WELCOME TO BEACON HILLS.

***

The next morning, after finally managing to get a few hours of restless sleep, Sarah woke up to the smell of bacon.

She let out a sigh while staring up at the ceiling. She was still here. Letting out a puff of air, Sarah rose up, gazing around at the now sunlit room.

Birds chirped faintly outside, the sun now high in the sky as the trees blew gently with the wind.

She slowly climbed out of the bed, changing clothes, before shuffling towards the door, hand raised in hesitation over the handle. She couldn't hide up here forever. She reasoned, quietly opening the door and stepping into the hallway. As she made her way down the stairs, Sarah could make out the murmuring of voices from the kitchen. She wandered into the room, wringing her hands in agitation, gazing at the scene before her.

Melissa stood at the stove, the sizzling of bacon being heard as she hummed quietly to herself.

Scott sat at the dining room table, chewing on a piece of bacon, leg bouncing underneath him, before his head snapped up at Sarah's entrance, a surprised smile appearing on his face.

Melissa glanced over at Sarah, giving her a playful grin. "Well, look who decided to join us." she said, before turning back to the food. "We were starting to wonder if you'd ever come down. We don't bite, we promise." she spoke, flipping a piece of bacon, before turning towards Sarah again. "Are you hungry?" she asked. "You must be, you barely ate anything yesterday." she pointed out, glancing at Sarah in concern.

"Uh, yeah, a little." Sarah muttered quietly, taking a seat at the table across from Scott.

Melissa smiled brightly. "Well, I hope you like bacon, because that's all I really have at the moment. It's hard to keep a full fridge with a werewolf scarfing everything down." She narrowed her eyes at Scott, who gave a wide-eyed look at his mother.

"What?" Scott said, letting out a chuckle of embarrassment, scratching at his head. "I get hungry."

Sarah quirked her lips up in a small smile, watching the scene between them with a sense of fondness. Her heart sunk as she thought about her dad, expression faltering slightly, before quickly giving a fake smile towards Scott before he could notice.

He turned back towards Sarah, his face brightening. "I'm glad you decided to come down." he whispered quietly, leaning in so his mother couldn't hear.

Sarah nodded, giving Melissa a thankful look as the woman sat a plate of food in front of her. "Me too." she responded in a low voice, eyes downcast, while picking at her food. She hesitated, glancing up at Scott for a moment. "Scott?" she asked.

He looked up from his plate, swallowing a bite, before giving a response. "Yeah?" he acknowledged.

"Do... do you think it would be alright to try something with getting me home today?" she questioned, before continuing. "Not that I'm not enjoying you and your mom's company—it's just—" she stumbled, trying to think of the right words to voice her thoughts.

"It's fine." Scott chuckled, giving her a soft smile. "I think I actually know someone who might be able to help. His name's Deaton. He's actually my boss." Scott explained, taking another bite of his food in thought. "He's gotta know something about this stuff."

"So, he knows a lot about the supernatural?" Sarah asked nervously, already knowing the answer, but not wanting to seem suspicious.

She had already decided that it would be better not to mention the fact that the only reason she knew about any of them at all was because that their lives were a TV show in another universe. She had a feeling that would not go well. It was a miracle in and of itself that Scott believed what she had told him so far, and Sarah didn't want to push her luck. She really did not have the desire for Scott to look at her like she was insane.

Scott nodded in confirmation. "Yeah, he's kind of like a Druid—or a witch, I guess—" he broke off, furrowing his brows. "It's kind of hard to explain." He gave her a kind smile. "We can head over there after we eat if you want." he offered.

"Yeah, I think that'd be good." Sarah muttered quietly. "Thank you for this, I really appreciate it."

"Like I said," Scott started off, voice filling with compassion. "It's no trouble." he told her gently.

"Alright." Melissa cut in, dusting her hands off as she turned off the stove. "That's enough supernatural talk for one evening. Both of you, eat your food, now." she ordered in a light tone, glaring at them both playfully.

Scott cleared his throat, giving Sarah an apologetic look, before going back to his food.

Sarah forced herself to take a small bite of her food at the firm look Melissa sent her way, eyes glazed over as her mind raced with anxious thoughts.

Please. She pleaded inwardly, begging whatever supernatural force was out there. Please let this work.

As Sarah climbed out of the car, she studied the familiar building of Deaton's Animal Clinic, her heart in her throat.

Scott shut the car door and came to a stop beside her, stuffing his hands in his pockets as he gazed at the building. His head turned towards Sarah, eyes scanning over her nervous expression, before giving her a kind smile. "You ready?" he asked her gently.

Sarah's eyes flickered between Scott and the building for a few seconds. She sighed, letting out a deep breath, before finally giving a nod to Scott. "Ready as I'll ever be." she muttered.

Scott grinned, starting to walk towards the door. "Don't worry, okay? Deaton is a nice guy. He'll help us." He pushed open the door, holding it until Sarah had stepped through.

A soft ding rang through the air as the door clicked shut, obviously meant to alert Deaton to any new customers he received.

