4. STORIES OF THE OLD

I am still surprised on how wild the day is becoming. Who would have thought a harmless journey would lead to this.
I'm still having trouble in soaking up the truth that the fairytale people are true, well some of them.

I was taken up to a beautiful bedroom and two gloriously tall elvish women came and helped me clean my wounds and tidy up. My favourite frill shirt was battered and I had nothing else to wear so I was given an elvish dress. It was long midnight blue robe like dress with a gold chain hanging on my waist.

Overall it was fabulous. They tied my hair in more braided way which looked good and very complex. I never knew my hair was capable of being turned into something really exquisite looking. I looked at mirror in front of me and realised there was no glass. How am I seeing my reflection? Well it's water. It's really clearer than seeing our reflection in a lake or a river honestly.

I and Emily were to have dinner with the king as was his request. And I will attend it so I could know more about this place and on how I could get home of course. I quickly went to Emily's room. She was still having her head braided and she was talking and asking questions to an elf lady enthusiastically. I joined them. The lady curtsied and walked away.

I sat down at the bed while Em was humming a Beatle song and checking her reflection in the water mirror. 'Emily...am I in a dream?' I asked Em. 'Well I don't know. If we are then I don't wanna wake up at all' she grinning.

I shook my head and said 'But this is not our world. This is not our home. Our family might be worried sick right now' I said thinking of all the possibilities. She nodded ' I know but I'm not going to mull my head over it when I'm already having an adventure of a lifetime' she said and continued ' You could ask Aran Faeranduil about it if you want to'.

'Who now?' I asked questioningly. 'Aran Faeranduil' she said 'The elf lady told me. "Aran" means "king" in the elvish tongue and his name is Faeranduil. Oh and I think you could ask ernil Daemeon about all of this because I think he has a crush on you' she said trying her best to hide a playful smile.

'Whoever that is' I said mockingly. 'Well thats the prince of course. Prince Daemeon. He saved you remember? That dreamy elf with white eyes and shimmering silver hair and the most handsome face we are ever going to look upon' she said raising her eyebrows playfully, ' Daemeon huh? Well that's an easy name to remember. Yeah so what about him?' I asked.

'He clearly is into you' she said raising her voice slightly. 'No he isn't you dummy. It hasn't even been a day, your just jumping into big conclusions' I snapped, 'True maybe I am' she said and I don't know why but that hit me hard.

'Is that all you asked the lady?' I asked her to divert my mind from this, ' Yeah I asked her why this place was called Morobolis. Clearly it's not an elvish name' she replied, 'You see this place was inhabited by both humans and elves a long time ago. But men began to fight with one another and thousands of innocent elf blood were shed for no reason. So the high wizards of the council made another realm for humans to live. They cursed whoever tells their generation about this world that they were to die a painful death. Many men who tried it had died. But no new generation knew about this place so it was hidden and safe and we are the first humans to know about this place or...so I think. Either ways the elves thought to respect the history between humans and elves and kept the name' she completed.

I thought all about this. Maybe I should start reading some fantasy books too.

A servant called both of us to have dinner. He lead us to a long hallway where there was no ceiling but small glowing things that were flying here and there. Overall they were bright enought I lite the whole hall. 'They're fairies' said Emily excitedly. That was when I started to notice carefully, those flying objects were having wings, small hands, head and legs.

We walked towards a long white table laid with rich wine and food that excluded meat. I saw Faeranduil seated at the end of the table and on his right was Daemeon and on his left was another lady elf that looked more like a warrior than just a lady like figure.

I smiled at her. She nodded at me. Faeranduil pointed at the left seat next to the lady and asked me to sit there and asked Emily to sit next to Daemeon. I went next to the lady and sat down at my appointed seat. 'I don't know if you have met each other but-' he said and pointed at Daemeon 'This is my sole heir Daemeon. He is part of the Elvish Council and Protector of the realms' and then he pointed at the lady '

This is Luthiann. My trusted advisor, leader of the Elvish soldiers and Protector of the realms' he completed. Thats a lot of titles a girl can handle I thought. But I guess I was a bit proud about it too. 'Do you have titles young nissë' he asked us.

