➽Chapter Forty Eight
With life came changes. And changes were always unexpected.
They came crashing into lives like storms and loved to leave everything in ruins and splinters before departing. No matter if the change is good or bad, chaos always seemed to follow it.
After recovering from her shock and waiting for the others to wake up, Alesandria had to take a seat while they kindly explained to her that it was indeed true. Not only was she half Mind Siphon and half Dawn Dweller, She was a lost hybrid queen and her true parents were dead.
Of course, she always knew that Parcia was never her true mother. That she was just a kind soul that took on the responsibilities of raising her and her brother. But to hear those words once again, to hear that her mother was dead was another stab in the heart.
She also learned that Onyx, Venix, and Lucien were Demi hybrids. Whatever went wrong during the oath affected all of them in some way, some in more ways than others. It was clear to anyone with eyes that the three magical beings looked different.
Onyx already natural beauty was heightened, her gold eyes now burning on the edge of amber and gold and the emerald ring was more prominent. And her abilities and tactics were sharper, cleaner. She didn't need to think before striking. She just did it without any call.
Venix looked sharper, her dangerous beauty heightened as well. Her violet eyes were now a mixture of burgundy blood and violet skies. Her iron nails were sharper and her veins glowed a strange color. Even her alabaster her was shinier. And her killer instincts were now her number one weapon. Her sharp canines were venomous, more hidden and murderous ways now bordered on the edge of psychotic.
And Lucien just looked more warrior like. Those sharp cheekbones of his were now covered in light swirls and designs that only showed when he channeled his newfound powers. His strength had increased and so had his looks, his hair slightly longer and his icy blue eyes now sprinkled with hues of gray.
Yongui had recovered, knowing that her hybrid powers were not pure enough for the oath and that her powers combined with Castrin's formed some sort of disturbance that resulted in him stabbing her in the heart.
No hard feelings, the power of the moon's rays were quite unpredictable and persuading.
As for Draco and Rheynoak, they were bought back without a scratch on their bodies and the burning hatred of each other still in their hearts.
The decision on what was best for Alesandria was a hot topic. Everyone had different opinions including her mother and Eros and everyone was pulling her in a hundred different directions.
After a long and serious discussion that lasted several days, they all came to an agreement that it would be best if Alesandria went to the desert with Rheynoak, Onyx, Lucien, and Venix while her mother and brother followed Castrin to a safe place where they wouldn't have to worry.
After that decision, Alesandria and the rest began packing to go home. Draco didn't take much with him, claiming he didn't bring much with him, to begin with.
It was mid noon on a lovely Saturday and the mansion was silent as everyone finished the last of their packing. Alesandria was spending time with her family before they parted ways and Yongui and Castrin were making some arrangements with Draco.
"How much damage do you think Iresil has done to the tribal grounds?" Onyx asked her friend, packing the green dress in her black bag. Venix laughed, shaking her long fingers as she zipped the last of her clothes into her own bag. "Enough to make Rheynoak want to tear her apart" she uttered back, shaking her head. "In more ways than one."
"You're despicable," the Mind Siphon said, throwing a decorative pillow at her friend who caught it in midair. "I never claimed to be proper, my dear, cruel friend" she replied back, tossing the pillow down on the neatly made bed.
Sitting down on the bed, the Siphon ran her fingers through her hair, silky strands falling across her face. "So, how are things going with you and Lucien?" she asked, crossing her legs over one another. Her friend scoffed at the question, rolling her eyes.
"I am beginning to think you have an obsession with him as well" she replied back, her voice falling to a lower octave. A laugh left her lips. "Don't worry, Venix. I won't steal him away from you" the Siphon replied back, smiling. "But he's chivalrously handsome and it's so obvious he cares for you and by the looks of it, you care for him too."
"Chivalrously handsome?" the BloodBone questioned, shaking her head. "I wonder how much wine you have been drinking," she said, just as a door sounded on the door. "None whatsoever" her friend replied back, pushing herself off the bed and walking over to the door.
