even a tiny bit tired? I stood up and walked toward him.

"COME FAST ELSE THEY'LL PUT OUT THE FIRE AND CATCH US!" He again grabbed my hand and started to run! God! I want my normal life back again.

The secret passage led us to a river bank but Yunki still kept running until he felt we were safe!

He stopped when we reached a forest. We both sat under a tree while panting.

"I-I I wanna go home." Tears started to flow from my eyes.

Minister Kang's pain-stricken face came to my mind and I started to cry, "M-minister Kang! Why did this happen-"

"IT ALL HAPPENED BECAUSE OF THAT SNAKE, SEONGHO.......UGH!" He said throwing his sword away. Right Seongho! Who is that even? I think I've heard his name.....but.........

"Who is he?"

Yunki clenched his jaw and replied, "My most trusted warlord, Choi Seongho who decided to join hands with Cheena to overthrow me and claim the throne for himself. He led the Cheena forces into the castle!"

I felt a knot in my stomach. History says C-Choi Seongho was the one responsible for assassinating the devil king of Silla and his trusted minister, Kang Yunyon. So Yunki was referred to as the devil king and minister Kang's full name is Kang Yunyon? But was it mentioned that Seongho took the help of Cheena?! Ugh, why didn't I pay attention in my history classes? Wait, if Yunki and Kang both were assassinated, then.......

I looked at Yunki with wide eyes......

D-did the course of history change because of me?

"Ummm...is minister Kang's full name Kang Yunyon?" I asked and he nodded.

So this means history has been changed.

"You know what? I wanted to embrace death with Kang but he adores you way too much and he wanted you to live." He said.

"Not true, hyungnim! He was concerned about you as well! He wanted you to live too!"

As a reply, he just sighed.

"I WILL GET MY REVENGE! FREE MY MOTHERLAND AND WON'T LET KANG'S SACRIFICE GO IN VAIN! He punched the tree trunk as hard as he could and immediately blood started to ooze out of his knuckles.

"What are you doing?" I took his hands in mine. "Heal!" I healed his hands and looked at him, who was staring at me.

"Jeemin! Why does everyone betray me? Will you betray me too?" He was trying hard to hold his tears.

"Hyungnim, you're all I have here now! Minister Kang is no more, you're the only one I can look up to! I'll never betray you!" My voice cracked.

He gave me a small smile in reply, "Jeemin, let's pay our final respects to Kang!"

After taking a bath in a lake nearby, we paid our final respects to Kang and mourned his death together.

"Rest in peace, minister Kang! I still remember what you had asked me to do on the first day! 'No matter what, always live, my boy'. I'll live for you!" I sobbed.

"Thank you for everything, Kang, and sorry for everything as well. Wherever you are, rest well and I promise to fulfill your last wish. I WILL PUNISH SEONGHO!" Yunki's voice cracked while saying that.

After a moment of silence, I spoke up, "So what's the plan?"

"We stay here!"

"But you're supposed to get revenge?"

"Yes but I need time to think of a strategy!"

"What if they find us here?"

"This forest comes under Baekje! We are safe here."

Shouldn't he just seek help from the other two kingdoms? It'll be easier that way.

"Umm.....since we are already in Baekje, so why don't you seek help from the king of Baekje?"

"NO! Do you think he will help me? After fighting so many wars against me?" He gave me a death glare.

"Y-you can at least try-"

"Go and collect dry woods and dry leaves. We need to build a hut!"

"Why don't you show the princess around the palace?" The dowager queen smiled at Seongjin.

"It'll be my pleasure! Come, my princess, let me show you around!" Seongjin smiled and Ahyoon followed him with an awkward face.

Ahyoon's POV.

Prince Seongjin was showing me around the palace while humming a sweet tune as if nothing had happened.

"And that's the royal kitchen!" He said pointing towards the kitchen.

"Prince Seongjin!"

"Yes, my princess?"

"Why did you lie to me about your identity when we first met? You knew very well who I was yet you didn't reveal your identity and I ended up disrespecting you!" I said looking down at my feet, but suddenly I felt two warm fingers lifting my chin.

My eyes met his gorgeous eyes and he smiled at me, "It's not your fault, my lady. I was the one who insulted myself....hahaha. And it is natural for a wife to act like that upon hearing bad things about her husband. I'm quite impressed with you and I'm proud that I got a wife as beautiful and intelligent as you, my princess."

I couldn't help but smile at him.

"And if I had told you who I was, I would've never seen that fierce side of yours which makes you ten times more beautiful?" He teased me while smirking and I felt my face turning red.

"St-stop!" I ran away from him hiding my face with my hands.

On the other hand,

Seyeon's POV

Prince Seongjin left with princess Ahyoon and King Namjun left with his to-be queen, princess Inhyeon. I was waiting for Jeongguk to lead the way because I had no idea where to go and what to do plus according to what Jeongguk had explained to the king, we are a couple here. As Jeongguk was about to leave and I was about to follow, the dowager queen stopped us.

"Who is this peasant girl with you, you disgraceful boy?"

