➽Epilogue
"So you finally got the girl of your dreams?"
Rheynoak looked up to see Draco Vaolcris standing in the doorway of his room with his arms crossed around his chest. The tattoo scrawled on his arms were dark underneath the light of the room, the sun sinking behind the horizon.
"Beats the crappy jewelry you gave her with the sad back story behind it" the tribe leader hissed, packing the last of his belongings in the bag that sat on his bed. A laugh escaped the emperor's lips, his sharp teeth gleaming in the dimming light.
"Nothing about the gift was made up" he corrected, taking a few more steps towards the room. "It was a genuine gift I gave her because I saw the intruigment of art burning in her eyes unlike you, Rheynoak" he hissed, looking around the room.
The tribe leader growled, banging his fists against the leather skin of the bag. He turned around in fiery, his cheeks burning a bright scarlet as he glared at the Emperor. "What the hell is that suppose to mean?" he asked, crossing his arms over his chest.
Draco scoffed, rolling his eyes. "It doesn't take a genius to see that you only what the poor girl for her curves and her flexibility in your bed" he accused, shrugging his shoulders. "I know you, Rheynoak. You chase after girls like a snake chasing a mouse."
"I'm in love with Onyx. I have always been in love with her" Rheynoak shot back, "You had to declare your love for her to get your point across?" his enemy asked, raising his brows. "If you were truly in love with her, you wouldn't have to. And besides, after the torture you have put that poor girl through, it's amazing she still holds on to what she calls feelings for you."
"Well, I'm sorry your gestures didn't win her heart over but you are not exactly a saint, Draco," Rheynoak said, sneering. "The last time I saw you, I believe you had the blood of your enemies splattered on those wonderful wings you keep hidden."
"And I wish your blood was included in that slaughter, trust me," Draco said, leaning against a throne like chair in the corner of the room. "And believe me when I say I am not claiming to be a saint. I have done terrible things in the past that don't paint me well."
His light eyes trailed over to the tribe leader who leaned against his bag, his fingers curling into a fist. A smile slipped on his lips. "But you have done worst, Rheynoak." His tone turned dark and serious, his ruby ring around his eyes turning into a bloody hue.
"What in the bloody hell could you possibly be talking about?" the tribe leader demanded. "Oh don't act so noble and innocent Rheynoak. I know why the oath took a wrong turn." Draco began pacing around the room, his hands tucked behind his back. "You see, I started pondering on what could have gone wrong. We did everything according to the map. But then, I realized that everything went wrong as soon as Alesandria stabbed herself with the dagger."
The tribe leader scowled, watching as his enemy stopped in front of him. "You switched the rubies of their swords, didn't you? You took the ruby in Onyx's sword and swapped it with the ruby in Alesandria's dagger. That's why everything took a wrong turn and we all died as a result."
The tribe leader snarled as the Emperor tilted his head, smiling at him. "Alesandria stabbed herself with an impure ruby. A ruby that does not contain her blood but Onyx's blood. You made her believe that she is the lost queen of Crojesian."
Rheynoak caught his breath, his heart pounding in his chest as he flushed red at the sudden realization that he was caught. Anger surged through his veins, his hatred for the emperor growing larger.
"This is why I should have killed you a long time ago" he snarled, pushing the Emperor away. Draco let a laugh escape his lips, a satisfied sigh leaving his mouth as well. "You can try and kill me Rheynoak but the truth will come out one way or another. And when that day comes, I'll gladly laugh in your face at your utter foolishness."
He turned around to leave the tribe leader to his work, opening the door when the sound of his voice caught his attention. "You won't tell Onyx, will you? She'll be devastated."
A sigh escaped his lips, his gaze traveling back to Rheynoak. "I don't make promises I can't keep, Rhey. You should know that by now" he said, simply shrugging. "But I'll see you next month."
And with that, he slammed the door in the tribe leader's face, relishing in the chaos ahead.
