Chapter-41
No one could have noticed those blissful stars of the sky the way she noticed them in her dreams.
--------_-----------------------------------------------------__-----------
The sensational breeze of sandy air blew past my skin when I landed my left foot in the city of beaches. The one and only Miami.
Those tall trees were silently flying with the systematic Mindy wind, it's like they were dancing all together in the same sync of music and for the first time I felt they were alive living their life to the fullest.
The weather here is hot but not too much to burn your skin, the timidness of the weather is comfy, relieving every inch of my body.
Over the week has been passed since the incident which happened back in Cross River High. When Cole makes me puddle and confused I've didn't heard about him after that day not even seen him.
There were rumours around everywhere regarding the bet which was made in utterness confusion, and which changed everything else.
Those neverending whispers started spreading everywhere all over the school about him being losing that bet. And about me winning it that's why he is not showing up his reputation is at stake and most importantly he can't face being lost by a girl, A girl which nobody knew would so close to winning. Everyone remembers that Competition which changed everything right? Yes. Everyone remembers it, but suddenly no one has their eyes light up to the winner of That competition. Everyone has turned their attention to this bet to see who is exactly going to win and how?
Veronica Stratford was the winner of that competition which has changed my life, but now she looks lost herself she doesn't show up regularly in the school anymore, and most importantly when I try to look into her eyes she always averted her gaze from me. As she is afraid of falling into a trap...
And I don't know what happened with Cole? What happened to him playing the role of a nerd because he was too determined to win and now his presence is clueless. as arriving of the light into a dead person.
But still, tonight was the night where our school will showcase its talent to win the football tournament of all the schools. Oh yes, not because just me from the outside of the team has arrived here, in fact, the whole School have arrived on the bus.
Mr Bennett had declared with his strict tone that all the senior students of the school must be here to witness the victory of the school and they also needed students in numbers to cheer up the star players. Long, in short, this tournament is something big and according to our principal, this will make our school more popular in America just the way Havard University is famous he is very keen to do anything to make things right in the eyes of people and he doesn't care about his school students.
Before the time passed by to the night I want to feel the ocean with my eyes and my body. It's neverending waves the way they hit the sailing side. Sometimes, I wonder what if I belonged to this place? What if I belonged to the ocean, to the beaches. And it's not a wonder to know that it fascinates me the freedom of sand here fascinates me; it's like everything here belongs to every part of my soul body, every one of my body craves for the air around me.
It's like a hallucination; not real every breathe I take here is not real, and it does not belong to me every time I try to manage myself I kept asking myself how can you breathe in the air? When you have suffocated yourself in the water.
It makes me clueless. Because I can't understand my inner voice, and it makes me feel stupid; stupid every time for not understanding myself the way every other person did.
However, when the sun shone at the brightest level of the sky I felt warm, and for the first time in my life letting go of all the insecurities I felt complete here.
The shimmery sunlight making the sand sparkle like a thousand jewels were sparkling at the same time they have remarked our footprints mine and Vess's. Our hairs were tangling with the perfect rhythm of the warm breeze of the air making their presence prominent.
And for just a moment; we closed our eyes while laying on the sand, and that moment embarked all those thousands of moments of life in which I felt chained.
****
Every step I took was bolted up by the sound of cheering and that was the cheer of victory.
I think
Do you still think?
No, I'm damn sure this game is more of business because everything here will be appraised based on performance and get a scholarship, coaches will get their salaries with the high amount of winning if their team will win and most precious the chances of getting in tv to get to play in the nation then in international level.
Oh, now I understand how this game is very important for the whole school and the players of our team. It is Friday night, and the entire city has shut down only the light illuminates the ground of the game has been sparkling like a star.
The fans already decided whom they are going to support.
For two days our school team was continuously ripping the rivals team whoever gets their chance to have the ability to stand ahead of us.
And today? Today is the final round to win the final chance to win. Generally, these players have a celebrity status among the schools and the city.
Soon, well the seats were contemplated by every human being on this planet the bright star-like playground started blooming in the evening when the humming of birds sound and their chirping started fading by all the cheering.
As sunset has embarked its presence over the hasty summer of daylight the players were started coming in the field; in the playground.
"So, what do you think who is going to win?" she yawned, Vess looks bor her eyes were indifferent direction searching at Dylan even more than what I expected.
"I've to say that our team is going to win this match, but who knows what will happen?"
At this comment of mine, all those who were seated ahead of our seats were started glaring at me like I'm the only one who looks like a ghost.
"Shhhh! Are you from Rivers or Sanders?" one of the guys who has painted his face in support of Rivers; means our team looked deadly into my eyes; as he was going to rip out my soul into threads of pieces. Ha! If looks could I would be a lump of dead meat, but he doesn't know that I don't care; I don't give a damn, I've reserved my damns for better than this.
So just to make my point I sting out my tongue at him.
" you g-" he got interrupted by the numerous yelling and thousands of applauses by everyone when the team started coming to the ground.
It was like a scene of a movie where everyone was shouting, adrenaline was rushing through the whole stadium; the peek of sunlight was drenching through the eyes of the shimmering shining stars of this game and when one by one both the Rivers and the Sanders engulfed in the playground with their coaches with them.
Cheerleaders, the tall beautiful girls who have some aura around them of feeling themselves superior, and maybe it was just I'm who is thinking this because I know I can never be like that and it doesn't matter me being a playgirl is can match the standards of these cheerleaders.
Soon, the anthem started playing the cheerleaders that were on the end side of the playground standing at the stage that was specially made up by only for them started doing their routine with what we say to the shimmery sparkly thing? Ah! Pom pom! I guess.
