The next morning Emma awoke not remembering the dream she'd had and stretched with a loud groan before getting ready for the day with the other girls. Just like yesterday, they had more O.W.L talks in the classes they hadn't had yet until today, and Emma even had to introduce herself properly to the teachers she hadn't met. For example, this morning she had Double Charms, and Professor Flitwick asked her to tell the class about herself - which was embarrassing because for a few minutes she'd forgotten who she was. But after that for period three, she had Transfiguration, and, luckily, Professor McGonagall acted as though she'd been in her class since first-year which she was grateful for.

And then was Herbology, something Emma wasn't a fan of. It was utterly boring. She didn't care about plants, whatsoever. It was hard not to zone out, even when it was a necessity that she paid attention since it was O.W.L year. Care of Magical Creatures, the last lesson of the day, was the only fun class she'd been to so far. Apparently the usual teacher, Professor Hagrid, was absent, so this new teacher Professor Grubbly-plank was taking over for him.

Emma gasped loudly. This lesson was all about unicorns. she'd seen many magical creatures before, but not a unicorn, and who doesn't like unicorns? All Emma wanted to see now was a dragon. she'd only seen them in the newspaper for the Triwizard Tournament last year.

Pansy was the first to drift over toward the unicorn, along with numerous others. The boys could only observe the unicorns, as apparently the unicorns preferred girls over boys. Whilst watching the girls pet the baby unicorns, Draco and a few other boys decided to taunt Harry and his friends. Emma only rolled her eyes and wandered over toward the unicorns, too, and carefully touched it's white coat, moving her hand all the way up to his horn. It felt similar to a wand, only stronger and more powerful, even though a unicorns horn probably couldn't shoot out spells and such, but it seemed as though it gave the unicorns it's own power.

The day would have been completely OK, had what happened in the common room right after dinner never happened the moment Emma took off her robe. She walked over toward the armchairs with the other girls, her robe tucked under her arm, until the weight of her skirt had completely disappeared, and she screamed, bending over to press her robe against her bare bottom half. Angry, Emma sat down quickly with her robe still pressed on her thighs, and managed to pull her skirt back up.

"Sorry!" Blaise shouted as he darted up the dormitory stairs. "It had to be done!"

And the worst part of it all, everyone was looking at Emma as though she had a third eye.

"Stop looking, you nosey gits!" Sabrina snapped, shooing them off. She scoffed and sat on the armchair opposite Emma. "At least we warned you."

"Yeah," Emma whispered, embarrassed. "But I forgot."

Sabrina shrugged, smiling half-heartedly. "Everyone will forget by the morning. Blaise does it all the time to first-years, so no one will care, really. They're used to it by now. Any way -"

Sabrina stopped talking and leaned over to look at the portrait door the moment it burst open, and someone panting burst threw it. Emma frowned and looked over her shoulder to see Draco rushing over, looking as though he'd just run all around the Quidditch pitch.

"Did he..." he panted, "did he do it?"

"You mean Blaise?" Emma cocked my head to the side questioningly.

Draco stopped panting and simply smiled. "I'm going to kill him," he said calmly before bolting up the dormitory stairs.

Sabrina and Emma shared a confused look, and stared harder at each other as they focused on the commotion coming from above us - laughter, and what sounded like bed legs scraping along the floor, yelling along with more laughter, what sounded like trunks dropping, possibly books being thrown, and much more laughter.

"I don't even want to know," Sabrina muttered before standing. An amused smile spread across Emma's face. "Let's go to bed."

'Dear mum and dad,

Hogwarts is great, and I'm really loving it here. I was sorted into Slytherin and I've made so many friends, even from Gryffindor and Hufflepuff. From Slytherin there's Sabrina, Pansy I think, Draco, and I'm working on Blaise at the moment, and I'm friends with Fred and George in Gryffindor, and I think I'm friends with a Hufflepuff named Seth. Fred and George are Weasley's, I've heard you mention them a few times. It isn't a lot, but for the first few days I dare say it is. I don't think I've made any enemies yet, but I think it's a start. It's so much better here than in America. There isn't a touch of technology which makes it so much more fun, and I'm glad the two of you are back together, otherwise I wouldn't be here in this smelly Owlery writing this letter. Write me back as soon as possible, and give me details on the adoption. I love you.

Emma.'

Emma tied the letter to a barn owl and watched it set off toward the heavens. She really hoped when she returned home there'd be a new brother or sister waiting for her. It surprised Emma by a lot when her mum and dad brought the topic up, seeing as they hadn't been remarried for very long. But, she wasn't complaining. Emma was bored of being an only child.

"Well if it isn't our favourite Slytherin," two voices chorused. Emma didn't need to turn around to know who was standing there.

"Hi, Fred. Hi, George," she stated before turning around with a smile.

