➽Chapter Thirty Five

This is Yongui ^_^ She will appear a lot more in book two

The afternoon sun was already beginning its way to sinking behind the horizon. The rays of the sun still shined brightly, turning the red streets of the village into a dusty brown and tanning the skin complexion of children.

Women and men approached others who were strolling through the town square, offering them delicacies and protection against the dangerous immortals that roamed Asxairo. There were a few fortune tellers that approached the midnight haired woman strolling down the streets, smiling as they saw her.

But one look at her indigo eyes flecked with silver diamonds in her eyes and they knew she was different. They nodded their head, making way for her and scurrying over to the next poor merchant to cover more gossip.

"Those idiots owe me big time" Yongui Mesacrai muttered underneath her breath as she strolled her way through the town square, blending in as best as she could. With her dark hair that tumbled over her pale complexion and her sweet voice, from afar she knew she looked like any other village girl passing by.

The silver dress she wore, torn at the knees, and slightly shredded at the sleeves, almost passed her as a village girl. Yet when otherS got a glimpse of her indigo eyes, they all shuddered and fled in fear, fearing for what she truly was.

Frowning and crossing her arms over her chest, she marched her way across the town square, grateful for the fresh air that brushed past her face. From a distance, she could hear the ocean roar, loud and clear.

Pretending to be Draco's servant had its benefits and downfalls but pretending to be his servant to get past the utterly spoiled and rich people that lived close to the estate was anything but pleasant.

Sure, he was a great master and his face was utterly gorgeous to look at, but the thought of someone having power over her, dragging her around to do little things dug into her skin and irritated her to the point where she became enraged.

Getting out of that stuffy estate was the best decision he has made in the year they have been staying at Serius. Her eyebrows furrowed for a minute, wondering what her home in the Night Dweller's realm looked like now without their emperor.

Hopefully, the stars were still in the sky.

Pushing her way through the crowd, her eyes were kept low onto the ground, concentrated on getting to a quiet alley. All around her noise, the quiet rhythm of music and chatter whispered in her ear, surrounding her like a wisp of wind as she maneuvered her way through.

Flashes of color, the smell of food, and the chatter of Sacri was all around her and followed her through even as she distanced herself from the overcrowded town square and walked down a long, dark narrow path that led into a dark alley.

Water dripped from the crooked ceilings and food was rotting on the floor. Above, the clouds were murky and dark, contrasting against the royal blue hues of the late afternoon sun. Yongui hugged the dress closer to her, her intriguing eyes looking out for anyone as she surveyed the alley.

Quiet. It was quiet, not even the hush of life disturbing the silence.

Closing her eyes, she concentrated every single ounce of focus in her mind, using the silence around her as her own weapon. Slowly, the first curve, sketch of feathers materialized in her mind, becoming real as it fluttered past her cheeks.

Everything seemed to come like a hurricane, midnight blue feathers intertwining together as they gathered in clouds of swirling destruction. They formed into wings, pushing out of her back and crying out with relief as it stretched and fluttered to the heavens above.

Horns grew at the top of her wings, bedazzled with the finest stardust and settled like two high mighty crowns. She continued to grow, transform as talons of blood and steel pushed through her nails and her eyes burned with the undeniable flame of power and blood and immortality when they fluttered open.

Her true form, with wings made of the darkest shadows and eyes shining like amethyst stones, stood in the dark alley, midnight black hair becoming sleeker and darker as it rustled past her face from the gust of the wind that whispered past her.

Her body shook, indestructible and cunning.

Looking up into the sky, Yongui stretched her arms out into the heavens above and pushed herself off her feet, the wind lifting her into the darkening sky above her. Everything seemed to flicker past her gaze as she soared through the sky in a blaze of light and dust.

She danced through the dark clouds and ominous sky, her eyes inspecting only the first sprinkle of true stars dancing around in the sky. The wind licked at her skin, goosebumps rising on her skin as her wings pushed her higher and higher into the sky.

The feeling of freedom slipped past her body and through her fingertips - so strong she could taste it on her lips and feel it as it whispered past on her skin and neck. It shackled onto her body like an unbreakable hold, allowing her to fly recklessly free.

Everything became faster as she focused her mind on her one location, clouds, and dust and the sky flickering past her gaze as darkness and shadows danced around in her mind. Everything seemed to be spinning, shattering as she seemed to spin into oblivion.