Needless to say, Onyx was surprised to see Lucien standing in front of her, his white hair down to his shoulders and his hands shoved in his pockets. Alluring blue eyes looked up to meet her gaze, a warm smile on his lips. "Seems like you have a visitor, Venix" the Siphon purred as she opened the door wide open for him
The BloodBone looked up to see the Hell Siphon and a smile etched on her lips. "To what special occasion do I owe your visit to?" she asked him, turning her head to get a better view of him. The Hell Siphon laughed nervously, taking a few steps into the room.
"I just wanted to check on you, see if you were okay," he asked, biting his lip when he spoke to her. "You seemed a bit uneasy when you woke up." Venix smiled, crossing her arms over her chest. "I'm okay. Thanks for asking" she said.
Onyx shook her head, watching the two magical beings talk amongst themselves. "Don't mind me. I'll be here silently judging" she said, falling down on the silky sheets of her bed once again. Her friend rolled her eyes, directing her attention back to the Hell Siphon standing in front of her.
"Lucien, listen" she uttered, toying with her fingers as she spoke. "Let's slow down a bit. You're a great person and your concern and loyalty towards me are more than I could ever ask for but things have changed now. We're both dealing with some huge changes and getting involved wouldn't be the best idea as of right now."
A tiny glimmer of disappointment shined in his eyes, his shoulders slumping a bit but he still shook his head, that beautiful smile still on his lips. "Of course, I agree" he replied back, his cheeks flushing red. "But, I'll always care for you."
The BloodBone smiled. "And I you."
Lucien reached out and pulled Venix into a hug to which she happily accepted, smiling as she wrapped her arms around his neck. He held on to her waist a little tighter but soon let go, letting the witch direct him to the door.
When they said their final goodbyes and he disappeared down the hallway, Venix collapsed against the door, catching her breath. "You two are pathetic," Onyx said, watching as her friend gathered herself. A laugh escaped her lips, her eyebrows raising. "I had to, okay. He's a great guy and everything but now is not the time."
"When is it ever the time, Venix?" the Siphon replied back, sitting up on the bed. The witch shrugged, blowing out a sigh. I'm taking a bath before we leave" she said, not glancing back as she headed towards the bathroom, closing the door behind her.
Onyx sighed, pulling herself off the bed and walking over to the door. With nothing to do but ponder on what was to come, she opened the door and began exploring the hallways once again. Her eyes scoured the golden walls and numerous flower vases, never getting tired of them.
Even the priceless paintings intrigued her, each brush stroke more beautiful than the next. As she explored the hallway and the art that was hung on the wall, she barely noticed Draco next to her until he spoke."You never seem to get tired of the art," he said, startling her. The Siphon nearly jumped, casting a frown over to the emperor who chuckled under his breath. "Next time, please notify me when you appear out of nowhere," she said, relaxing her hand on her chest.
"Noted", he said, stopping near the curve of a wall. "But like I was saying, you seem to have an eye for art" he whispered, inspecting the paintings himself. "They are quite beautiful, hundred of years old too. Almost as old as me."
Onyx raised her brows, her eyes taking in his handsome features. His lips pulled into a smirk when her gaze lingered to the tattoos around his neck and collarbone down to the ones that were encrypted on his arms. "You seem to have an eye for art as well," she said in a breathless tone, raising her eyes up to meet his eyes.
The Emperor laughed, reaching into his pocket. "Here, I got this for you. A little piece of art from me to you." He pulled out a gold locket with a small ruby in the middle. It was a rather simple accessory but breathtaking with the golden swirls that surrounded the red jewel.
"It's beautiful," she said as he walked around her and put the locket around her neck. "It was made by a famous artist hundreds of years ago. In his mind, the ruby stood for strength, beauty, mystery while gold stood for loyalty and power." He secured the necklace around her neck.
