[Your POV]

It had been a while, and everyone had gotten used to my usual daily absence, which I used to spend in nature. David thought it was awesome how I loved to be in nature so much, but I just found it to be my thing. I was just picking a random route in the morning when David called out to me. I turned to him.

"Dadvid?"

He smiled widely at my nickname for him.
"Aww!! But anyways, I think Max needs to spend a little more time in nature-"

A voice interjected.

"No I don't."

David continued easily.

"So I was hoping you wouldn't mind taking him with you today!"

I shrugged. Even though on the inside, I dreaded this. Max basically hated my guts. Nikki told me he was just salty and hated my connections with David, but I could always feel him glaring when I left in the mornings. It usually burned, but sometimes felt like ice. I think it depends on how Max is feeling. I turned off, stalking away.

"Let's go, Salt Lord."

He groaned before Dadvid prodded him on, and he neglectfully followed me.

[Max's POV]

Y/N and I silently walked through the woods for a while, until my internal salt built up and I couldn't contain it.

"Where the fuck are we even going?!"

     Y/N shrugged.

"I just walk until I find something new. Like... See that tree with the circle and 'X' through it? I carved that when I first made it this far."

     I deadpanned.

"And I care because?!"

Y/N looked back to me with a hesitant smile.

"It means we're almost to somewhere beautiful, of course!"

I groaned, Y/N and I falling back into a- surprisingly- calm silence. I stared at the slightly shorter girl's back, and memorized her walking pattern.

"I can feel you staring you know. It doesn't burn as much as usual though."

She stated, not sounding as cheery as before. What happened?

"The fuck?"

Y/N glanced back at me.

"Your stare. When you glare at me, it usually burns. It doesn't burn this time."

She stared into my eyes contently. It wasn't creepy. Just curious. And I couldn't look away.