And when Yongui closed her eyes and allowed her wings and wind to take her, she became nothing but mist and shadows and stardust as she winnowed into the clouds, disappearing.

Castrin's door had opened for her willingly and she had trotted down the stairs loud enough for both of those bombarding idiots to hear her presence.

Her wings had tucked themselves away but her talons were still present, clicking against each other as she found her way around Castrin's dwelling.

She walked down the hall with pristine annoyance, a scowl on her lips as she neared a room cluttered with books and dust, the faint smell of raw magic penetrating the ear. Her body shook at the immediate touch, sense of the power and for one moment, she became something more.

Something that went far beyond those indigo horizons that were her eyes.

But that rich, creamy voice spoke to her and her thoughts shattered. "Yongui, not a minute too late." The sound of Draco's voice pulled her out of her thoughts she walked into the room, taking in the full scene. Books, just books and nothing more cluttered most of the space in the room, her eyes surprised to see even Castrin had managed to set up a desk near the corner.

"Another minute and you will both be dead" she sneered at the both of them, shaking her head at Castrin and Draco. The master smiled, simply shrugging his shoulders while the Dark Magic Summoner smiled at her. "You are a true ray of sunshine, Yongui" he commented, causing her frown to deepen.

A growl escaped her lips through her locked teeth burning bright. "And you are a true idiot, Castrin. The most idiotic of them all." The Dark Magic Summoner simply rolled his eyes, directing his gaze over to his friend.

"I don't know why I bother with you two," Draco said, shaking his head. "I would be better off with two hissing snakes following my lead." The Night Dweller crossed her arms over her chest, her eyebrows arched at the man that stood in front of her. "Save your insults for the backyard Draco. One of you tell me what happened or I will be forced to murder both of you."

Indigo eyes flickered between the two magical beings. "And trust me, you are both very fragile to kill."

Looking into those glaring eyes of hers that never seemed to die of fire, Castrin took a breath and explained what had happened since Onyx had sauntered into Serius. He explained the attack, Alesandria's out of control magic, the letter Yagein had sent him. The words seemed to fall out of his mouth without a second thought, his friend jumping in to explain the exclusive details of the events.

When they were done, the Night Dweller switched her gaze between the two magical beings in front of her, the scowl on her face replaced with a very unimpressed smile. A hum seemed to crawl out of her lips, a sigh following. "Did I say you two were idiots? I meant you are both absolutely pathetic! And to think I am associated with you two in any way!"

The Dark Magic Summoner growled at her, his eyes turning narrow. He turned over to the Emperor who sat back, his hands raised in the air in protest. "What were you saying about replacing her with a snake? There would be no difference right?"

"You son of a-"

"Don't you dare finish that sentence" Draco jumped in, cutting off her words. He raised an eyebrow at her, a scowl on his lips. "Like I said, I don't know why I bother initiating both of you to join my court but let's push that aside for now." He turned his head over to her direction, her serious face and cunning eyes meeting him. A sense of power radiated off of her, a scent that always lingered in her presence. "Yongui, you are a powerful hybrid. We need you to keep a hold of Yagein and help us figure out what is wrong with Alesandria. The sooner we figure everything out,the sooner we can go back home."

Home. That's all she needed. Home.

Sighing, Yongui brushed her talons through the midnight black hair, relaxing her body against the wall of books she leaned against. "Show me where you are keeping Alesandria's family. I may be able to cast a protection spell on them" she spoke to Castrin, capturing his attention. "If you are really keeping Yagein hostage here, they need to be protected."

Castrin directed his gaze over to the tunnel of books, that led to the other rooms he had. Nodding, he waved his hand over as he showed both of them through the tunnels. It was longer, sturdier than both of them had expected as they ducked their heads to keep from bumping against the ceiling of it.

When they reached the end of the tunnel, it opened into a small room completed with a bed and a set of drawers. Lights dangled from the ceiling, low and glowing but still alive. The sweet scent of vanilla wafted around the room, filling her nose. On the bed with a young child cradled in her arms laid Eros and his mother, her still red arms holding him tightly.