"Well, someone doesn't sound very happy to see us," George pouted. Emma knew it was George from his longer nose.

"I sound normal," Emma laughed half-heartedly. she looked down at the boxes in their hands. "What's in there?"

"The secret to our success."

"The second secret to our success," Fred corrected his twin. "The map. Remember?"

"Oh, yeah."

"I'm not even going to bother asking what the two of you are on about. But, I'll be leaving now. Have a lovely day!" Emma moved to skim past them but they stopped her.

"Try one of these," Fred handed her something that looked edible wrapped in clear plastic.

Emma frowned, staring at it. "What is it?"

"Haven't you ever seen a custard tart before?" George joked.

"Goodbye," Emma rolled her eyes jokingly, exiting the owlery and shoving the custard in her pocket to bin as soon as possible after hearing Fred and George laugh.

September finished quickly and it felt like it'd only been a week since Emma first arrived. The temperature was beginning to drop at a slow rate since they'd neared Christmas, but they'd had to get through Halloween first. Emma wondered what Hogwarts done for Halloween? About a week into October, Fred and George cornered Emma and forced her to meet up with Harry in the courtyard. She did, in fact, ask them what it was about, but they told her they didn't know if they could let her in on it unless Harry knew.

Harry was alone in the courtyard and he seemed to have known that Fred, George and Emma were approaching him in the first place. He stood once he acknowledged them, and gave Emma a small smile.

"So, where are your friends?" Emma asked, glancing around. She normally seen Harry with his two friends Hermione and Ron but now they weren't to be seen.

"Prefect stuff," he shrugged in return.

"We're not here to talk about," Fred shuddered, "prefect stuff. We're here to talk about," he then cleared his throat, bugging his eyes at Harry, "the you-know-what for the you-know-what."

Harry and Emma seemed to have shared the same expression, and they exchanged a glance before Harry blinked up at Fred and George since they were a lot taller than him and Emma.

"The what?" Harry and Emma asked at the same time.

George replied with the same answer, "The you-know-what for the you-know-what."

Fred rolled his eyes when Harry didn't say anything, and he waved his hands around as he spoke. "D.A"

"Shh!" Harry scolded, furrowing his eyebrows before glancing swiftly around. It appeared that he was looking for a particular person seeing as many people had passed without glancing Harry's way, and he looked right through them.

"Don't worry," Fred assured him. "Umbridge isn't here. We could spot the hag anywhere."

"Fred," Harry eyed Fred, and then he eyed George, "George. Can I have a word?"

Emma stood back as Harry, Fred and George spoke quietly, looking her way occasionally. she breathed out slightly, leaning on her leg and crossing her arms impatiently. Just as she was about to tell the three boys that she had somewhere else to be, which she really didn't, they parted from their huddling and returned over to her, Fred and George grinning, and Harry smiling slightly.

Harry opened his mouth to speak, but Fred and George beat him to it. "I -"

"Harry's teaching us Defence Against the Dark Arts in the Room of Requirement -"

"- and we want you to do it with us -"

"- because you're about the only Slytherin we can tolerate -"

" - Fred, George!"

"But the only thing is, you can't tell anyone, and -"

"- Hermione has a fake Galleon that gives us the date and time of our next meeting in the Room of Requirement -"

"- Guys! Hey - Come on -!"

" - Just a second, Harry. And -"

" - we also think you're a reincarna-"

"SHUSH!" Harry hissed loudly, nudging the twins slightly.

The two ginger's fell silent, their grins still plastered on their faces as they stared at Harry as though they hadn't said a thing and were waiting for him to tell me the news. Emma managed to suppress her giggle. Though, she did find learning Defence Against the Dark Arts by nothing other than Harry Potter quite exciting, and if he'd offer to teach her, she wouldn't hesitate to accept.

"Really? How many of you are there? Can I join?" the questions seemed to fly out of her mouth without a thought

Harry stared at Emma for a moment in silence before he exhaled quite loudly through his nose, looking like he didn't know where to start. He looked back at Fred and George.

"Guys, I don't think this is such a good idea," he told them.

Fred and George's mouths dropped. Emma was pretty sure hers did, too. Why wasn't it such a good idea? It wasn't like she was going to run her mouth to everybody if it meant learning how to defend herself and offend others.

"Why not? Because she's a Slytherin?" The twins chorused as if they'd been reading Emma's mind.

"No, not because..." Harry said immediately, trailing off afterwards. "I just...I - er...just give me the night to think about it, all right?"

"That sounds fair enough," Emma nodded, folding her arms. "Thanks, Harry."

Harry nodded before turning back to Fred and George. "And you two should have come to me first -"

"We did."

"No, I mean you two should have told me why you wanted to meet me here."

"Would you have come if we did?" Fred grinned.