I was taken aback by the sudden change in her voice. In front of Ahyoon she was all sweet and now...what the fuck?! What a color-changing chameleon she is.

"She is my lover!" Jeongguk replied politely.

"Pfft!" She looked at me from top to bottom, "Suits you! Both of you look like pathetic peasants but I'm kind of disappointed because our family will have another peasant." She said looking at me with disgust. EXCUSE ME? WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN BY 'PEASANT'?

"Your highness, she is not a peasant. Please don't disrespect her. She deserves better!" Jeongguk glared at her.

"YOU DISRESPECTFUL DEVIL! Are you trying to speak against me? Firstly you brought a peasant into our well-reputed palace and now you are glaring at me? Huh! What else to expect from a son of a concubine?! You have been a disgrace since your birth....you killed your mother-"

Jeongguk ran away with clenched fists! I didn't see his face but felt like he was crying.

"Prince Jeon-" I was about to run after him BUT THIS WOMAN RIGHT HERE NEEDS TO KNOW HER PLACE FIRST!

"Aish such a disrespectful boy! I was talking, and look at him...he just ran away without paying respect."

I turned towards her and pulling out my dagger from my hanbok, I pressed it against her neck and said, "Your highness listen, I don't care who you are...what your position is. I don't even care if you put me to death after this but I ain't as polite as prince Jeongguk. One more word from your mouth and I'll cut off that nasty tongue of yours." I smiled. "I hope you learn how to respect people and treat them well." I glared at her and released her.

At fast she was shocked and wasn't able to form words but then she spoke, "Y-YOU! DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM? I AM THE DOWAGER QUEEN AND I WILL PUT YOU TO DEATH, YOU DISRESPECTFUL WOMAN!"

"For what good reason, your highness?" We both turned around and saw Inhyeon.

"Inhyeon!!!" She ran towards her and held her arm, "S-she...." She pointed at me and I rolled my eyes at her, "She tried to kill me."

"When? I came here to check just after I saw my brother running away but after coming here, all I saw was you trying to threaten lady Seyeon. I can pass this to the king and for this, you will be the one who will be put to death, your highness." She smiled at her.

"Y-YOU ALL ARE SCHEMERS!"

"Learned from you, your highness."

Ouch! That must hurt! I looked at the dowager queen who was burning in anger.

"I'LL GET BACK TO YOU, INHYEON!" She pointed a finger at Inhyeon and stormed off while giving me a death glare. As if I'm scared of your death glare, old lady. I rolled my eyes at her again.

"You're quite impressive! But beware of the dowager queen from now onwards. She'll try to get revenge on you." Inhyeon warned me.

"Thank you, your highness. I'll be careful but she was just getting on my nerves! Prince Jeongguk deserves better." I declared.

"At last a girl understands my brother. Your love for my brother is great." She smiled proudly at me.

Ok but it's not love. It's just I can't stand injustice.

I bowed to her in a response to her compliment.

"The dowager queen always disrespects me and Jeongguk. She is too arrogant about her status and royal blood and sees everyone as a peasant. She doesn't respect people who are lower in rank than her." She explained. "Anyways, you should probably go and check on my brother. He went towards to barracks." She added.

I bowed and ran towards the barracks.

Yeong's POV

"Who are you to make a deal on behalf of me, your Majesty?" I asked the king politely.

"Yeong-ah, the deal is between me and Inhyeon!" King Namjun replied.

"Yes but it concerns my future too! Why didn't you ask me before making the deal?" I was disappointed.

"I'm sorry Yeong but Inhyeon is right, I've true love for one and just a mere affection for the other. I need to find that out for the sake of all three of us."

"But what about the promises you made to me? I am just sacrificing everything after coming here. You said you loved me and brought me here and now you are saying that you are not sure."I sobbed and he put his hands on my shoulders.

"Why are you becoming so insecure? Don't you have faith in your love?" He said cupping my face. "I've decided to put my love and both of your love on the test because I also feel like one of you is with me just for power and title." He said looking into my eyes and my eyes widened, "Whoever will pass this test, will give me an heir." He smiled. "Ok, it's pretty late now. Tomorrow is the wedding. You should rest well so that you look beautiful." He smiled and left.

I was lost in my thoughts when I decided to meet princess Inhyeon.

I went to Jeon residency and she welcomed me.

"I know why you are here. Please have a seat!" She sipped tea

After settling down she started, "First of all to make things clear, I don't see you as my rival or anything. I just want the king to be happy. What I did was for both of our sake. As a king, he must have children with his queen but would you be happy with it if he had children with me but loved you the most? I certainly wouldn't be! This will only create enmity between the queen and the consorts as it happened in the case of the dowager queen and prince Jeongguk's mother. I've seen my uncle, father, and brother suffer because of it and I don't want the same to happen to king Namjun and his children." She explained.

"I understand, your highness! I'll be happy for whoever he chooses." I said coldly

"Not whoever he chooses but whoever passes the love tests. He will test our love for him and we must do the same." She smiled.