The young boy slept in her comfortable embrace, his curls dancing across his forehead. His mother, on the other hand, was severely burned and injured. Her beauty was marred by the burn marks and dried blood that encases her blistered red body, still healing slowly from the attack.

"Stars and gods, poor woman" Yongui whispered as she neared herself close to the bed. Her hand reached out and caressed the wrinkled skin of Alesandria's mom, careful not to wake her up. A faint pulse met her. "She might as well be dead."

"Yongui, you are not helping! Alesandria is depending on me to keep them safe and I can't do that unless you are here" Castrin pleaded, his eyes looking over at the Night Dweller. "Please, help."

She sighed once again, the faintest hint of a smile tugging at her lips. "Oh calm down, lovestruck " she hissed back at him in a rather playful tone, shaking her head. "You are lucky I don't completely hate you."

Closing her eyes, the hybrid casted a spell from within her soul, magic strings of midnight blue and stars dancing around her fingertips as she did so. The two men standing beside her watched in amazement as the skin on Alesandria's mother healed, turning back into a beautiful gold tan. Her hair was brown once again, a rich chocolate color that matched Eros's hair. Her beauty was restored to her face, sharp lines of cheekbones shaped into perfection and her lips rose red once again.

Then another spell worked in, like a protective layer of skin and it settled down on the both of them, creating an invisible barrier that was unbreakable. Even for the gods themselves.

When all was done, Yongui opened her eyes once again, a smirk on her skin. "Done and done. They will not be harmed from now on" she said, switching her gaze to the stunned face of Castrin and the highly impressed expression on Draco's face.

"Oh pick your jaws up from the floor and wipe the saliva off your mouths. It's not anything I haven't done before" she hissed at the both of them, elbowing them in the ribs. The Dark Magic Summoner cursed at her and held on to his ribs, shaking his head.

The Emperor on the other hand simply shook his head, not nearly as affected by her blow. "A snake can't do that, can it Castrin?"

Another curse fell from his lips.

"Now, I need to see Yagein. Show me to her and explain to me this Onyx girl on the way" Yongui directed, crossing her hands over her chest. "I want to get this done and over with."

Choosing no to crawl through the tunnel of books again, the three winnowed their way out of the room and down the steps that led to the dungeon. While walking down, Draco explained the relevance of Onyx, the Mind Siphon that was training Alesandria on the peaks of the Erabon Mountains.

And the girl he still pondered on.

"She knows how to handle Siphon magic and she is willing to help," Castrin said as they neared the cells where they kept Yagein and her entourage. A snort fell from the hybrid's lips, her sleek hair swinging against her hips. "And I know how to handle a dragon. Doesn't mean I will fly into its home and befriend it" she said to him, shaking her head. "She is a complete stranger that showed up out of nowhere. No matter what her intentions are, she can't be trusted."

"Much like this one here." Draco's words captured the bickering magical beings, their eyes sliding over to the faint figure of Yagein who sulked in her cell, a ruby jewel in her pale hand. Her complexion was pale, too pale and her sunken gray eyes looked up when she saw the three of them.

"Burn in hell. All of you" she spat at them, blood dripping off her lips. A violent cough shook her, a wheezing sigh escaping her lips. Silver claws clutched her chest as she wheezed, growing weak from the lack of sun.

"Nice to see you too, Yagein" the Night Dweller commented, smiling back at her. The SilverClaw's eyes ignored the Night Dweller, gray eyes drifting over to Castrin, her lips snarling. "If you had just agreed to my proposal, I wouldn't be stuck here right now, you useless lovestruck bitch."

"Then I guess you will be rotting in that cell for a long time" he snarled back at her, causing the witch to hiss at him even more, fire and blood burning deep within those winter eyes of hers. Yongui waved her hand, dismissing the threats.

She turned around to see two more witches laying in separate cells, both looking fatigued and weak. Their vibrant hair was spread out on the floor, their still bodies seemingly dead.

"Lack of sunlight and starving them really did a number on them" Draco inspected, shaking his head. "Their screams and curses are more peaceful than agony now."

"And no one has tried to reach out to them?" Yongui asked in disbelief, raising her brows at the three witches who slowly rotted away in their cells. "SilerClaws have a magnetic bond between all of them. Surely, they would have felt the danger."

It was silent for a second, neither of them breathing or talking. The only sounds were the agonizing coughing and suffering of Yagein as she clutched the stone in her hand, holding it close to her chest.

