➽Chapter Twenty Five

I FREAKING LOVE THIS GIF!! SPREAD MIGHTY WINGS!!!

*Clears throat* Um.. so back to the story..^_^

The Kingdom of Serius was beginning to wake up, the sky brightening with hues of gray and sprinkles or red when Castrin Madarlon led Onyx and Alesandria up the windy stairs into the outside world.

Cobwebs aligned the walls of the walls as they were led up the stairs, the wooden door meeting their eyes as their footsteps scuffed against the walls. Ancient symbols carved out of gold decorated the aging wood, glinting as Castrin opened the door.

Gently, he held the door open for the two women, holding his breath as they brushed past him. The door slipped out of his grip and slammed shut, the sound vibrating into the early morning space.

"So where do we start walking now?" Alesandria asked in a hushed tone, her pale fingers curling around the material of her dress, the black dress dangling from her fragile shoulders. Onyx turned her attention to him, golden eyes narrowing into thinning slits as she glared.

A hum came from his lips followed by a frown. He rolled his eyes, pushing his fingers through his hair, starry eyes straying up the sky of Serius, tracing the curves of the numerous houses and the structure of the fountains. Normally, even in the lightening of the morning sky, mortals wouldn't be able to see past the few houses in front of them.

But with Castrin, his immortal senses were heightened, his eyes able to see further than he already needed. He could see the crystal waves crash on the sandy shores of the beaches and the overgrowth of grass twining into grass that circled around tree bark in the forest.

He could hear the crackling of a beach fire dying into the dry sand, the cries of a mighty exotic bird rising up into the sky as it flapped its wings and the water droplets that fell the floors of the forest.

And beyond that, way beyond that, he could see the great mountains that surrounded the kingdom, creeks and rivers winding their way up and down the stone paths carved into the protectors of the earth for them. His own eyes could make out the curve of the Erabon mountains, its carved peak glistening in the morning sun.

A beautiful monster that was carved from destruction and tamed by nature. A monster that always provided shelter for the immortal species of all kinds, its magical barrier banishing mortal human being from penetrating through its thick walls.

"Yeah, where do we start walking since you are too busy gazing up into the sky like the answer is written across the clouds." The gritty yet impatient voice of Onyx pulled him out of his daze, nudging him as his attention strayed back to the girls in front of him.

"You know I don't have to bring you along" he snarled at her, taking two steps in front of the Mind Siphon. "I could just whisk Alesandria to the Erabon Mountains and leave you to rot right here."

A snort, almost a chuckle, fell from the Mind Siphon's lips, her eyebrows raised in a challenging manner. "And then what, Castrin?" she pushed, taking a step towards him. "You're going to be Mr. Good Guy and stay up there with her while her family decomposes around the walls of your home" she continued, her voice dropping to a lower octave. "Because you damn well know, I'm not staying here for too long."

A fire stirred deep within the Dark Magic Summoner's soul, his fingers dying to sink into the delicate flesh of the woman standing in front of him. Her gold eyes twinkled at him, her gaze challenging him to retaliate.

"This isn't the time for both of you to be fighting" the soft sound of Alesandria's voice slipped through the tension between the two magic beings, her green-gray eyes dashing between the two. "We have a mission to complete."

Yet Castrin ignored her, taking a few more steps towards the Mind Siphon until there was barely an inch of space left between them. His hateful eyes ran down her body, taking in the black corset that hugged the middle of her gray dress, all the way down to the socks around her ankles.

"It amazes me the lies you will tell yourself to convince everyone you don't care" he whispered back to her, holding her gaze with no hesitation. "Because we both know you would stay here for an eternity if it meant keeping Alesandria safe."

Something shimmered in her eyes, an ember that never died as she snarled at him once again. She let her crossed arms fall from her chest, her fingers curling around something around her hips. "You're pushing it."

Holding her gaze as she spoke, the Dark Magic summoner let out a laugh, his senses sparking a warning within his body. Frowning, he darted her gaze towards her curled fingers, tracing the outline of what seemed like a sword hidden underneath her dress.

Without a second thought, he grabbed her wrist tightly, crushing her body into the nearby wall behind her with incredible speed. Her back snapped against the bricks, her sharp teeth bared for him to see.

"Castrin, don't hurt her!" Alesandria's voice screamed at him, her feet racing towards him in quick speed. Her sharpened nails sunk deep into his shoulder, cutting through his flesh. "Don't hurt her!"

Still, Castrin sneered at the Mind Siphon, whispering to her, "You don't seem to be doing anything about it."

