13. BLOOD THICKER THAN WATER
I know I shouldn't be saying "Its out of this world" anymore because everything I've seen so far in this place is out of this world. I was dumbstruck. Unable to think for a while.
Every elves, every legendary beings had believed The Lady Lavinia to be dead. Or so they thought. But what I may be seeing might be a hallucination.
I stood looking at the queen open mouthed. And she just stood there looking at lovingly with her dark eyes that oddly had the same shape as mine. And contemplating her face closely I figured out slowly......that she almost looked exactly as I was, except for the hair and the nose and the jawline. All the other features were as of Dameon's.
'Wh-Who are you..?' I asked timedly. 'I- uhh...why do you look so much a- as me...?' I asked getting quite creeped out.
She just stood there for a while looking at me kindly. Then she came walking towards me. I had a strong urge to move backwards but I couldn't. I didn't want to. I was drawn to her. To her beautiful dark eyes. To her mystical voice that said 'My blood...'.
She bowed to my level slightly and touched my cheeks. 'My blood....' she repeated.
I broke from my trance and backed slightly. 'I don- I think you have mistaken me for someone else my queen' I said, scared a bit. 'No Josephine.... You are from my blood' she said calmly, looking at my eyes without blinking.
'I'm a human. My parents aren't related to an elf as far as I know' I said gathering a bit of my courage.
'Who said I was an elf...?' she said smiling warmly at me with a grin. 'I'm an Elveruin half elf. And you are Averinia. My blood'.
'My name is Josephine' I said stubbornly with anger. 'And I am not your blood in any way. I have true parents. I am not your progeny'.
I had thought I had crossed a line. That she would get so angry that she would kill me in an instant. But no. She looked at me calmly with a radiant smile etched on her face.
'Averinia my love. It is true I am not your mother. Those human on Earth are your true parents yes. But that doesn't mean you couldn't be related to me in any way. You are my blood. We are related' she said with love and determination in her lovely eyes. But I just gazed at her confused.
Whatever she said didn't make sense to me in the slightest bit.
'Averinia. It was once prophesied that the blood of particular half elf of uncommon strengths shall be passed to the womb of a banished earthly woman's. That the child of the Earth woman shall possess the half elves powers and be her blood no matter what parentage she owns. And when I was born, my elf mother took me to her home. To the Elveruin Kingdom. To her palace. To her father the king. The king strongly dissaproved of a half elf as me but when I grew he took interest in my "peculiar and unique strengths". He later named me Lavinia, which somewhat means "purified". Later I met Faerunduil in a ball. He asked me for a dance. We fell in love and married with full blessings of our kingdoms.
It was when my son Daemeon was born the war of the Seven Realms had occured... I fought alongside my husband. But I had failed my life. The war was won and the Orc Empire was thrown out of power. But I was killed' she said with a hint of sadness in a beautiful voice.
I widened my eyes and looked at her. I asked 'But your not!! Your not dead! Your still her...talk- talking to me...'.
'Yes. And no. I had died my blood. But that was when the prophecy had opened its intricate pages and done the fate. When I died my blood was spilled to an enciente woman. When the child-' she said pointing at me ' was born after the complete months. I was reborn. Faeranduil and Daemeon found out and they kept it a secret. They hid me to protect me. Faerunduil knew of this prophecy and waited for the child to arrive to the kingdom. But he was also sure not to make Daemeon know about this little prophecy. And when you had arrived with your friend, he had figured it was you because of your huge resemblance to me. He cared for you and-' she said when I had shouted mid-sentence.
'He never cared for me. If you didn't know he tried to sell me and my friend to Duldruz' I shouted sadly after knowing these things.
' I do know about it my blood... he had done that only because he wanted to to save his Kingdom. He had done a great mistake as far as I consider. It was his choice. But he cared. He rejoiced after seeing you. But the Orcish Kingdom had found about you even before he did. They had come in search for you. They had tried to have you so they could kill you to destroy the prophecy. If he hadn't handed you over to them, they would destroy the kingdom. Faerunduil did not want another war so he agreed. Daemeon does not yet know about this'
I held my head in confusion. So I'm related to a powerful half elf in somewhat bond. It was a lot to take in when I suddenly thought of something and jumped her with the question.
'Am I and Daemeon siblings then?' I asked shocked.
'No. You might have my blood. But you do not relate to Elf community' she said.
And that was a great relief. I would have puked if I had known or thought I kissed my own brother.
'Ah- I- its a lot to take in. I never, not even once thought a world like this would exist. Now after knowing I was fated to be here sounds difficult' I said to her 'But I have to return back to my place after three weeks. But me and my friend are trying to hide from him because the Aran just decided to throw us to an Orc Kingdom'.
'And he will. He will do anything to protect the peace of the realms. You should know, the war had broken and destroyed many lives and empires. He does not want Merobolis to be one of them. And my son Daemeon, I'm proud of his calm demeanor and behavior. His father is calm at outmost but when it comes to decisions to be taken for his kingdom, he would act rashly. His immortal spirit is restless. He wants and seeks for answers' she said in a graceful manner.
'Are you my mother?' I asked her unsure 'If you are then who are those people who took care of me on Earth?'
