Chapter 3

🌟

The color of blue was beginning to turn black was getting stronger in the sky as Yukino and Hisui walked to the town square silently.

Hisui looked around. People were hurrying to get home after a probably hard day, locking the door behind them and walked home. She try not to think of where we will go after getting to Lucy's father's house.

The green haired Mage saw that Yukino was smiling to herself. What really surprised Hisui was that she hugged Jay. Yukino was never the one to do something so impulsively.

Hisui finally settled on the guess that the fresh air and freedom made her more comfortable with doing things her way. Hisui was happy that she was more outgoing now. But now the hope is that she doesn't lose it. Hisui nor Lucy can't let her go through what she did ever again.

Because of Wither, Yukino was never confident in doing literally anything. On days she always just did nothing but lay down as still as the bricks on the wall.

Yukino wouldn't even eat. Wither starved the girls from time to time, but when he did, he gave them the nearly empty plates, she wouldn't touch anything. Hisui, as well as Lucy, had tried effortlessly to get her to eat something. On those rare times, she would eat, other than that, she ignored the pleas, and pushed the food away.

Whenever anyone looked at Yukino, her eyes were always glazed, but there were those rare exceptions when she was happy. When she was, her eyes shone brighter than anything Lucy and Hisui ever seen. Or remembered.

"Hey! We're here! Let's set everything down and wait for Lucy!" Yukino said, snapping the Mage from her thoughts and tugging on her arm.

"Okay." Hisui put the 3 bags she was carrying down, which each held their new outfits. One bag for each person.

Yukino was already sitting on the fountains' ledge, still holding her bag, which held the keys. Following suit in her actions, Hisui sat down next to Yukino.

"Hey, when was Lucy coming again? I forgot," Yukino chuckled lightly.

"Um, sunset I believe, or was it a little before sunset? Well, we won't know until she comes, so we wait." Hisui told her. She looked up, seeing that the sun just a bit above the mountains.

"If meeting before sunset was correct, Lucy is late. That doesn't sit well at all, but we can't move, or else it'll end up as us chasing after the other." She thought.

Hisui turned to talk to Yukino to ask how she was doing, after her little breakdown in Jay's store. "Hey Yukino, how-" She cut herself off setting her eyes on Yukino and smiled. She fell asleep. Her body was on the ledge, her head getting closer and closer to the water, and feet dangling over the bags.

Not wanting to wake her up, Hisui turned her head to watch her first sunset. The colors of the sky darkened. From blue, to red, to orange, to a bit of pink, then purple, then midnight blue. It was beautiful, really. "It's pretty, right?" Yukino said out of nowhere.

"Wait, weren't you asleep? When'd you wake up?" Hisui asked, confused.

"Just a few moments ago. I wanted to see my first sunset in years with my family." Yukino said. Hisui's eyes soften. Family. Hisui's mind goes to her bloodline family. She doesn't know who they are, or what they look like. Hisui was really forgetful when the girl was younger. All she could remember was a giant yellow room.

"Hey! Hey guys!" A voice took Hisui from her thoughts again. Seeing Yukino's face as confused as hers, they looked around. Hisui spotted blonde hair coming towards them first, and she knew it was Lucy. She was on the other side of the fountain.

"Yukino, Lucy's over here." Hisui pointed to where she was. Yukino turned her head to where her sister was pointing, and jumped up and ran to Lucy.

"Lucy! Luccy!" She cried happily. Hisui betted she's gonna start telling the small story of what happened after the three separated for a bit.

Hisui looked around, embarrassed, because they were supposed to be quiet! And invisible! This will get them caught! To her relief, no one is actually looking this way, maybe because the people of this town have seen it before? Or they just don't want to draw even more attention to us. Either way, Hisui was very grateful.

Lucy and Yukino made the walk back to their sister, and Lucy starts to tell them her side of the story. As much as Hisui wanted to hear it, she was getting tired. Lucy yawned, and rubbed the back of her head. "Okay, I'll tell the rest when we get to the hotel, come on. Follow me." They got the bags and followed Lucy to their new room.

They made it to the room, and had no idea on what to do. Yukino yawned. "I guess we sleep," Lucy commented.

"We do need our energy for tomorrow anyway, you can tell the story on the train to your father's house." Hisui said, laying on the only bed here. "Are we sleeping together? Or was this all you could get? Not that I mind. We've slept on the same bed all our life."

"Yeah, that was what I was going for. I... have some bad news..," Lucy said. "There is no route to my fathers estate. We have to catch multiple trains, but we don't have enough money." Lucy finished.

"What???" Yukino and Hisui said in unison.

"Yeah, and as much as I regret this, we have to separate as well." Lucy looked down, refusing to look at either of them.

"Okay. We'll say our goodbyes tomorrow, after we get off the train-" Hisui was cut off by Yukino.

"We have to split the spirits!" Yukino yelled. She then looked at Hisui, then realized what she did. "O-oh, sorry." She rubbed the back of her head.

"We will do that tomorrow, as it will be our last transaction." Lucy said. "But, don't worry. I have communication lacrimas that we can use, I bought for the 3 of us." She continued, as she pulled 3 blue lacrimas out of her cloak, that she had hung up earlier.

"Let's go to bed. I need to use the sleep." Yukino said, crawling under the covers in the middle of the bed, as she always did. Hisui smiled at her, and Lucy laughed silently. Hisui went to the left of her, and Lucy went to the right.

"D'aa, forgot to turn off the lights." Lucy grumbled as she got up. After turning off the lights, she got back into bed, and dozed off immediately. Yukino was already asleep, as Hisui lay wondering, "What will happen next?" As at that moment, darkness welcomed her home.

But this darkness was comforting.