The two beings held each other's gazes, hatred sizzling between them as Castrin's fingers dug into the flesh of her wrist, cutting through her vulnerable flesh. Alesandria watched the two with impatient eyes, the heel of her shoe digging into the earth.

Finally, she grabbed Castrin and pulled his body off of Onyx, her fingers sinking deep into his skin as she turned him around to face her, her nails retracting from his shoulders. She let her hands roam his biceps, keeping his gaze locked on hers.

"Listen, I don't have time for this right now" she uttered to both of them, darting her eyes from Castrin to Onyx."We need to get to the Erabon Mountains as fast as we can before anyone notices. So please, both of you drop it and help me."

Sighing, the Dark Magic Summoner took a deep breath, letting himself relax before nodding. Keeping his gaze locked on hers, he nodded, lapping his tongue over his dried lips.

"Okay. Okay, both of you follow me" he instructed, stepping away from Alesandria and keeping his gaze away from Onyx. He turned himself around, facing the stairs that led him into the open. Taking a step, he led the two women up the stairs, the structure rising higher and higher until the roof of the bar a few feet away from his home showed.

The sunlight hit his skin, highlighting the red veins that outlined his skin. His eyes swept over the glass that peeked into the bar, seeing that it was almost completely isolated except for the few people that lingered around, minding their own business.

Alesandria appeared behind him followed by Onyx who kept her distance, folding her arms over her chest. Her golden eyes swept over the horizon of the mountains, a frown pulling down on her lips.

"So how do we get up there?" she asked in a harsh tone, letting her gaze sweep over the delicate bumpy curves of the mountain. "Walking would not kill us but it would definitely kill her since her powers aren't to their maximum."

Castrincasted his gaze over to Onyx, raising his brows at her. "Who said anything about walking?"

Stepping back, he crossed his arms over the shoulders of both women, pulling their bodies close to his until there was no space between all three of them. Alesandria's breath hitched in her throat, her fingers curling around his wrist as she braced herself.

"Can you please take your hands off of me?" The Dark Magic Summoner looked over to the fuming Mind Siphon, seeing how she squirmed underneath his grip.

"Does my touch bother you?" he asked. Another scoff. "No shit" she answered back, not meeting his gaze as she retaliated back, a growl rumbling deep within her throat.

"Perfect." Smiling, he closed his eyes, concentrating all his powers into a weapon that would sprout from his body and lift them into the sky. He let all his worries, all his powers, all the darkness stirring within him whittle down to one point.

Slowly but surely, a feeling sprouted deep within his back, dark clouds of magic, stars, and dust surrounding his shoulder blades down to his hips. The wind brushed past him, combining with his concentrating powers. Surely, dark wings of the night pushed out of his skin, feathers of midnight combining into mighty wings.

The mighty wings grew enormously, surrounding both him and the two women that were plastered against him. The grew to what seemed like the sky, feathers whispering against each other as they wrapped and crafted into a pair of wings that could whisk anyone to the beyonds of the world.

The tips of his long wings seemed to look like they were dipped in snow, stars shimmering off the feathers. Alesandria watched with horror while Onyx wondered with curiosity, knowing damn well Dark Magic summoners weren't supposed to have wings.

Yet she kept her mouth shut, clinging on to him as his grip tightened around both of them. "Hang on" he whispered, holding onto them tightly as he looked up and let his wings carry them into the endless sky.

The wind whipped past them, whispers of the cries of birds ringing in her ear as she braced on him. She could feel her feet growing lighter, hear the ocean roar in her ears. She could feel her blood pump vigorously through her veins.

A piercing pain met her bones, cutting against her as they pushed past the barrier, the roar of the ocean almost as loud as the echoes of her blood pulsing throughout her entire body.

Then, nothing at all. Her stomach didn't drop or lurch as the sensation of spinning endlessly buried itself within her bones, bracing her body for an impact that never came.

The rough landing didn't scratch her skin nor did it scare her. All she remembered was setting her foot on the ground and feeling the feathers of those powerful wings lift off her shoulders.

She let herself stand there, taking a deep breath in and letting the icy breath slowly ease out of her lips. She did this again three more times, feeling the chilly morning.

Then her eyelids flew open and piercing golden eyes took in the scenery. They were perched on top of the highest yet flattest surface of the mountain, overgrowth of emerald trees rising high to shield them away from the kingdom.

Onyx took a deep breath again, letting her feet walk only a few feet forward until the full scenery of a rushing waterfall stood in front of her, crashing down on the dark rocks below. Evergreen trees and wildflowers littered the ground below, overgrown dark grass covering the pebbles and sand on the earth.