'No Averinia. You are just an image of me. My blood flows through your veins but you are not my progeny whatsoever' she said smiling at me.
I actually felt calm after that. I felt at ease. Like the burden I felt thrown on me had be lifted down, partially. 'What powers do you have?' I asked remembering that we shared a power.
'Visions....' Lady Lavinia said waving her hand around the mystical skies in circles and twirling around humming a beautiful note.
'Visions...?' I asked. 'Well thats one power I don't have'. 'Oh but you do' she said and held my cheeks with both her hands and stared at me with a glassy stare.
No sooner had I asked what she intended to do, i fell down into an abyss of swirling memories. Old ones, unknown ones, ones which were mine and millions of which weren't. I was hearing disturbing noices of people talking. I tried to look at one but they just flew past at an instant. And I saw many people die. Murder, accidents and so on. I felt horrified.
I tried to throw me back to reality. But I felt stuck there between visions. I screamed in pain and frustration.
And that when I felt being pushed to where I was.
I stood there, cold sweat clinging to my forehead. And Lady Lavinia looking at me kindly. 'Visions...is one of our powers' she said warmly, patting my head. I stared at her surprised. 'One of our powers! We have more...!?' I asked dumbfounded.
She grinned at me and said a spell which I amazingly understood.
"Light forth my mind...Shine forth thy power...Strengthen thy servant with thy almighty strength and lend us peace" she said closing her eyes and chanting slowly.
I suddenly felt so calm and pleasured. I closed my eyes and threw my head back to allow the body to rest further. I regained my posture and shivered.
'Was that a prayer?' I asked amazed.
'Yes it was' she said warmly.
'So there is a God...' I whispered quite loudly.
'We do not name "the power" anything. We know and believe there to be a power existent even beyond our imagination. Powerful and mercy. So strong and beautiful' she said calmly.
We stood there enjoying the calm feeling for quite a while.
'Why don't you come back?' I asked.
'I can't. I shouldn't. I'm supposed to be dead' she said laughing.
'But the people love you. They would be overjoyed to see you' I said trying to coax her.
'No Averinia my blood. The people will fight. Conflicts shall start. Empires will fall, all because a queen once said to be dead rose again by fulfilling a prophecy. And you do know what that means for you...' she said looking at me, asking for my reply.
I understood the problem. 'Ill have to stay behind as per the people's wish...' I completed.
'Yes. But not per the people's but as the council will ask for that. You are the birth of a legendary prophecy. No one would want you to leave. You bring hope to the other prophecies yet to be fulfilled, whether true or not. You will have to stay behind'.
We stood there listening to the unknown sounds echoing through the heavenly garden.
'I should probably leave now. I came here to find answers for the Aran's behaviour. I found out more than I expected. It's still a lot to take in but amazingly I just accepted it. Thank you my queen' I said to her, who was looking at me so much love.
Lady Lavinia knelt to me and kissed my cheeks. 'Farewell my blood. And remember not to let anyone else to this big secret' she said looking at me lovingly and I felt a sudden wind and looked at the direction. But when I turned back to her...She had disappeared.
I walked out of the garden, trying to push open the heavy door which was surprisingly not heavy anymore. I walked out of the peculiar room to miss the scent of floral majesty. I was back to the elegant chambers and I saw Emily reading a book with her palm bandaged.
'How is your hand?' I said walking upto her.
She jumped and whispered 'Dont you ever do that again..! What took you so long? What did you find in there?' she asked.
I heaved and said 'I found quite a lot of things. Unimaginable things. Unexpected things....'.
'Could you not talk in tongues...thats hella creepy bitch' she said, eyeing me as if I went mad.
'Well actually that wasn't Faerunduil's chambers. That was something else' I said.
'Like...?' Em asked curious. 'I- uhh can't tell y-you' I stammered.
'Why not?' asked Emily angrily. 'I just can't alright.' I said firmly.
'Why???' she pleaded. 'Because its uhh really complicated' I replied without looking at her and walking out of the room. Silently followed by Emily.
We got out the private chamber and saw Luthiann and Airen looking out for someone. 'We're back' yawned Emily.
Airen ran to me and gave me a hug. Luthiann followed him and asked 'Well...?'
'Well Josie found something incredible but she can't tell cuz thats complicated' Emily said rolling her eyes at me.
'I can't tell because I'm not supposed to' I said angrily. Airen and Luthiann looked at me asking me with their eyes.
'Lets just say the Aran knows who I truly am. And I just found out about it today myself. There was a- uh well a person. Sh- uhh told me I was this- person who well... Wait lemme breath. The Aran wants to give us to be handed down to the Duldruz-', I saw Airen's and Luthiann's face go pale and shocked, 'Oh you did not know about that right... Well anywho I just found out that the peace of the kingdom will be destroyed because of my presence'.
Luthiann and Airen barged at me with questions. Emily whispered to me 'You fucked up'.
I stomped my feet to the ground in anger silencing them. 'I can't tell you anything further. I am not supposed to. Emily here got her hand burned, just cure her and I got to leave' I said and marched to my bedroom leaving all of them dumbfounded.
I slumped down at the bed. Unable to take any of the stories in.
Who am I...?
