"Like TOTALLY! He was like, staring at me for the whole period!" I was eating at McDonalds with Amy. We hardly ever come to McDonalds for lunch break. We always bring our own lunch, but hey, change is good. Alexi, the popular girl, was gossiping with her friends about her latest crush, Jake.  I secretly liked Jake, too. But he would never like me. He would never see a shadow. But that doesn't mean Alexi would grab his attention. Even though they were both popular, Jake is nice, while Alexi is a total snob. 

 But just now, hearing what Alexi and her friends were gossiping about, my heart fell. So he did like her. "Yo, you okay?" Amy was staring at me. She stopped chewing her hamburger. "Oh, wait wha-? Oh yeah, I'm totally fine. Yeah, really. Really." Amy regarded me suspiciously. I was probably babling. 

"Is it because of Alexi and Jake?" Amy asked.

"Shhhhhh!" I lunged forward accross the table and covered her mouth. I stole a glance toward Alexi and her friends. "They might hear!" I whispered. Amy rolled her eyes and took my hand away from her mouth, but didn't say any more.

 "And today, class, we will be starting a science assignment, blah blah blah. You will be working in groups of two, blah blah blah blah blah. I will be choosing your partners, blah. You will be typing a report about diseases and doing a presentation of it in two weeks. NO, Jerry, you may not do a report about your self-invented "booger worms" disease." Mrs. Inton said all of this in her squaky voice. Everyone thought she looked like a overweight, cranky bird. Mrs. Inton wore glasses that settled on top of a very pointy and sharp nose. Her lips were long and thng, stretching almost all across her face. She had a short plump fingers and pudgy hands.

 I was in Science class, and I spent most of the time stealing glances toward Jake, who was in my class. I sat two desks to the right of Jake. Alexi was also in this class. She sat directly infront of Jake, flipping her blond hair with her hand every two seconds into Jake's face. She even turned around to Jake and batted her long, unatral eyelashes at him when Mrs. Inton said "In groups of two".  That nerve!

 Soon, Mrs. Inton was calling names. Michael and Maya. Tom and Inkie. Jerry and Rona. Rona's groaned and received sympathetic grunts accross the room. Nobody liked Jerry. He was a creep. And later,

"Jake and-"  There were only a few girls left. The remaining girls a crossed their fingers and wished to get picked. Alexi tossed her hair again. 

"Samantha!" Audible, disappointed sighs came from around the room.  Alexi frowned and whipped her head around, probably confused who Samantha was, until she spotted Samantha and glared at her. To Alexi, "Samantha" was probably some anonymous girl that was in her grade. 

 I was shocked. I was paired with my crush! I turned around and saw Jake looking at me. I quickly turned away to hide my blush. I had got to be the happiest teen this very minute on Earth. 

 Soon, Jake gathered his stuff and came to my desk. "So, what kind of disease do you want to do?" He asked with a smile. Words became stuck in my throat as my cheek burned at his dazzling smile.   "Uh, I-I don't k-know.... How about... Uh, cancer? No wait, too common... I bet like everyone else is doing that! Don't you? Oh... how about like... Really, I don't know... Oh, how about... Er... um... Potato chips?" My mind was totally clogged up.

He stared at me curiously, and laughed. "You're funny, Sam. I might enjoy this project after all." Then he winked at me and picked up his books and left. I just realized that class was over. Suddenly, I felt someone staring at me. A turned around. Alexi was staring at me with a look that could kill. I gulped.

I quickly fled the classroom.
