[Your POV]
David ended up needing to go into town to get some things from the store, and I decided to go with him.
While casually listening to music in the car, David brought up a few topics.
"So, how's Camp Camp been treating you so far?"
I shrugged.
"It's pretty nice. The woods in the surrounding area is pretty fun to scout out, despite Max's constant saltiness."
David smiled a bit and nodded. More houses started to pop up from the horizon, letting me assume that the town was nearby.
"H-hey Dadvid?"
David hummed with his usual smile.
"D-do you think we could stop at the orphanage? I have an old friend there, and I really miss her."
He smiled widely, and nodded eagerly.
"I can probably let you guys chit chat while I do my shopping?"
I hesitated.
"I-I could always help with that too!"
He seemed to smile wider. Kinda creepy.
"Gosh, you are just the most helpful little one I know!"
I smiled, looking down to my hands.
"I-I just want to be a good step daughter."
He parked the car in front of the orphanage and looked me in the eyes.
"I couldn't ask for a better daughter."
I felt my eyes watering as I forcefully hugged David, smiling wider than he did.
"T-thank you."
He hugged back, and I could feel his smiling. After a comfortingly long hug, I let him go.
"W-well, I guess I should be going. Seeya in..?"
I left the goodbye unfinished.
"Howbout an hour?"
He asked, and I nodded.
"Perfect. Thanks Dadvid!"
I yelled to him before jumping out of the car. I walked through the orphanage (A/N actually almost wrote asylum) until I found my old room, and carefully opened the door.
"Lyyyyyyyraaaaaaaa~"
My good old lazy friend Lyra shot out of bed and smiled psychotically.
And then I was pinned to the floor.
"Y/N! YOU'RE BACK! Wait... Why are you back?!"