"Just a moment!" Deaton's voice called out, the sounds of faint clanging coming from the other room.

"It's just me, Deaton!" Scott said loudly, quietly motioning for Sarah to step closer.

"Scott?" Deaton asked in confusion, his voice getting closer. "I didn't think you had a shift today..." His voice trailed off as he finally rounded the corner, eyes landing on Sarah, who was still partially hiding behind Scott. He then turned towards Scott, raising an eyebrow in question.

Scott gave a nervous smile. "Yeah... I'm kind of here for something else. Something that doesn't have to do with your day job?" he asked his boss hopefully.

"Ah... I see." Deaton said, eyes flickering between the two teenagers. "And what could I do to help you two, that doesn't involve my day job?" he questioned them both curiously.

Sarah had a sudden realization. Deaton wasn't sure if she knew about the supernatural. He suspected, that much was obvious, but he wasn't entirely sure if she knew, and he wasn't about to risk exposing himself and Scott unless he was completely sure.

Sarah cleared her throat, raising her chin as she stepped out from behind Scott, lifting her gaze towards Deaton's. "You could help us with something that was supernatural." she stated, watching as Deaton's mask of indifference faded away.

His lips quirked upwards in a small smile. "I thought as much." he spoke, taking off his latex gloves, before facing them again. "So, what is it I can do for you?" He glanced at Sarah again, curiosity in his gaze. "I assume you are the main one in need of my assistance?" he asked.

Sarah swallowed, turning her head towards Scott nervously. He gave her a reassuring look, gesturing for her to continue, before she finally faced Deaton again.

The veterinarian stood there patiently, waiting for her to speak.

"Yeah, I am." she confirmed, crossing her arms over her chest. She hesitated, letting out a breath, trying to think about how she was going to explain her situation a second time. "It's—well—it's a bit hard to believe, I guess." she let out, stumbling over her words a bit.

Deaton gave her an amused smile. "Trust me," he began, leaning back against the wall. "There is nothing you could say that I haven't heard before."

Sarah winced, running a hand through her blond locks of hair as she sighed. "You might just live to regret those words."

Deaton gaped at Sarah in astonishment, shock filling his face as she finally finished her story.

Sarah paused anxiously as her eyes raked over the veterinarian's still form.

Scott stood beside her, gazing at his boss in worry.

Silence filled the room as the older man seemed to process what had been told to him.

"...Wow." Deaton uttered, voice filled with awe, reaching a hand up to scrub at his face.

"Yeah." Sarah sighed, collapsing into an empty seat near the wall as she reached up to rub at her temples. "Wow."

Deaton blinked rapidly, clearing his throat as he tried to get his bearings. "So..." he started off, straightening up as he focused on Sarah again. "You're from another universe." he stated, repeating Sarah's words from earlier.

"Yes." Sarah said slowly, nodding in confirmation as she wrung her hands in anxiety.

"And you're asking me... if I know of a way to transport you back to that universe?" he asked her in disbelief.

Sarah's heart sunk, already realizing what he was about to say.

She swallowed. "I was hoping that you might." she muttered softly, "I mean, you just know so much about the supernatural that I just thought..." she trailed off at the apologetic look on Deaton's face.

"I'm afraid that's a bit above my pay grade." he told her gently, his face showing regret.

"So, what does that mean?" Sarah asked him hopelessly, defeat in her voice. "Are you saying that there's nothing you can do to help me?"

"I'm saying," Deaton began, letting out a sigh as he looked between the two of them, "I'm saying that I'll research it, I'll try and find anything available that might help, I'll do everything I can." He gave Sarah a look of remorse. "But right now, all I can say is..." His voice trailed off as he shrugged his shoulders helplessly. "Welcome to Beacon Hills."

Sarah felt a lump forming in her throat, leaning over to put her head in her hands. She flinched as she felt a hand on her shoulder, glancing up and seeing the bright amber eyes of Scott, who's eyes were filled with sadness.

"I'm so sorry, Sarah." he told her sincerely, his voice drenched in sympathy. "I really am."

Sarah stared at Scott for a moment, before giving a short nod, trying desperately to stem the burning tears growing in her eyes. "I'm fine." she choked out, not even glancing in Scott's direction as he sat down in the chair beside her.

Her whole body tensed up as she felt him put his arm over her shoulders. She squeezed her eyes shut, clenching her jaw as she fought back tears. Don't cry. Don't cry. She tried to pull her body away, but Scott was having none of it. He gently pulled her body towards him, letting her head rest on his shoulder, murmuring soft reassurances in her ears.

"It's okay, Sarah." he told her soothingly, his chin pressing into her blond hair. "You're gonna be okay."

"I'm fine." Sarah repeated, voice cracking. "I am. I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine—" Her voice broke, letting out a strangled sound, as she buried her face in Scott's shirt. Her whole body started to shake with silent sobs.

Scott closed his eyes, embracing Sarah tightly as he helplessly listened to her grief.

"It's okay." he said, voice shaking with emotion. "It's okay, it's okay, it's okay..."