The other side of the mountain faced her, a creek slithering its away down a stone path, the icy hue color of the rocks almost as fresh as a white snow fall on a winter day.

The Erabon Mountains were beautiful, jagged peaked surfaces smiling and twinkling at her with sharpened points that glinted when the sun's rays rained down on it and overgrown forest shielding them from the sky.

She could almost feel the magical barrier surrounding them, invisible yet visible.

"Okay love, be safe and please listen to Onyx. She knows what's best" Castrin's voice interrupted her thoughts, her body turning around to see the Dark Magic Summoner caress Alesandria's cheeks, his other hand circling around her waist.

A smile lit her lips, her one hand curled around his wrist while the other caressed his muscular arms. "I promise I will. You can trust me" she whispered back, smiling right back at him.

Onyx stared at him, almost forgetting the wings that protruded from his back, brushing past the floors to a curved point. The Mind Siphon watched him, with caution and ease as he nodded.

"Okay. Good Luck." And with that, he planted a kiss on her forehead and stepped away, letting his hand fall from her waist. Alesandria smiled, letting the bags on her shoulders fall and hit the floor.

Looking away, she wasn't watching as he turned around to face Onyx, her still figure waiting. The Siphon took his full frame in, feeling the tug in the back of her mind as she uncrossed her arms from her chest.

Her golden eyes still traced the lines of his wings, astonished, intrigued by them. He didn't utter a single word to her, his blue-violet eyes twinkling with stars as he held her gaze.

"You're a Dark Magic Summoner" the Siphon finally breathed, taking a few steps towards him. "You're not supposed to have wings" she said, taking another step towards him, only an inch, a gap left between them. "You're not supposed to have them."

Her eyes traced the enormous wings once more, how the very edge of them were fringed with snow-white wings, sparkling with what seemed like stars embroidering the edges of them. The rest of the wings were pitch black, full and spread out to the point where they dangled off the flat edge they stood on.

Bowing his head down, he grabbed her wrist, pulling her closer to him until her chest met his. A snarl growled within her throat, her golden eyes flickering between his as he held her gaze.

His hateful eyes scanned her face, noticing how her fingers shook and her heart pounded against her ribcage, almost bursting free.

"There are a lot of things you don't know about me" he uttered to her, his grip loosening around her wrist. "But the one thing I want you to know is that I want you to keep Alesandria safe."

The bridge of his nose grazed hers, his breath hitting her cheeks. "Please, keep her safe."

Keeping his gaze locked on hers, Onyx nodded, ignoring the tugging in her mind as she licked her lips and uttered, "I'll keep her safe."

Nodding, Castrin nodded and stepped back from her, letting her hand fall from his grip and dangle to his side. His gaze swept over to Alesandria who busied herself unpacking, her attention strayed from them.

Stepping back, Castrin nodded once more. "I am trusting you" he uttered to the Mind Siphon once more, his gaze straying from Alesandria. "Keep her safe."

Without waiting for an answer, he took a breath and let his wings spread free to the sky, singing against the wind as he pushed himself off and lifted himself into the sky, a mighty warrior disappearing in the sun's rays.

A/N: And that is the end of another chapter and the beginning of new mysteries.

TADA, I UPDATED! AND WITHIN A WEEK! SO PROUD OF MYSELF!

So Alesandria and Onyx are going to begin the physical training on the Erabon Mountains and with that comes a lot of mystery, a lot of secrets, and whole lot of danger lurking by. You know, the usual.

Castrin really showed a lot more of his character around this chapter and I am super proud of him for that, considering he's a brooding stubborn, son of a bitch who would rather stand alone in a corner, drinking wine.

Not that there is a problem with that.

But again the descriptions in this chapter I used were perhaps my best one, in my opinion, especially the description of the Erabon Mountains. Don't they sound so dangerously beautiful? *sigh*

Okay, let's play a game. I'm feeling adventurous! I want you guys! YES, YOU! I want you guys to ask me anything about the characters in the story so far that you are curious about. Anything at all and I will answer to the best of my abilities. The questions don't have to pertain to the story. They can be questions like 'If Venix was living in the real world, would she have a youtube channel?' or 'What would Lucien's favorite kind of music be if he lived in the modern world?'

Anything really! Just ask and ye shall receive thy answer!

Oh, I feel like such loyalty using such old, fancy language. *hair flip*

Thank you guys for all your constant support. It means so much to me that you enjoy this book. I enjoy writing it and to hear your feedback always makes my day!

So tell me what your thoughts are on this chapter and don't forget to comment down below and vote if you liked it.

Until next time Lovelies!

With love, May
