CH 40: Saïd meets Flora
"Well, look who I ran into," crowed Coincidence.
"Please," flirted Fate, "this was meant to be."

Aliah's POV
"So what are you doing here?" I asked, trying to break the awkward silence.
"Can't I visit my sister?" He responded while looking around. He was acting like this was the first time he was seeing the apartment from the inside. Or he was just avoiding eye contact.
He wasn't just 'visiting', he had his large backpack with him.
"Yeah of course but-" I tried to understand, but he interrupted me.
"-can I crash here?" Saïd asked still not making any eye contact with me or Harris.
"Of course bro." Harris responded before I could even say something back.
What's up with people interrupting and responding for me today. Perhaps I shouldn't say anything at all.
"Cool." My brother replied and made his way to the guest room, leaving me to face the questions about him alone.
Like what was he doing here at this hour? Was something wrong? I thought he was out of town for work?
We both followed him with our eyes until he had closed the door behind him.
Harris raised his eyebrows, "You have a weird brother you know." He whispered so Saïd wouldn't hear him.
"I guess it runs in the family." He added and smiled.
I rolled my eyes at his response and sighed.
Gosh how dramatic is my life.
Saïd's POV
How can I tell her that I got fired, kicked out of my place and haven't got a single cent to pay for my bills. She'll be so disappointed in me. I had my life figured out but I fucked up and it's all Natasha's fault.
Aliah is so happy, how could I possibly ruin that?
I used to live in Philadelphia for college but moved back to New York so I could pay for Aliah's hospital bills. I got kicked out of my flat a few hours ago for not paying this months rent.
I actually believed that karma was getting me back for the fight that made Natasha lose the baby.
"Morning." Harris greeted after I had left the guest room. He was standing in the kitchen besides Aliah, acting weird as usual.
"Juice?" Aliah offered.
"Sure" I responded "And stop being so weird, weirdos." I added and sat down.
"We're not be-"
"-being weird" Aliah said finishing Harris' sentence.
He gave Aliah a weird look before joining me at the table.
"Anyway, so how long are you staying?" He hesitated.
"Want me gone already?" I responded raising my eyebrows.
"No.. no what.. no.. just wondering you know."
"Chill bro, I'm going home today. Just needed to talk to my sister." I said taking a sip.
"Sure." He stood up and gathered his stuff.
He approached Aliah and said, "You can take today off if you want to."
Aliah smiled and nodded in response.
I also smiled when he faced me and he then left without showing Aliah any sort of affection. I chuckled at his actions and shook my head.
"What's so funny huh? What are you doing here actually?"
"Nothing but your weird-ass husband thinks I don't know what you two do in your private time."
"Saïd!" She said raising her voice a bit.
"What? I like him but c'mon he's acting weird." I replied.
She sighed and eventually took a seat across me.
"What are you doing here?" She repeated her question.
"Visiting you?"
I started eating the food Aliah had placed down in front of me after sitting down herself.
"I don't believe you" She said taking a bite from her sandwich.
"So you think I'm lying? Wow what a surprise. I'm always lying according to you." I rambled, quieter as the sentence ended.
"No Saïd c'mon, it's just weird."
"Just visiting my sister, don't worry everything is fine" I tried soothing her, which was working I think. Her facial expression relaxed and she started to enjoy her food again. I can't tell her, It'll ruin everything.
Aliah's POV
I unlocked my phone as I got a text from Harris.
"Is he gone?"
I sighed and started typing.
"No he's still here."
I stared at the phone when he was typing until the text popped up.
"Then I'm working late."
Omg he can't be serious.
"Bro..
I started but I quickly realized that I was calling him 'bro' again. I deleted the message and started typing again.
"Harris c'mon, you're overreacting. He knows what goes on when we're alone."
It was weird and awkward at first, but we don't need to drag this out longer than it has to. Saïd understood.
"It's just awkward. I'll text you when I'm coming home. Love you babe."
I smiled at my phone as I was reading the text over and over again. That one word made shivers go tingling up and down my spine.. I loved it when he called me babe, it then felt like I was really his. Not saying that I wanted him to call me that every single day, but it wouldn't hurt if he said it from time to time.
I texted him back and put my phone down after Saïd walked back into the room.
"Who were you texting?" Saïd asked.
It wasn't like he was checking up on me, it was more a question just to start a conversation.
"Harris." I responded.
He nodded, his lips slightly pursed.
"Of course it was." He whispered.
"But I'm going to grab some food for us, what do you want?" Saïd asked.
"Uhm doesn't matter, just grab me something."
He nodded but I felt like he still needed something from me. He wasn't staring at me directly, but he was for sure waiting for something..
Company? A thank you? Maybe money?
"Here's some money" I jumped up and took some cash out of my purse.
"No I've got money." He responded.
"Just take it." I insisted.
I hope he wasn't having money problems. It would make sense though, why else be here?
He took the money and left.
I started cleaning up a bit after Saïd left. There wasn't much cleaning to do really, I was just keeping myself busy. I grabbed a book from the shelf after I was done cleaning, and sat down to give myself some quality time.
I continued reading for another twenty minutes, until a gentle knock on the door caught my attention. No way that could be Harris or Saïd. They both knocked like elephants.
I jumped up from the couch, my heart pounding. I recently get more scared when people knocked on the door, since the incident. Who could it possibly be? I wasn't expecting anyone. Another knock sounded, I scurried across the room and threw the door open.
Flora stood there smiling back at me.
"Hey" She smiled.
"Oh hey" I responded somewhat relieved.
Flora walked over to the couch and sat down.
Please help yourself, I thought.
I immediately shook that thought away when I thought about the past.
"So how are things going?" I smiled taking a seat next to her.
"Tough", she responded, "look Aliah.. I have to tell you something."
I could see a sudden change in her facial expression and asked her if she was alright. She was extremely nervous, I could see it in her movements. Playing with the dress she was wearing while looking down, not making any eye contact.
As she leaned back, she looked at me and softly replied.
"No I'm not. I just don't know where to begin"
"Just start at the beginning" I also gently responded.
"I'm not completely sa-"
"-and I'm back. I have kebab, pasta and of course some desserts" Saïd shouted as he swung the door open.
He made us both jump as we were in the middle of a deep conversation.
"Oh hey you're the guy that told me to fuck off!" Flora then all of a sudden yelled.
"You know each other." I asked confused.
"Who's this sis?" Saïd asked as he was examining her from head to toe.
I saw that Flora was blushing while my brother was checking her out.
"Flora my brother, Saïd meet Flora." I introduced them to eachother.
"If I noticed back then that you were this hot, I would've never told you to fuck off." My brother smirked still checking her out. He raised his eyebrows and didn't take his eyes off her.
Here he goes again.
