Part five ❄️ Home

Ice woke up later that afternoon not long after Bubble had. He blinked a few times in wariness before looking down at Minny, still sleeping somewhat peacefully in his arms. She hadn't moved much since Ice had fallen asleep, she clung her injured paw close to her chest as her shallow, uneven breaths wheezed noisily from her chest. Minny's ears were still uncurled and drooping behind her back, the creases in the fur were really the only part of her that wasn't covering in dried blood and grime.

The Beartic could barely contain himself from growling and lashing out at whatever he could find. If it weren't for Minny sleeping in his arm, he probably would have wandered off to do that but Minny seemed peaceful for the first time since her rescue and rousing her was something Ice didn't have the heart to do.

"How is she?"

Ears twitching, Ice looked up at Bubble who was looking down at Minny's broken figure with sad eyes.

"I don't know..." Ice shook his head. "She's really weak and I've never heard her stuttered so badly before. It's going to take her a long time to get over this, if she ever does." He knew that Minny doesn't d sometimes stutter when she was nervous or scared but the way she had spoken the night before was worse then he'd seen from the young Buneary.

Hearing Ice and Bubble's voice's, Minny woke up, quickly recoiling in pain as she hugged her broken ribs and paw tighter in fear. She made tiny mews of agony and let out a whimper of pain, curling up in a tight ball against Ice's arms. For the young Pokémon, the day before was a haze, a surreal mix of dream and reality that seemed to good to be true.

Bubble frowned as she started crying, taking the small Buneary from Ice's arms, gently rocking her like a small child -- which she was -- trying to comfort the pained Normal type. "We should get her to Chansy, she'll know what to do." The Azumarill muttered, looking up at Ice while Minny slowly calmed down in her arms.

Ice nodded, standing to his feet and shaking out his fur before crouching down, inviting Bubble to climb on his back with Minny. He was determined to get to the village before midday so Chansey could take care of Minny's injuries and he could her a much needed bath.

The Fairy type looked unsure. "Are you sure it's alright?"

He nodded patiently. "We'll get back to the village faster."

Minny whimpered again, struggling in Bubble's arms, not knowing what was going on around her. The dark world around her offered no peace and the voices she now heard had become strange to her after only ever hearing Drapion's voice for the past three years, she was afraid of whatever voice she could hear but did not know.

"It's okay Minny, I've got you." Bubble said soothingly, understanding how afraid the blind young Pokémon would be in this situation.

"B-Bubble?" Minny whimpered, memories of the night before misting through her mind.

She gently stroked Minny's head, running her hand over her ears as she quietly hushed the Pokémon in attempt to make her feel better. "It's me." She said softly.

"I-I th-thought it mmmight have be-een a a dream." Minny sniffed, clinging onto Bubble. "I-is Ice h-here?"

With a gentle urge to her cheek, Ice gave a soft reply. "I'm right here Minny, and don't worry, we're going to get you taken care of." He smiled as Bubble climbed on his back before she sat her down on the Beartic and feel him beneath her.

Bubble held onto Minny tightly, but not tight enough to cause her anymore pain then she already was. Minny clung onto Ice's fur, leaning forward to lie down against his back. A small, hardly noticeable smile danced across her face. Feeling the presence of her friends easily made Minny feel calmer and much safer then she'd felt in a very long time. She tried to speak but couldn't form words so she settled on a pleasant hum, burying her face in Ice's soft, straw like fur.

The elder Pokémon glanced over his shoulder, seeing Minny once more drifting off to sleep on his back. He could feel her muscles relaxed and knew she felt safe so he started walking down the mountain, his ears continuously flicking back and forth to listen to the surrounding. While the night before had been peaceful, he didn't expect Drapion to just give up Minny to him easily.

"Carful now, I'm going to speed up." Ice warned, giving Bubble a moment to make sure Minny was securely on his back before speeding up to a run. He wanted to get off this mountain as soon as possible and get Minny back to the village so she could get treated properly by Chansey.

The snow crunched under foot as the forest passed by in a blur. The wind swirled around him, tugging at his fur as if trying to speed him up, urging him to get back to the safety of the village. He kicked up snow in masses behind him as he stretched his limbs forward, barely touching the ground before once again leaping forward. Forest Pokémon stopped to look at the speeding Beartic, taking a moment to wonder what he might be in such a rush about but didn't pay to much attention to it before going about their day.

He only slowed when he reached the village. It had been a while since he'd been down here and many of the Pokémon gave him odd looks but said nothing as Ice padded through. Bubble shielded Minny from the view of prying eyed villagers. She didn't want to answer the questions on why Minny was suddenly here after three years and just wanted to get her help. Chansey's hollow was on the out skirts of the village, with a large welcoming door to any Pokémon who may be injured and in need of assistance. Ice looked through the window, catching sight of the Egg Pokémon as he caught his breath.

Bubble slipped from Ice's back, Minny curled up in the safety of her arms. She woke with a start, squealing rightfully as the world moved moved but she could not see. "What's happening?" Minny squeaked, tugging lightly on Bubble's tail which she was now clinging to for comfort.

