Sarah Williams sighed, slamming her pencil down in frustration. Her algebra homework was splayed out in front of her, the current cause of her increasingly growing headache. She had been working on it for hours and still hadn't managed to get through even half of the assignment.
It was driving her insane.
The blond haired girl leaned back in her seat, hands over her face, and let out a muffled scream.
Somewhere to her right, an amused chuckle rang out.
"Glad to see you find this so amusing, Dad." Sarah said, voice still muffled from her hands.
John Williams came into the room with a smile and took his daughter's hands from her face. "I'm sorry, sweetheart. It's just that I've told you over and over not to stress over this so much. You'll get it eventually."
Sarah frowned. "But I don't have time for eventually, Dad! I need to make sure I have good grades so I can get into a good college one day and-"
"And you will." Her father interrupted her. "You'll get there. It just takes time." He gently kissed her on the forehead. "But for now," he started out, snatching Sarah's textbook up and tucking it under his arm as she let out a startled noise of indignation, "You are going to take a break. Well, a break from this at least. Get up. I need you to watch your sister while I'm gone to work."
"Wait, what? No, Dad! I have to study. Please just-" Sarah fumbled for the words to convince him until her dad held up a hand to stop her.
"No arguing. You haven't spent time with your sister in ages and now is as good a time as any for that to happen." he stated.
Thunder suddenly boomed outside the house, causing the both of them to flinch in surprise.
"You're going out in this weather? Seriously, Dad?" The young teen asked worriedly. "What if something happens?"
"Bosses orders, kiddo." he said, leaning down to give her a quick hug. "Don't worry, okay? I'll be fine. I'll see you both later. Don't wait up for me if it gets late." He walked toward the door before turning around and giving his daughter one final look. "Relax. I mean it." Then he was gone.
Sarah listened as her father's car drove off, before groaning and finally forcing herself to get up. "Harper!" she called out, walking down the stairs before turning and seeing her younger sister playing with some dolls on the living room floor.
The small blond headed child glanced up, before grinning widely. She threw her toys down before running towards her sister and tackling her in a hug. "Sarah!" she squealed, hugging her sister tighter. "Dad said that he had to go to work and you had to do whatever I wanted! Is that true?" The young girl asked, looking up at Sarah in excitement.
Sarah couldn't help giving a small smile. "I suppose." she sighed out in amusement.
Harper let out an exited yell, before taking Sarah's hand and dragging her towards the couch in front of the television. "I wanna watch Teen Wolf!" The girl said. She plopped down on the ground and pulled the DVD out of one of the shelves, before putting it in the disk player. Soon, the shows logo was appearing on the screen, it's theme music playing in the background. Harper then turned and sat down next to Sarah, who had already gotten the remote to press play.
Sarah had to admit that she did like the show. It was interesting and had entertained her every time she saw it, but she wasn't as obsessed with it as Harper was. The show had ended about a year ago, but her sister still insisted on watching it all the time. It was one of her favorites.
Sarah stared at the screen, before shaking her head in amazement. "I still can't believe that Dad actually lets you watch this. I still think you're too young for it. I mean, people get killed on this show!"
Harper giggled. "Don't be such a buzzkill, Sarah."
Sarah gaped, before scoffing. "I am not a buzzkill."
"Are too." Harper grinned.
Sarah groaned. "Alright. I'll stop." She paused, watching the characters interact on the screen. "Hey, Harper?" she asked. "Who did you say your favorite character was again?"
Harper glanced over at her sister, before facing the TV again. "Scott." she stated, before letting out another giggle. "He's cool." She looked over at Sarah again. "Who's yours?"
Sarah thought for a moment while staring at the screen, before finally thinking of her answer. "Stiles." she finally decided.
Harper scrunched up her nose. "Stiles?"
Sarah looked over at her little sister in amusement and a little bit of surprise. "What? You don't like Stiles?"
"He's okay," Harper said, leaning into the couch. "I mean, he's funny I guess, but he doesn't have any powers or any cool stuff like that."
Sarah sat up a bit straighter in her seat, before turning to face Harper. "But that's what makes him so cool, you see? He fights all of the monsters and enemies all by himself without any powers to help him." She didn't really understand where the need to convince her sister that Stiles was a good character came from, but the urge continued her on. "He's also really smart and comes up with a lot of the plans for Scott to use."
"But he gets thrown around all the time! It would be easier to fight if he had powers." Harper argued.
"But he always gets back up," Sarah countered firmly. "He always goes back into the fight, no matter how many times he falls down or almost dies. He knows that he's more likely to die in a fight because he's human, but he does it anyway. What could be more braver than that?" she finished.
