NOT IN KANSAS ANYMORE.

Beacon Hills, California

***

Isaac Lahey was not having a good day.

He was having a terrible day, in fact. So terrible, that he was seriously considering hurling his drunk as hell friend from his car, thunderstorm or not, and leaving him for dead.

"Hey, Isaac, do you ever just... think about... the moon and shit?"

Fucking. Violently.

But Isaac decided he would not do that. No, he would take a deep breath, calm his nerves, and drive the little bastard home.

"I mean... it's so weird to think that some dude actually made it up to that shit, you know?"

Derek would kill him. Scott would kill him.

"I mean—"

"Zeke!" Isaac snapped, clenching his hands tighter on the wheel. "No offense, but I'm not really interested on your thoughts about the damn moon." He sighed, leaning back into the seat, glaring down the rain-soaked road.

Somewhere in the distance, lightning flashed.

"For the love of God, Zeke. One day. Just one day where I don't have to drive your drunk ass home. Is that too much to ask?" Isaac growled.

Zeke snorted, fumbling to roll down his window. "Whatever, man. I seem to remember you taking some shots yourself. Not like I had all the fun." He grinned, finally managing to get the window down. Rain poured into the car, the freezing wind blowing directly towards himself.

"Well I didn't drink four damn bottles and—" Isaac started angrily, only to stop and stare in disbelief at his friend. "What the hell are you doing?"

"What does it look like? I'm becoming one with nature, man!" Zeke said as he stuck his head out the window, tongue out to try and catch some drops.

Isaac could only roll his eyes in annoyance. "Get back in the damn car, before you get yourself killed."

Zeke only laughed.

Suddenly, thunder rumbled ominously. It started off slow, before the reverberations rose up to a hair-raising level. And it was far too close for Isaac's liking, especially with his idiotic human friend's head hanging vulnerably out of the car.

"Zeke, I mean it. Get back in the car, now!" Isaac snapped.

"Would you relax, man?" Zeke groaned out. "It's only a little—" He paused, squinting up at the thundering sky, before trailing off. "What the hell...?"

Isaac growled. "Are you deaf? I said—"

A body slammed onto the hood of the car.

Isaac flinched and let out a yell, slamming on the breaks. The car skidded to a stop, the body thrown violently off and onto the road.

Zeke let out a stream of curses.

"Shit! Shit! What the shit!" Zeke shouted. Next to him, Isaac could only stare in shock.

"I-I didn't-" Isaac stammered. "There w-was no one there—"

"What the shit, man!" Zeke went on.

"It was like they came out of nowhere!"

"Oh my God, what if they're dead? Oh shit, man, what if we killed somebody? I can't go to jail, man! I can't do it! My parents will kill me!" Zeke ranted, hands tangled in his hair.

"Would you just shut up for a second and let me think!" Isaac yelled out. He closed his eyes, letting out a slow breath. "Just... stay here." He shakily climbed out of the car. Isaac paused for a moment, trying to get his bearings, and to prepare for the horrifying possibility that he might have ran someone over, before finally mustering up the courage to move around to the front of the car.

The headlights shined brightly, illuminating the still figure in the pouring rain. Thunder boomed overhead, echoing for miles. Isaac shivered. The person was obviously a girl, that much he could make out, but the pounding rain and thunder prevented his werewolf senses from letting him hear the one thing he wanted to hear.

A heartbeat.

He froze, hearing a faint groan come from the girl. He then watched as she shakily lifted her head towards the lights of his car before he finally sprung into action. He slowly started to walk over, hands out in a peaceful gesture, not wanting to scare the girl, before finally saying something.

"Hey! You alright there? Can you hear me?" Isaac asked.

The girl blinked sluggishly at him, before letting out a slurred, "What...?"

Isaac tried to give a comforting smile and came closer. "You've been in an accident, alright? So I'm going to need to take you to the hospital." He reached out a hand to touch her. "Do you understand?"

The girl looked up at him in a daze, before her face filled with confusion. "I... I..." she began, but before she could get any more words out, her head lolled to the side and collapsed.

"Shit." Isaac said, crouching down beside her. "Zeke, call a damn ambulance!"

The storm raged on.