"Shhh, it's okay. You're okay." Bubble soothed. "We're back at the village, we're going to get you taken care of by Chansey." She told her gently as she waddle through the door Ice was holding open for her.

Chansy entered the room, looking confused at the presence of Ice and Bubble, before she noticed Minny that is. "Oh my, what happened?" She paused a moment to examin the Buneary in Bubble's arms. "Is that Minny? I thought she..."

"It's a long story, just please take care of her." Ice pleaded, inwardly happy that Chansy was one of the more forgiving Pokemon of the village and had long ago accepted him. "She needed help."

Chansy was taken aback slightly by the pleading of the usual silent and grumpy Beartic but quickly snapped out of it at the urgency of the situation. "Right I will, bring her this way." The Normal type Pokémon gestured to the table sitting in the centre of the room which Bubble placed Minny.

Surprise by the sudden feeling of being alone, Minny yelped nervously, not being able to feel the presence of any friends nearby. She tried to stand up and feel around for something with her good paw, her misty eyes darting around but not seeing anything but her knees trembled weakly before she fell on stomach, causing more pain to her broken bones.

Bubble quickly gave her tail back to Minny, letting her cling to it for comfort once more as she whispered reassuring things to the baby Buneary. Minny quickly hugged onto Bubble's tail, whimpering as pain shot through her chest. The Azumarill gently stroked the top of her Buneary friends head, letting Minny know that she was still by her side.

Chansy quickly went to work, trying to figure out just how hurt the small Pokemon was. She was reassuring to Minny, gently explaining where she was going to touch Minny next so she lowered the risk of frightening her while she asked questions about what was broken or hurting. The nurse was patient with Minny's stutters, waiting quietly by her side as the young Pokémon struggled with her own words. Bubble stayed by Minny's side, keeping her calm when Chansy would touch something that cause her pain while she gently explained what was going on around her.

Eventually Chansy took a step back, shaking her egg-shaped head. "There's nothing overly serious... By the looks of things, a lot of bad breaks in her bones though but nothing that won't heal without plenty of rest."

Ice looked down at Minny who was sitting silently on the examination table, clinging to Bubble's tail while the older Pokémon focused on Chansy's words. "Is their anything you can do to help her get better sooner, at least help with the pain?" He questioned.

Chansy paused, looking Ice up and down a moment. "I can use Soft Boiled to heal what I can but with Minny in such a state, it's effects won't heal everything. I do have some medicine you could take home with you and I can make a splint to help with the healing of her paw. The rest is really up to you."

Ice just nodded and watched as Chansy's egg glowed from within it's pouch. The Egg Pokémon absorbed the glow between her stubby hands, transferring it to Minny. A slight squeal of shock came from the surprised Normal type as the healing energy spread through her body. The feeling was vaguely familiar, a distant memory of when she'd first been blinded surfacing as Chansey had tried her best to save Minny's sight but her efforts were in vain as the young Buneary lost her eyesight regardless.

Cuts closed up and infections healed. Minny winced as she felt her rib cage shift beneath her flesh, the shards mending themselves into one large but frail bone. She relaxed as much pain left her body, leaving her tired and hungry but so much better. Ice couldn't help but smile a little, seeing the obvious changes in his little friends health as Chansey turned away, going through many different medicines made from berries that filled the shelves in the room, trying to find the best one for Minny. She pulled three jars from the shelves. One filled with blue liquid, one pink and the last a yellow green like mix.

"Give these to her, one with every meal. The pink one is made with Pecha Berries and will help with her infections. The blue one uses Oran Berries and will help her get her strength back and so will the last vile, a mixture of my own creation that should help speed the healing process, though, some younger Pokémon do tend not to like the taste."

"As l-long a-s it i-i-isn't rotten, I d-don't th-think I'll m-mind." Minny breathed beneath her breath, clutching Bubbles tail tighter as she drifted in and out of sleep.

Ice frowned slightly as he looked at Minny, unused to hearing her speak in such a manner but he quickly discarded the thoughts, he could tell that her wounds were not only physical and he had no doubts that her scars stretched deep within her mind. Unfortunately, the village carried no Psychic type Pokémon that could help with this and Ice was no expert on the mind of children but he knew that the sweet, innocent Buneary he used to know would have changed a lot over the past three years but that wouldn't stop him from loving her all the same, more so now that he finally had her back.

"Try to keep her from stressing over the next few months, keep her laying down whenever possible but still give her some exercise to get the mussels in her legs working again." Chansey told Ice as she gently fixed a splint to Minny's paw to assist in the recovery of the broken limb. "But nothing to extreme, even just a few steps a day. Her bones are still frail so try to keep her from doing anything to rough. Other then that, she just needs to be well fed to get her weight up, warm and rested until she heals. Plenty of tlc never hurt anyone either."

For a few moments, Ice was stuck in a daze, before brought to reality by Bubble snapping her fingers. "Y-yeah." He muttered, taking the viles. "Will do. Thank you for your help Chansey." The old Beartic picked up Minny with the tender touch of a loving parent, cradling her in his arms as a father would a baby.

"It was no problem, feel free to bring her back if there is ever a problem you need help with." Chansey smiled as the trio left.