Sighing, the Siphon turned around, resting her hand on the stone. "And you gave it to me because?" Another laugh escaped Draco's lips, a strand of dark hair falling across his face and over his light eyes. "Because when he gave it to my mother, he told her to give it to someone who resembled all of those qualities. My mother said the same thing to me, to give it to someone with a restless fire burning in their soul and ferocious loyalty in their eyes."
"Why didn't you give it to Alesandria then?" Onyx asked, shaking her head. Another smile lit his lips. "Alesandria doesn't have the restless fire you have in your soul or the intriguing eyes you have for art. Only you, Onyx."
His light eyes went down to the necklace against her neck. "Keep it. A little piece of art with you every day."
The Mind Siphon stroked the ruby jewel once more, a smile slipping on her face. "I will. Thank you."
Draco simply nodded, offering her a smile. He moved to give her a hug when something seized his body. His gaze casted upwards to the ceiling, his ears twitching slightly. "What is it?" Onyx asked.
"Sounds like Rheynoak is approaching quickly" he whispered, shaking his head. "I better be on my way. He's very territorial of you."
"Oh you don't have to-"
But he vanished before she could finish her sentence.
Seconds didn't even pass before Rheynoak appeared behind her, settling his warm hands on her shoulders. Onyx held her breath as she turned around, a shuddering breath escaping her lips. "You sure have a tendency of scaring people away" she breathed, letting her hand stroke the necklace.
"It's a specialty of mine" he simply said, shrugging. His hazel eyes lowered down to the necklace, a frown pulling on his lips. But he said nothing more, simply circling his arms around the Siphon's waist. Her breath caught in her throat, her hands landing on his shoulders as she held onto him tightly.
"Listen, Rheynoak. I had some time to think about what you asked me" she said, stroking his arm gently. "About being yours."
The tribe leader's eyes lit up, his gaze lowering to her own eyes as he listened patiently. "I haven't had much experience in the lover's department and I don't know anything about romance. Hell, I would be a terrible lover." A nervous laugh escaped her lips, her cheeks turning red as she uttered those words. "But I do know that I can't hide my feelings for you any longer. No matter how hard I try. There is no denying that I want you, Rheynoak Casvionel. I've wanted you from the start and I still do."
Static silence reigned between them, their hearts beating in tune with each other. The tribe leader's hazel eyes bore into hers, his arm tightening around her waist. Cradling her face gently in his other hand, he leaned down to whisper, "It's always been you that I've wanted Onyx. Always you."
The two shared a smile before the tribe leaders lowered his lips down to hers. A breathless moan escaped Onyx's lips when his soft lips touched her, passion and heat dancing between them as they held each other close. Their lips were in sync with each other, their hearts beating as one.
A breathless squeal left Onyx's lips when he pressed her against the curve of the wall, his desperate hands palming the shape of her curvy body. Her fingers tunneled through his hair, pulling him closer and allowing him to engulf her in flames as he seemed to shatter her with every kiss.
His lips tore away from hers and continued their torturous journey down the curve of her jaw and neck, nibbling on her delicate skin. The Siphon propped her legs up against the wall to keep from falling, her body burning with fire as he left her in fragile pieces and ruins.
"You don't need this anymore" he whispered against her skin, his eyes locking with the Ruges imprinted on her arm. Taking her hand gently, he pressed his fingers in the middle of the Ruges and pressed hard. Slowly, the designs began to materialize, leaving nothing but smooth skin.
The black ink disappeared from her skin, leaving an empty feeling on the Siphon's skin. A magnetic pull burned on her arm, pulling her body towards the curve of the wall she was pressed against. Her gold eyes trailed over to the curve, a frown on her lips.
"What's the matter?" Rheynoak whispered to her, cupping her face with both of his hands this time. Despite the confusion in her heart, Onyx shook her head, paying her attention back to the man that stood in front of her, his hazel eyes smiling.
"Nothing. Everything is perfect." With those words whispered on her lips, the two smiled at each other and Onyx allowed herself to smile and be happy as he captured her lips in a breathtaking kiss.
