20.Epilogue
Jason had a feeling that he couldn't be a bigger charmer of fate. "I'm holding you my love" he gathered Elena's hair behind her neck and stroked her back soothingly as she knelt in front of the toilet, throwing up for the third time this morning. "I'm sorry, I thought I was better" Elena gratefully accepted the wet towel he offered her. "Will you stop apologizing?" Jason crouched down and gathered the long train of her dress and carefully placed it between his legs.
"Is she okay?" came the voice of Isabella Frost, Michael's wife and Elena's maid of honor. "Yeah, twins don't like tension" Jason called out and smiled as he continued to stroke Elena's back, who put her hand on the toilet seat and laid her head on it, grunting exhaustedly. "Twins love nothing but sleep and food" she complained and Jason laughed softly so as not to annoy her.
Twins. They had found out a week ago and Elena already had names for them, Jeffrey Michael and Penelope Quinn Hex, a boy and a girl. God bless 3D videozones. However, this pregnancy squeezed Elena from the very beginning, she did not stop vomiting, almost around the clock. "If you think you won't make it, say..." Elena jerked her head up and the movement caused another bout of nausea, she stood up and threw her head into the toilet, clutching the rim as she threw up what must have been her lunch from a year ago, because it was already threw up everything she swallowed afterwards.
"No!" she wheezed and sat back on her arm with a sigh. "I'm wearing a fucking wedding dress, I've got hair and makeup and you look hot in that tux, I'm not going to let the twins take away my wedding!" Jason bit his lip to keep from laughing. "Okay, shall we try to straighten you up?" she nodded but didn't move. "Kitty, you have to get up if you want to get married" Jason joked and Elena swung back, hitting him weakly on the knee.
He waited a little longer, Elena took a deep breath and he picked her up, helping her to her feet, then took the wet towel and cleaned her mouth, kissing the tip of her nose. "There you go" he put down the towel and handed her a toothbrush. Elena made a face, but accepted and started brushing her teeth. "Let's do it quickly, shall we?" she asked whimpering as she brushed her teeth. "I'll do what I can, Isabella will help you, and I'll wait for you at the altar, okay?" Elena spat, nodded and frowned, and Jason walked out, still stifling his laughter.
"Can we shorten the ceremony? My fiancee is pregnant and not feeling well?" Jason smiled at the priest, who nodded enthusiastically. "Is she okay?" Michael put a hand on his shoulder. Jason smiled and nodded. He couldn't even believe that Michael Frost was his best man. Elena was definitely a victory that changed his life.
She had broken through his shell, in fact she had made him a crumb, bringing out the best in him, she had taught him so much, she had shown him what true loyalty and faithfulness was, what it was to love and be loved, what it felt like to have a real family that supported you unconditionally. Elena had fought against him and for him, and won every battle.
He looked around the church, he wasn't sure how they gathered so many guests, acquaintances, friends, associates, Beatrice was sitting with Christina in her arms, their daughter was about to turn one, her smile was dazzling and he waved at her and Beatrice showed her how to send him air kiss. Jason pretended to catch it and then handed it back to her, causing his little princess to clap her hands happily and her laughter was the most beautiful sound this church had or would ever hear.
The heavy double doors opened and he looked up. His heart would jump, making constant rotations in his chest. Elena was stunningly beautiful, draped in silk, lace and satin, her veil hiding her incredible smile, but he just knew she was there. His little cat, the love of his life, the only woman born to tame the beast in him. His sunrise and sunset, the sun and the moon, with her everything was dear and serene to him, everything mattered and at the same time meant nothing compared to her.
Her smooth gait was the only thing that separated him from full possession of this divine vision. Elena walked slowly, staring at her future husband, her eyes swimming and she was grateful that the veil was hiding her tears. Her knees trembled as she watched him waiting for her upstairs, standing to the priest's left, with a smile that seemed to light up the church. Elena walked past Beatrice and blew Christina an air kiss, waving her fingers in greeting.
If her life was a dream, Elena never wanted to wake up. No matter what hardships they had gone through, or would go through, happiness was more. Jason had already given her so much, confidence, love, security, home, Christina, and now the twins. And now a real family. She couldn't love him more, her heart and soul belonged to him.
Just thinking about how it all started, how much they had fought, the Turners were found guilty and in jail, Elena had agreed to stay home, her pregnancy was hard but she was enjoying it because Jason was really there for her at every step of the way, not complaining, not arguing, he just stood by her side, offering her comfort and reassurance when she needed it.
"Elena Vale, do you accept Jason Hex as your lawfully wedded husband?" Elena looked down at the ring that Jason had just placed in front of her engagement ring. "I do" she replied quietly and heard Jason let out a strained sigh. "Jason Hex, do you accept Elena Vale as your wife?" Elena bit her lip, Jason lightly squeezed her fingers. "I do" the priest smiled broadly, closed the book he was holding and lowered his hands in front of him.
"If there is anyone who is against these two lovers entering into this marriage, speak up now or shut up forever" Jason shot a glance at the guests but met only approving smiles and teary eyes. "In that case, ladies and gentlemen, I present Mr. and Mrs. Hex, you may kiss the bride!" the priest took a step back, Jason grabbed the end of Elena's veil and swung it behind her, pulling her in and passionately sinking his lips into hers, receiving a hearty rapturous response from the guests, accompanied by claps and whistles.
"I love you, kitten" he rested his forehead on hers, hugging her around the waist, his palm on her stomach. "I love you" Elena whispered tearfully, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Are you ready Mrs. Hex?" Elena nodded with a big smile, Jason intertwined their fingers and they both went down the stairs to the exit of the church. When they reached Beatrice and Christina, Jason let go of Elena to take their daughter in his arms, then took her hand again, leading them both out and into their new lives. A wide smile played on his face, and in his stomach he seemed to feel a butterfly dance, which heralded happiness like from fairy tales. Jason would personally make sure it would be.