I and Emily looked at each other uncertainly. 'I am Emily Westfire, vice captain of the photography club and five times winner of school pegeant' said Emily. They seemed pleased by the answer. And then all of them turned to me.

' I- I am Josephine Clitch. Leader of the photography club and all time class topper' I said confidently. I saw Emily mouth the word "Nerd". 'Thats interesting' said Faeranduil beaming at us. That gave me such warmth and hope to ask my question. So I took a deep breath and asked, 'Aran, I wish to know how we would be able to go back to our...realm'. I saw Daemeon look at me and so did Emily. Emily then again mouthed "Told you". I tried to cover my red cheeks with my hair.

Faeranduil looked up at the sky and asked us to tell him how we had gotten here in the first place. We recalled every detail in order and said it to him.

'They have entered through the Cave of Moon Eclipse' said Luthiann suddenly. 'Yes... I figured it out too...' he said troubled. 'What's the problem Aran' asked Em quite worried. 'The Moon Eclipse creates a portal between this realm and the human realm every Everial Moon motion period. You have entered here through that portal. But once a person goes in the portal he cannot return without the period ending' said Luthiann.

'Ok... So when can we return home?' I asked feeling my heart beating down the throat. 'After the annual eclipse' said Faeranduil. 'That is?' I asked more anxiously, 'Four weeks to be more precise' said Daemeon suddenly. I turned towards him suddenly.

He stared at my eyes without changing eye contact but I removed my eyes from his and said 'We cannot stay here for four weeks...Our family would be searching for us'. 'We cannot help you with this matter my darling but I would like to convey a good news' said Faeranduil fatherly.

I looked at him hopefully. 'There's a ball to be conducted after a few days and it seems like you two would be staying here until the annual eclipse so we would really appreciate if you would participate in it. If yes then starting tomorrow we will be giving you a few classes based on Elf studies'. Ok this was not helpful at all. But Emily was clapping her hands happily and saying yes. Faeranduil looked at her lovingly. He turned towards me and raised an eyebrow asking for my opinion. But I stood up silently and asked to be excused. 'But you haven't touched anything' said Faeranduil worried. 'I'm not hungry' I said and walked towards my room.

I sat down at my bed and held my hands over my head. I'm staying here for two whole weeks. And I already miss my family. They must be having a heart attack not having me and Em there. Emily is not worried about it either ways. I want to stay here but this is not my place, this not my home, they are not my family. Emily is not seeing the seriousness in this situation. I thought unhappily. My eyes were welling up with tears.

I heard someone enter my room and saw it was Luthiann. She walked towards me and sat down beside me. She sat up iron rode straight while I was crouching like a humped woman. It was uneasy to be like that so I sat up straight. 'Very good. First step in being an Elvish maiden. Always hold your head up high' she said. I sighed. ' I understand you completely. I can feel you too. You see this is not my realm. I was a Sylvan Wood Elf tribe and I was held hostage here. But Faeranduil showed me kindness and moulded me to who I am now. I owe him my life's she said sincerely. 'You will be able to go your realm after the annual eclipse. So why don't enjoy the remainder of the days here with us' she said kindly. 'Faerunduil wants both you to join the Elvish ball and most of all he wants you to learn our ways'.

I looked up at her and asked her 'What things are we to study?'. She smiled at me and said 'Elvish maiden manners, Dancing and combat'. 'Why do we have to learn combat?' I asked worriedly.

' Oh it's just a necessary thing all Elves learn for defence or attack' she said simply.

I looked at her face. I hadn't had time to understand her facial features properly before. She had dark eyes, a strong jaw and big lips. Her dark hair was neatly braided over her wide forehead. Wow... Are all Elves this beautiful, I asked myself.

'I would like you to give me an answer now love' she said looking at me. I blinked and said 'Yes...count me in'. She smiled at me again and walked out of the room.

I forgot how hungry I was then but I was excited for tomorrow that I fell asleep almost immediately. The fairies saw me sleeping and they flew away to their nests for a good rest too.....
