Chapter 5: Watch every Harry Potter movie
~ Chapter 5: Watch every Harry Potter movie. ~
Damon came back alone. I don’t know why but I was happier with it just being the two of us, I wouldn’t have wanted to feel like the third wheel and I wanted some quality time with my old best friend without him being all lovey-dovey with his tall blonde girlfriend. And yeah, I know I said I would try to get to know her a little better but I didn’t want to do that tonight.
“Katie said she was tired so she’d pass on that one.” Damon explained.
“Ok. Then I guess it’s just the two of us. Should I make pop-corn or do you prefer to order pizzas?”
“Do I have to choose?”
“You’re right, let’s eat both.”
I ordered the pizzas and we sat on the couch with big blankets and pillows to get comfortable.
“Do you remember when we put Dragibus on our pizza?” Damon asked.
“With spicy sauce! That was terrible!”
“What?? That was so good!!!”
“Ewe! You’re crazy!”
He laughed.
“Ok, you’re ready?”
He nodded and I pressed the play button. Well, you’re not going to believe it but we did watch the four first movies then decided we would take a break and slept a few hours in the couch. Then, we watched the other ones and finished all of them in the beginning of the afternoon. At the end, Damon took the pen and checked the first square.
“That was really cool.” Damon said, yawning.
“Yeah but we should probably go take a shower. No offense.”
We laughed and finished the brownies. Then Damon got up and went back home after thanking me. I make him promise to come back tomorrow to do something else from the list. Then I ran in the shower and put on new pajamas that actually smelled good and not like pizza or sweat. Ewe, I know.
Jenny called me and I explained to her the situation with Damon (I didn’t tell her he was dying exactly, just that I needed to spend some time with him because he was sick) and that I wouldn’t be going back to college this year. She was a little torn about this decision because she said she “needed her best friend there” but she also agreed that maybe spending time with Damon before he’d have to go was a better idea than beating myself up when I’m in class because I’m wondering if he’s ok and because I’m loosing the few more months I have with him. (Oh, I also told her that he would move out soon across the country. I don’t know why but I just couldn’t bring myself to tell her the actual truth)
She promised to come as often as she could by the house to see me and said she was going to tell our friends so that I don’t have to answer all the calls of people wondering where I am and everything. I thanked her, and then we spoke about something else. About an hour later, I realized my phone’s bill was going to explode if I didn’t hang up so I did and lay in my bed for a few minutes. I heard the door and thought that it was probably Seth coming back home. And well… Let’s say he really didn’t expect me to be there. I went down and found him, (god just writing those words make me nauseous), in action with a girl.
“Oh my god!” I exclaimed, while covering my eyes.
The girl screamed and covered herself with a blanket while Seth was getting up.
“What are you doing here?” He asked surprised and a little angry too that I had cut him in the middle of … well you know.
“Um… This is my house remember? Can I talk to you in private?”
“At this point, I think we crossed the lines of privacy.” Seth said ironically.
He stood there, his arms crossed.
“Why are you still here?” Seth asked again. “I thought you and Jenny were going back to college today!”
“I’m not going to college anymore.”
“What? Why?”
“None of your business.”
“Um… It kind of is actually! You kept on judging me when I told mom and dad I wasn’t going to college and everything and now that you do the same, I don’t get to say anything?!”
“Go on and judge me, I don’t care.”
“Is that all you wanted to say?” Seth asked, while being hopping up and down with impatience.
I sighed and saw there was no point in keeping on talking to him. The girl was still waiting here, wrapped in the blanket.
“Wait!” She said at some point. “Is she your girlfriend?” She inquired, angrily.
“What? No! She’s my sister!” Seth exclaimed.
“Oh! Well, you guys talk. I’m going home.”
“No! Stay!” Seth almost screamed. “Stay please.” He repeated a little quietly.
I said I’d go and took my bag and my headphones then slammed the door, a little furious of being thrown out of my own house. I wanted to see if Damon was home but I really didn’t want to walk on another awkward situation again. So I walked a little in town and stopped in a park. I listened to music and wrote a little on the notebook I always had on me in case I had a sudden inspiration. I was completely immersed in my story when I heard someone breathing over my shoulder. I jumped with surprise and almost screamed before turning my head.
“Sorry! I didn’t mean to scare you!” The guy said. “I was just wondering what you were doing.”
“Do I know you?” I asked, trying not to sound that angry when I was actually pretty furious to have been scared to death like that.
“I don’t think so. I’m Sam. And again, I’m so sorry I scared you. So… What are you doing anyways?”
“Just… writing.”
“Oh! Are you a writer or something?”
“Not really. I just write.”
“Did you draw that?” He asked, pointing at one of the faces I had drawn to picture what my character looked like.
I nodded, a little embarrassed.
“It’s amazing!”
“Not really. But thanks.”
“I think I know what I’m talking about. I’m an art student.”
“Oh. Do you have good grades?”
He laughed.
“I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be mean.” I said, realizing I was a little aggressive and on the defensive for no real reason.
“It’s ok. You didn’t tell me your name though.”
“I’m Leah.”
“Can I read what you wrote?” He asked, glancing at my notebook.
“No. Sorry but I’ve never let anyone read anything that I’ve ever written. Besides, it’s not even the beginning of the story…”
“Well… I’ll wait ‘til your book comes out then.”
“Don’t hold your breath.”
He shrugged and sat next to me. I frowned. Um… Did he realize I was trying to be alone to write or was he completely retarded?!!
“Do you have plans later?” He asked at some point.
“Excuse me?”
He repeated his question, not troubled at all.
“I don’t even know you.” I answered.
“Well, that’s the point of the date.”
I hesitated but thought maybe if I said yes he would leave me alone. I could text him to cancel at the last minute if I didn’t want to go.
“What time?” I inquired.
“Seven?”
“Fine. Give me your phone number.”
He typed it into my phone.
“I’ll leave you alone now.”
I thought “Hallelujah” but just nodded. He said he’d see me tonight and left. I didn’t know if I’d go. Probably not. I didn’t even remember his name, since I wasn’t really listening. Maybe I was a little hard on him. He was probably a nice guy. Maybe I should leave him a chance before talking bad to him and all. I realized I wasn’t writing anymore, too busy wondering if I’d go to this date or not, so I packed my things and called Seth before coming home. One scene was enough for me.
“Are you decent?” I asked.
He said yes so I went back home and covered my eyes before coming in. I opened one of them and saw no one was doing anything on the couch so I went upstairs and screamed that I was home. You know, just in case.
I took out my computer and copied the few lines I had written in my notebook in the park. Well… That wasn’t brilliant. I tried to work on it a little more but realized I was exhausted so I turned off my computer and fell asleep.
