Chapter 8: Get a tattoo.
~ Chapter 8: Get a tattoo. ~
I guess Katie was completely wrong because Damon ended up knocking at my door in the middle of the afternoon. I was already dressed up so I opened the door and let him in, glad that I hadn’t been wrong. Or maybe I was and he was here to tell me we had to stop doing this. We sat in the couch and I waited a little before getting the list out.
“So… What’s the program today?” Damon asked.
“You still want to do something from the list?”
“Of course. Didn’t we agree on doing something every day?”
“If you don’t want to it’s fine.”
“No, it’s a great idea.”
See, I was right! I knew I was. Katie could suck it. I got the list out and Damon read it to find something to do.
“The things left are pretty cool but I don’t know how we could do them.”
“What, for example?” I inquired.
“Parachute jump. Swim with dolphins or sharks. Go to an awesome concert. And plenty of others like that.”
I went up to get my computer and searched where we could parachute jump. The only place was miles away and we’d have to drive for a long time to get there. I showed it to Damon and he told me he couldn’t today cause he had an appointment in the hospital the next day and we wouldn’t be home in time to make it. I looked at something else on the list and found Get a tattoo. I showed it to Damon and he made a funny face.
“I wrote that one without thinking…”
“Are you afraid it might hurt?” I teased him.
“Of course I am! I kind of hate needles and all that comes with it.”
“What if I hold your hand during it and give you a lollipop when it’s over?”
“Haha.”
“So you don’t want to do it?”
He thought about it and searched something else from the list but finally sighed and said he would do it.
“You don’t have to.” I said. “If you don’t want to get a tattoo, it’s fine. It’s your list, remember?”
“No, I wrote it and I meant it. I want to get a tattoo before I die.”
“Ok. Well let’s do it then. Are you sure?”
“Positive.”
“Awesome.”
We got into the car and I turned up the radio so that he could try to relax a little. He was freaking out a little. And then, I thought about Katie. She would totally hate me. Oh, and after all, whatever! Screw her! She wasn’t his mom! Damon only had a year left and if he wanted to get a tattoo before dying, then it was his business, not hers. Right?
Damon searched for a tattoo artist who wasn’t too far away from here and found one who was fifteen minutes away. He relaxed after a while and we laughed and sang. When he got there, he started to freak out again and stayed in the car for a few minutes to try not to pass out.
“You’ll just have to look away.” I tried to reassure him. “It hurts at first but then you get passed it. Otherwise, no one would get a tattoo, don’t you think?”
He nodded, not so sure about it and got out of the car.
“You’re sure you want to do it?” I asked again. “I really don’t care if you say no.”
“I’m sure.”
I smiled and we got into the place. There wasn’t anyone getting tattooed and the guy was reading something. He was huge, had long black hair and had tattoos all over him. I have to admit he was totally scary. But Damon didn’t run away and asked him if he could see the different types of tattoos the guy could do. The tattoo artist got a catalog out of the desk drawer and Damon looked into it. He took his time to choose and finally made up his mind on a really cool Chinese sign. It was not really big but it was really cool.
“You’re ready?” The tattoo artist asked, getting his big thing that would tattoo him.
Damon nodded and sat.
“Do you want your girlfriend to hold your hand?” The guy inquired before getting starting.
I thought about telling him I wasn’t his girlfriend but Damon just shook his head so I shut up. I smiled to Damon and the guy warned he was going to start tattoo. And he did. I saw Damon grimace in pain, about to scream but he held it in and I took his hand, even if he had said he didn’t need it. Seeing him suffer wasn’t funny at all. But I wasn’t the one who wanted a tattoo after all!
It lasted for a long time but finally, when the guy was over, he moved and explained to Damon it would hurt a little for a few hours and what he had to do to keep it from getting infected or something. Then we got in the car and I congratulated Damon while checking Get a tattoo out of the list. He was pretty happy and proud of himself, which made me glad he had done it. Whatever Katie would say. He got home after thanking me for helping him go through with it.
I prepared myself and then Sam knocked at my door at seven, as planned. I invited him in and offered him something to drink. He started kissing me, it got pretty hot, and I don’t know what got into me but instead of stopping him like I would usually do, I led him to the bedroom. It was like Jenny had the control of my brain or something. I could hear her telling me that I should enjoy and have fun while I could and Sam was so hot I had thought he was surely the guy I could have fun with. So I did.
About an hour later, Sam and I got out of bed and got dressed back. And suddenly, I realized that I had just had sex with a guy I had just met.
“I don’t know what you’re thinking right now, but I don’t usually do this.” I said.
I didn’t want him to think I was some sort of easy lay. Not that Jenny is one, but I don’t usually do this at all while Jenny likes doing it some time to time.
“Me neither.” Sam answered.
I don’t know if he was lying and I didn’t really want to know.
“I actually wanted to talk to you.” Sam went on.
“Oh.”
“I know it must seem pretty horrible just after having sex with you and everything but um… I needed to tell you that I was leaving.”
“Leaving?” I repeated.
“You know I told you I was an art student. Well, I got accepted to the Beaux-Arts in Paris.”
“Oh my god! That’s… amazing! Paris!”
“Yeah, it’s an opportunity of a life time and so I’ve gotta take it. I’m sorry I didn’t stop you earlier…”
“No it’s ok.”
“I don’t want you to think I was trying to have sex with you just before leaving…”
“No, I don’t think that, don’t worry. I’m kind of the one who threw herself on you. It’s ok.”
“Good.”
“When are you leaving?”
“Um… Tomorrow.”
“Oh! That soon.”
“I’m sorry Leah I didn’t know when I met you and…”
“It’s ok.” I interrupted him. “I swear.”
“I should um… I should probably go.”
“Right. I’ll walk you down.”
I opened the door and tried to think of something to say. Sam hugged me.
“I hope I’ll see you again someday.”
“Enjoy Paris.”
“Thank you.”
He kissed me on the cheek and said “bye” before going. Well… That was new. I really wanted to call Jenny to tell her what had happened and surprise her but I decided I’d wait until tomorrow morning and went to bed. I texted Damon and asked him if Katie had liked the tattoo but he didn’t text me back so I fell asleep.
(Hey again, it's been a few chapters since one of those Author notes and I just wanted to quickly say that for now they're doing pretty normal stuff for the bucket list but don't worry, there's more dangerous and awesome things coming, they have to start witht he easy ones! Anyway, as usual, please don't forget to vote/comment and let me know what you guys would do first on your bucket list in the comments!)