Harper paused, seeming to consider Sarah's words for a moment. "I guess... that does make sense."
Sarah smiled, seemingly satisfied.
"Scott is still better though."
Sarah pulled her sister towards her. "Alright. Come here, you!" She tickled her sides mercilessly while Harper's laugh rang through the air.

Sometime during their Teen Wolf marathon, Sarah had fallen asleep, only to be jolted awake by the crashing sound of lightning.
Her head whipped around in fright, before realizing what had happened. She gave a sigh of relief, only to panic when she looked over to see her sister nowhere in sight.
"Harper!" she called out, jumping up from the couch.
A flash of lightning came again.
"Harper, this isn't funny! Where are you!" Sarah yelled.
She flinched again when another sound of lightning came, sounding like it was right over the house.
Sarah was ten seconds away from absolutely losing it. Harper wouldn't have just ran off, right? She had to be here.
"Harper, I swear to God, if you don't-" she started to say before freezing at the sound of the TV clicking on. Sarah slowly turned to see the same Teen Wolf logo from earlier on the crackling screen. The television automatically turned off if it wasn't being used for something, so she was confused at how it had randomly turned back on.
She went over and turned it off, only for it to instantly turn back on.
Sarah's brows furrowed.
What the hell?
She tried it again and again, but the same thing continued to happen. The television would just flicker back to life.
She laughed nervously.
"Alright, very funny, Harper. You got me," she said, only to freeze when turning and seeing the remote laying on the couch in the same spot she left it. She licked her lips nervously, only to flinch at the sudden blaring sound of her car alarm going off.
Sarah slowly stood up, staring at the flashing lights beaming out from the windows.
She had a sinking feeling in her gut.
Lightning flashed and illuminated the darkness of the room as she gradually moved towards the door. Sarah's hand shook as she reached out to grab the handle, only to jump in surprise at the small voice behind her.
"Sarah?"
"God!" Sarah spun around, clutching at her chest in shock. "Harper, you can't do that to me! And where were you? Didn't you hear me call your name?"
Harper yawned and rubbed her eyes with her little fists. "I went to sleep in my bed. I woke up 'cause I heard that really loud noise." The little girl said, pointing out the still blaring car alarm.
Sarah sighed in annoyance, before pinching the bridge of her nose. "Alright, we'll deal with it later. Just... stay here, okay?" She turned back around while swallowing a lump in her throat, still slightly unnerved from the events of earlier. She turned the handle and slowly pulled the door open, reaching over on the desk by the door to grab her keys.
Sarah ignored the freezing rain and wind while pointing her arm towards the car, pressing the small button on the remote that was meant to turn the alarm off.
The alarm continued to blare.
Sarah growled and pressed the button again.
And again.
And again.
"What the hell is going-?" she yelled out in fury, before letting out an ungodly scream as a blinding flash of lightning struck her car.
While her arms covered her head, she vaguely heard Harper's terror-filled scream as well. Her ears were ringing as she lifted her gaze to stare in disbelief at her now flaming car.
All thoughts left her as she realized what had happened.
"No." she said in horror. "No, no!"
Her English essay was still in her car. It was worth one hundred points.
And it was due tomorrow.
Shit.
Without thinking, Sarah ran out into the thunderstorm and straight towards her destroyed car.
"Sarah!" Her younger sister yelled out, about to run after her, only to freeze when the older girl whipped around and pointed at her.
"Stay there!" Sarah shouted out over the rain, before tearing off towards her car.
God, not her essay. The one she'd been working on all month. Her schoolwork, her laptop-everything was in that car.
Finally reaching the vehicle, the young teen shielded her eyes, trying to see into the car. Lightning continued to crash all around her as she jiggled the door handle, but it wouldn't budge. She screamed in frustration. "Goddammit, come on!"
As Harper watched her sister from the door of the house, she looked up just as thunder rumbled ominously in the sky above them.
The girl's eyes widened in realization.
"Sarah!" Harper screamed.
Turning her head, Sarah looked her sister right in the eyes just before it happened.
A flash of lightning fell from the sky, striking Sarah dead in the chest, sending her flying backwards and then suddenly-
Gone.
Harper Williams could only stare in shock at the empty space where her sister once was. Her lip wobbled as she shakily stepped forward. "Sarah?" she whispered, voice cracking in grief.
Nothing.
"Sarah!" she screamed out into the rain.
But there was no answer. Her sister couldn't hear her.
Sarah Williams was gone.