Still, I can't make who is who? They have their back in our direction.
Ok! I shouldn't have said this because what I was talking about is just a clueless assumption of mine. The hell I didn't know what was going p happen that was just the beginning before the utter shock ness of the outcome.
And can you guess? It doesn't take more than a minute for them to make their faces remarkable with their presence.
Ha! The bliss of seeing Veronica's face along with Beatrice is a perfect moment to watch.
"What the hell? Is this pack of rice doing here?" Vess's nostrils were fuming out with anger. Well, I couldn't blame her after the things she said to us and most importantly she said to her and indulgently she spoke about her family. And everybody knows that one couldn't stand calmly when these things you hear.
"I hate her! And I just want to showcase her ugliness to the entire stadium. What a heartless girl she is!" her eyebrows were shot up and her mouth was quivering. She is mad very mad in fact.
"Do not give your importance to her, and no one in this stadium is going to give a damn about her, and Vess my friend she is not the worth of your attention, she is not the worth of getting into your skin."
I said, what I was thinking and I don't care if it sounds ridiculous, or something with a high value of morals, but it is what it is.
If we start giving our damns to every human on this planet then we will not be able to live in peace.
"Amanda, it is easy to say, but it is not easy to breathe in the air when you have a volcano arising on your chest." typing on her phone she muttered, and it is not a mystery to solve that she must be talking to Dylan, who is, by the way, helping the team.
"Look Joseph is waving at you!" she screamed in surprise and made me jump into horror which spilt the cola on my pants.
"Shit! Now everyone will think that I've done a shit on pants," I glared at her.
"You will soon when you see that he is waving at you, now be a good girl and wave at him back," she grabbed by hand from the elbow and started waving it from left to right.
"I-" she didn't even let me finish, and before I could say something else she again opened her mouth," you two would be cute together and it's high time my friend remained single for years and now I want a man in your life. An absolutely serious man!"
"You know we are in school and I'm seventeen and even guys are all must be hardly eighteen in this school and you are talking about a serious man in my life? Tell me You are not on drugs Vess?"
I blinked my eyes several times just to annoy her.
"Oh shut up and look at their uniforms, aren't they all are looking sexy in these uniforms?"
I nodded my head in conformations. They all are looking wonderful in their uniform with their tall height and broad shoulders they were looking at the best team of the football.
The match was going to start at any time soon. The Rivers team is in blue and The Sanders were in the Red team. The supporters of each team have painted their faces in the colour of their favourite team. Soon, the chanting and the whispering got stopped, and it became like a pin drop silence all the eyes were on the ground. Both teams along with their captains and coaches came face to face. Somehow, I don't know why but I got goosebumps; all the cheerleaders were now have come face to face upfront at the direction of players.
A whistle blew out in the air when captains of each time shake their hands in the encouragement of sportsmanship.
Now, I can see clearly with my eyes the people who are shaking their hands.
My jaw dropped on the ground when I saw in the blue uniform the one and only Cole Maxwell was standing tall ahead of the captain of Sanders team.
He has sparked in his eyes, and he was smiling.
What a fool I am? Literally what a big fool I am? I must remember that he is something in the team, but how can I possibly let go of it in my mind? If he is something then he must be the captain.
A captain, A freaking captain. It means he was busy after that incident for the whole week. The pressure In my chest is telling me I don't know him at all.
'Three!'
'Two!'
'One!'
***
'Rivers! Rivers! Rivers!'
'And Rivers won the match with the last kick by the Cole Maxwell!'
The commenters voice was raging in my ears. This is it! We won it! Cole won it! I was not sitting anymore. I and Vess were on the stairs in the crowd trying to escape from the crowd to go on the playground to join in the victory of our school. Every student in our school was running towards the playground to join the team, to join the victory.
And to join Cole
My inner voice shrieked, yes! Finally, for the very first time to hell with everything, he was the best player of today, and I just want to hug him and congratulate him to say to him that he did it! He finally did it. I'm very happy and overwhelming from head to toe.
He was near, so near to me. When I landed my foot on the field; to the ground, I became envious to run further, to him. But he was surrounded by everyone. Soon, the announcement will be going to make
He will get busy, you have no time to think so just run!
For the very first time, I heard my inner voice and ran towards him by cutting down all the crowd.
I was wanted to breathe in the air when I know it wasn't easy to do so, but still seeing him standing there with my eyes after a whole week. I couldn't let this moment slip from my eyes. And yes, I admit that I missed him, missed him so much in that past week.
"Cole," I patted on his shoulder to get his attention.
Like the air has turned its sideways, he moved and met his eyes with mine.
"Amanda?" he whispered, with shock, and concern? But why was a concern in his eyes? Why he is concerned after seeing me?
"Cole I-"
My voice got caught in my chest it felt heavy, I can't speak, I stopped, yes I freaking stopped when I saw him looking in the other direction.
In the direction of a girl, a tall beautiful girl who was running to us.
I wish time had stopped, but it didn't.
I wish I can get back in time and decides to never come here.
But it was all waste to be sound, all fatigue.
'I knew you were going to win' I heard when that girl hugged him, it sliced my heart into pieces.
I wanted to go from here, everybody leaves me alone in the end, maybe I only deserve loneliness. I have to move from here when they were going all cosy
And if that was not enough she kissed him ahead of me.
And what was the heartbreaking moment of all the million years of my life?
He was looking at me when she was kissing him. Or they both were kissing each other.
I can't take it anymore, I have no power to do so, it is better to not interrupt them and leave this place.
