Ramen


Before you ask; yes. That is the ramen from Ponyo.

While I write this I am munching on homemade deep fried chicken strips and French fries made by dear old parental unit. Feel free to turn green with jealously.

A while back, I caught sight of my parental unit with food other than just noodles and broth in her ramen. I was intrigued, to say the least. Okay I was begging for some cause it smelled and looked really good. Either, way. I liked it. It excited my stomach and made my brain cells tingle. I had to make ramen like that for myself. And I can just about assure you, that after trying ramen with others things besides just a flavor packet, water, and noodles, ramen will never be the same. Now, I'm going to tell you how I make my ramen.

Ramen For The Picky Eater

Water. What's your preferred amount of water? Use that. But if you actually wanna do this how I do it, I use a small pot for my ramen and just enough water to cover the noodles. I'll try and measure out exactly how much I use later for you guys.

Noodles. Yes. Those squiggly things that comes in the packet. Those.

Flavor Packet. Yea, you guessed it. You need that, too.

Meat. Cooked meat. Whether it's left over from dinner or just some ham you have. Heck, you could even take all the meat off a leg of chicken. I like to cut it into little pieces, but do ye as ye wish.

Bok Choi. I get bok choi at Wal~Mart. Oooh, scary, I know. But their bok choi is actually really good and their stores are small enough that they actually pay attention to whether or not any of it is rotten.


Hard Boiled Egg(optional). As stated prior, this is optional. But if you're gonna do it. Do it first. You need to have an inch of water above the egg, and the egg in the water before it boils. As in, put the egg in the water when you first put the pot on the stove. Put it to 7, or 8, your choice. Once it starts to boil set the timer to 15. I mean an actual boil. And put a lid on that shit. A lid. The sooner the better. After it's done, pour out the water and put them in a bowl with cold water. Knock 'em around a bit so they're cracked and the cold water can get to them. Unless they're already cracked.

Or

Egg(Optional). When the water is boiling crack an egg in and call it good. And stir it around a bit.


Further Directions: Cut up the bok choi and meat and then proceed to put them in a bowl. Put the flavoring stuff in the bowl and mix them around. Halfway through the noodles being cooked put the things in the bowl in. When the noodles are done cooking, put them in the bowl. Finally, cut the hard boiled egg in half and put it in.

Hope you enjoy this. My mom's is still pretty fancy but mine is good, too. Feel free to adjust it as you want.