Her hair fell back, revealing two microscopics dots around her neck. Yongui narrowed her eyes, tilting her head to get a better view. They were small and dark blue, almost as if she was bruising from it.

But it was familiar. "Figured it out already?" Castrin asked. The Night Dweller snarled at him, shaking her head in disbelief. "I can't believe you, two idiots." She turned around to face Draco who waited patiently for her outburst, cool eyes taking in her reaction.

"Injecting them with a small dosage of white ash poison was the only way to weaken them" He explained, walking over to her cell. He rested his hand on it, fingers curling around the bars. "Sure the holding spell would keep them in place but the poison would weaken not only their bodies but their bond and magic."

She scoffed again. "Okay, esteemed Emperor. But you have to consider the fact a SilverClaw's magic sends out a distress call when they are in danger. Witches from across the sea can even sense it."

"Which is why I asked Castrin to cast a spell over his dwelling that would rebound the distress call and ricochet it back to them, weakening them more with their own magic" Draco completed her statement, shrugging his shoulders. "There is a reason why they call me the Emperor."

Another cough came from Yagein, her words raspy and low as she uttered, "You can't shield that girl, Alesandria away forever. Her secret will spread and life will be in even more danger. And I will make sure of that."

A pause rested in between her words, another coughing fit squeezing in. More blood splattered on her hand as she did so. "Seems like she's dying by the minute," the Emperor said, shaking his head. "I give her another day or two."

"A few hours for me" Yongui replied back, crossing her hands over her chest. "And you will not be telling anyone anything. Not unless you want to buried underneath bones along with the rest of your pathetic witches."

Yagein laughed, almost mockingly as she shook her head. "Fools, all of you. The SilverClaws never submit at the hands of such idiotic, weak hybrids. Especially ones that think they can take me down." She laughed once again, shaking her head. "You are afraid of that I will tell someone, that I will spread the news and the truth will finally come out because let's face it, their lies - your lies- are all just smoke and mirrors. And the truth is a swirling storm of destruction and chaos."

Castrin held his gaze with the SilverClaw queen, his blood simmering underneath his skin. The words that wanted to come out were unspeakable, even the gods themselves would banish him to tell. But he spat them out anyway.

"You useless, stupid bitch. I will make sure your niece ends your reign and kills you with her bare hands. One way or another and I will be right next to her" he snarled at her, his hands banging against the bars. "Count on that."

She only snarled back, relaxing her weak body against the stone walls. She turned her gaze away from all of them, the bruises on her neck still visible.

"Knock the bitch out. All of them" Draco instructed, shaking his head. "I don't need to hear their cries of agony to sleep at night."

Yongui nodded immediately, not arguing with him as she closed her eyes and casted another spell. She raised her hands in their, talons clicking against each other as a powerful wave swept over the dungeon. It was raw magic, strong and unforgiving. It roared and screamed and simmered as it nestled its ways into the room and settled down.

The strong wave nearly put Draco himself to sleep but he managed to hold his powers in until the spell had completely settled down. The room was quiet, the body of Yagein and her two witches still as death and barely breathing.

"It is not permanent but it will hold them for a few days" Yongui said, brushing her fingers through her hair. "In the meantime, find this Onyx girl along with Alesandria and bring them back. I might have a clue as to what's going on" she stated, glaring at both of them.

"And don't screw up this time" she added before she stormed up the stairs off the dungeon and into the other room, the click of her heels whispering past the floors. When she was far enough, Castrin leaned into to Draco and whispered, "Are you still considering the snakes?"

A smile pulled at his lips. "They both hiss and are very poisonous. There wouldn't be a difference."

A/N: And that is the end of another chapter!

Yongui is my favorite character, to say the least. She is very spunky and sassy and definitely stands up for herself. And she scares Draco a bit which is very funny, to say the least. But don't worry, she doesn't hate Castrin and Draco.

She just thinks they are both a bunch of idiots. The usual.

But she is very mysterious and she will appear more in book two. But she is my favorite and her interaction between her two best friends is very, very funny.

Sorry for keeping so long. I was reading ACOWAR and my heart is ruined. Over and over again. And finals is coming up which means a lot of studying. ...Yayyy *groans*
