Chapter 12: Fly first class and ride jet skis

~ Chapter 12: Fly first class and ride jet skis. ~

After a few days, Damon and I decided to move out of here. We had an argument on who would pay for the plane tickets and everything that we would need (like an hotel room, the food, the gas etc) and Damon got the last word. He would pay for everything. He told me he had a lot of money and that he didn’t need it, he was going to die and he couldn’t take bills in his grave with him. The violence of those words made me cry a little but after a long hug and some candies to cheer me up, I stopped. I know, I’m awful, I’m supposed to be cheering him up and not the opposite, but, what do you want, I’m weak. The thought of loosing him just takes every strength I could possibly have.

I surrendered and let Damon have the last word. I mean, in some way he was right. But then I asked him if he wasn’t going to pass any money to his family but he told me they didn’t need it and that he would act selfish for this year cause it was the last he had. I agreed with him so the argument was over and we started looking for plane tickets to leave as soon as possible.

So here we were, in the airport, waiting for the boarding. We both had our suitcases registered and we just had to wait for an hour until we could go in the plane and finally get out of here. It was really exciting and we were pumped as hell. We had chose to start with Hawaii to see the sun and to enjoy the beach. It was going to be awesome! I knew it. Of course, I had the list in my bag. There was a lot we had to do there so we hadn’t booked the ticket to go back cause we didn’t know how much time we’d need.

I had to leave the house to Seth and he promised to be careful and not to have a Project X party while I would be gone. Jenny said she would call and check on him for me while I was away so that I wouldn’t have to pay expensive calls.

You’re probably wondering what happened to Katie and why Damon is leaving without her and to that, all I can answer is: that’s a very good question to which I don’t have any responses. I had asked Damon a few days ago some news of Katie and he had just told me that she wouldn’t come to Hawaii. But that we’d still go, of course. I didn’t ask more cause, again, it wasn’t any of my business and I knew that Damon had said he would be selfish for his last year so maybe he had thought he wouldn’t just not go to Hawaii because his girlfriend wasn’t going to go with him.

I decided to go see what was offered in the different shops in the airport while waiting for the boarding so I told Damon I would be right back. He had checked with his doctors at the hospital and since there wasn’t anything they could do anyways, they had given the green light for it.

In the third shop I went to, I found exactly what I was looking for. I paid for it then went back to my place next to Damon and showed it to him. It was a sort of app you could download on your phone with the code I had bought. And it was to learn how to speak French. Exactly what we needed. Damon was really happy and started downloading it to be able to listen to it on the plane.

Finally, it was time to board so we did and got settled in the plane. And in the first class of course! It was part of the list. Fly first class. We didn’t check it right away and decided to do it while we’d land. The plane took off and Damon and I put on our headphones to start learning some French. I have to say, traveling first class is purely awesome! I think going back to the normal class will be hard after that. We were so comfortable we had trouble believing we were even in a plane. We practiced some phrases orally and we managed to say a few things correctly so we were pretty proud of ourselves. We couldn’t check it off the list cause we still had a lot to learn and we had to use it at least once.

We had ten hours of flight so a lot of time to kill before landing. We played a little with our phones, watched some things on TV, listened to music, thought about more things to put on the list, learn some other things in French, ate some food (and, I don’t know if you’re going to believe me but it wasn’t awful, not like the food you’re used to when you go on the plane. I used to hate this food. But this one was actually good. I know, unbelievable!), and finally slept.

We landed in Hawaii in the afternoon (because there was six hours less, so, for example, when it’s 4 pm in New York, it’s 10 am in Hawaii.). We got off the plane, totally jet lagged, and got our suitcases back. We took a cab to the hotel, checked Fly first class from the list during the ride, and got settled in our room. It was beautiful. I couldn’t believe I was actually in Hawaii. It was hot and I just want to do one thing: go dive in the sea. I think Damon had the same idea but we were both exhausted so we decided to stay in the hotel and rest. We took a shower (not together obviously) and then went to bed. I noticed there only was one (a king sized one, of course) but it didn’t seem to bother Damon who crawled under the sheets before closing his eyes. I have to point out that he was shirtless. I slipped into bed and fell asleep almost immediately. It just took me about an hour to calm down and try to forget that Damon’s abs were just at hand’s reach.

The next morning, we both woke up early and we went down to eat the best breakfast we (or, at least, I) had ever had. Then we went back upstairs to take our stuff and got going to the beach. Finally! I couldn’t wait to be there. And so did Damon. We almost ran. I took off my sandals and dug my toes in the warm sand. Damon did the same and we stood there for a second, smiling like two idiots. At some point, we moved and settled out stuff on the sand before taking our clothes off and running in the water. We were screaming like two kids and we splashed each other a couple times. I floated on my back and stayed like that for some minutes. It had been a while since I had come to the beach and damn I had missed it! Even if I’m not a fan of bathing suits, I just love being in the water. I remember when I was little, I used to stay all day long in the sea. I wasn’t getting out until we had to leave.

“This is paradise.” Damon said, floating on his back too.

“I never want to leave this place.”

“Me neither. I wouldn’t mind dying here.”

I almost choked but got myself together.

“Damon, please, could you not talk about you dying while we’re here?” I asked. “It’s just… I can’t think about it without crying and I’d like to enjoy those days in Hawaii as much as we can. Ok?”

“Of course, I’m sorry.”

“I’m sorry too. I know that you’re the one who’s sick and here I am, asking you not to mention it. I know I have no right to ask you that I just…”

“I get it, Leah. I won’t mention it.”

“Thank you.”

We stayed in the water a little more then got out and went in our hotel room to take a quick shower in attempt to rinse off the salt of the sea. Then we went down for lunch and took advantage of it to choose something from the list.

“Oh my god! This one is amazing! I’ve been dreaming to do it forever!!” I exclaimed, pointing at Ride a jet ski.

Damon smiled and agreed it was probably the best he got. We asked a guy on the beach where we could borrow jet skis and he showed us a little hut. We went there and about half an hour later, we were on our jet skis. We had taken two hours to be able to really enjoy it. After every explanation there was to know, we turned on the jet and moved slowly to get out of the beach. Once we crossed the line, Damon counted to three and we started driving really fast. The jet was bouncing at every wave and the water splashed me in the eyes every time but, besides that, jet skiing was simply and purely AWESOME! I screamed, laughed and enjoyed it as much as I could. Damon was a little ahead and he stopped so I did the same.

“Oh my god this is so AWESOME!!!!” Damon screamed.

“I know, right! It’s definitely the best thing I’ve ever done in my life!”

“Me too!”

We decided to do a little race and I counted to three before the two of us started our jet skis. Damon won but I wasn’t really far behind so we can say it was a tie. The two hours unfortunately came to term and we had to go back to the beach. So we did. We took a lot of pictures of us on the jet skis then gave them back with the life jackets.

“Well, that was the most amazing thing ever.” Damon said, while we were walking on the beach.

“Definitely. Maybe we’ll be able to do it another time before going.”

After passing by our hotel room to get our stuff back, we went back to the beach to enjoy the sun as much as possible. There was a pool in the hotel but Damon and I both liked the ocean better. We sat on our beach towels and I took the list out of my bag. I checked Ride a jet skion the list and Damon put a smiley face aside of it. For the moment, it had been our favorite thing from the list to do.

After seeing the sunset, which we checked out of the list, Damon and I went back to the hotel and took showers.

“What do you want to do tonight?” I asked, while tying my hair in a high ponytail.

“I have a surprise for you.”

“Oh, really?”

“I think you’re going to love it.”

“Cool!”

I took my bag and opened the room’s door, excited to discover what the surprise was.
