Part 8

As Mr Wonka was having a flashback, Charlie shouted out at the sight of a dark tunnel, breaking Mr Wonka from his past.

"Oh yeah, full speed ahead!" He yelled out, waving his hand forward.

The tunnel grew darker and darker as they glided into it.

"How can they see where they're going?" Violet asked.

"They cant. There's no knowing where we're going" Mr Wonka cynically laughed.

"Switch on the lights" he called.

The pink candy boat lit up with lights, bright enough to see a few metres in front of them but dim enough that no one could see Mr Wonka's hand tightening around Juliet's waist.

She gave a small surprised squeak. "Are you alright sissy?" Charlie questioned.

Mr Wonka smirked from beside the blushing Juliet "I-I'm fine, Charlie" she smiled, reassuring the boy.

As Charlie turned back to face the front, Mr Wonka pulled Juliet closer to him and whispered in her ear "enjoying the ride, my dear?"

Juliet shivered at the warmth of his silky smooth voice trailing down her neck.

Juliet felt a game was at play and wanted to join in so naturally.

She placed her hand on Mr Wonka's leg, causing him to tense and look down.

He looked back to her and wondered what she was playing at.

Leaning toward him that their breaths were being mixed, Mr Wonka's breath hitched.

"You know, Mr Wonka, you're missing the ride" she whispered with a wink.

The man was absolutely hypnotised, he looked down to her red lips and licked his own.

"I told you, call me Willy" was the only thing he could come back with, to which we was greatly disappointed in himself.

Juliet chuckled and removed her hand from his leg, breaking away from their little private session and held on as the boat began to descend down a strong stream and further down the dark tunnel.

The boat began speeding up as they went deeper into the tunnel, the strong stream of chocolate sucking them in and pushed them forward.

Everyone held on tightly to the boat apart from Juliet, who held onto Mr Wonka's leg again.

He laughed at her reaction.

Eventually the boat came to a slow stride as many doors appeared left and right.

"People? Keep an eye out, we're passing some very important rooms here. On your left, you'll see clotted cream, coffee cream, hair cream-"

"What do you use hair cream for?" Mrs Beauregarde questioned with a sultry smile.

Mr Wonka smirked at the woman and for a second Juliet wondered if he fancied her back, though he quickly proved her wrong by saying in a rather sarcastic tone "to lock in moisture" while puffing up his own hair.

Mrs Beauregarde looked confused and simply turned back.

Juliet looked to her left with Charlie and saw an open room with a cow inside, strapped up away from the ground with the Oompa Loompa whipping it.

Juliet laughed at the scene with Charlie, both found it hilarious. Charlie turned to a smiling Mr Wonka, who was glad someone got it at least, and asked "whipped cream?"

"Precisely!" He laughed with the two siblings.

"That doesn't make sense" Veruca interrupted with an annoyed voice.

"For your information, little girl, whipped cream isn't whipped cream at all, unless it's been whipped with whips! Everybody knows that. And here we have jelly beans, and past that- oh! Stop the boat! I want to show you something." He said and let go of Juliet's waist rather hesitantly before making his way out of the boat.

"Behold- the Inventing Room!" He explained and obviously got carried away as he opened a large round steel door labeled 'Invention room'.

Inside, a large area consisting of various machines and sounds filled the place. Colours of all sorts could be seen, some Juliet's never even seen before. Marvellous was the word she'd use for this room. "Absolutely Marvellous" she muttered.

Mr Wonka abruptly turned to her and grinned like a maniac, startling her for a second.

"That it is, my dear" he said before turning to everyone.

"This is the most important room in the entire factory. Now, everyone enjoy yourselves, but please, just don't touch anything, okay? Go on." He childishly said, giddy with excitement. He loved this room, all his ideas came from this room, after all.

Everyone departed in different areas of the room. Mr Wonka came up behind Juliet as she looked at a small machine that creates a small plant which produces candy canes.

He leaned into her ear "do you like it?" He asked in a normal voice when it should've been a whisper. Juliet cringed slightly at the volume but smiled back at him "very much so, I must say you live in a heavenly place"

"Indeed. You're welcome to visit anytime...if you'd like" he awkwardly offered, surprising Juliet.

"Really? But I thought you closed the factory to all" she raised an eyebrow.

"W-Well... I am the owner, I'm sure I can make an exception" he stuttered.

Juliet laughed, that amazing laugh he so loved "I'd love to visit, Willy"

His heart nearly stopped as she finally called him by his first name, it sounded so sweet and nice coming from her mouth.

He smiled warmly at her, causing the girl to blush yet again. Seemed she was doing a lot of that today.

"Hey, Mr Wonka, what's this?" Violet called.

Mr Wonka smiled apologetically at Juliet before making his way over to the kids.

"Oh! Let me show you!" He enthusiastically said.

A large tank of water with small balls dropping into it stood before them, a little Oompa Loompa swam through it and grabbed a red ball from the bottom. He swam back up and handed Mr Wonka the ball.

"Thank you... These are Everlasting Gobstoppers. They're for children who are given very little allowance money. You can suck on it all year, and it'll never get any smaller!" He happily stated.

"Like gum" Violet said, chewing loudly.

"No, gum is for chewing. If you tried chewing a Gobstopper, you'd break all your little teeth off. But they sure do taste terrific." He said as he threw the ball back into the tank.

He left the tank and ushered the group over to another, bigger machine.

"Now this is hair toffee. You suck down one of these little boogers and in exactly half an hour, a fresh new crop of hair will start growing all over the top of your little noggin. With a moustache and a beard!"

"Who wants a beard?" Mike asked skeptically.

"Charlie, let's get a beard. We can be called the soul brothers!" Juliet whispered down to Charlie who laughed and nod his head in agreement.

"Well, beatniks for one, folk singers and motorbike riders. Y'know. All those hip, jazzy, super cool, neat, keen, and groovy cats. It's in the fridge, daddy-o! Are you hip to the jive? Can you dig what I'm layin' down? I knew that you could. Slide me some skin, soul brother!" Mr Wonka creeped out Mike.

Juliet playfully glared at Mr Wonka, who sheepishly smiled as he had stolen her 'soul brother' thing.

Clearing his throat after he offered a high five to Mike, who didn't return it, he straightened up "Unfortunately, the mixture isn't quite right yet. An Oompa Loompa tried it yesterday, and-"

Right on cue, an extremely hairy Oompa Loompa came into view, his hair reaching the floor as a blanket.

"How are you today?" Mr Wonka guiltily asked.

The little man put up two thumbs for his boss.

"You look great" Mr Wonka awkwardly stated.

Quickly changing subject "Ooh! Look at this!" He said and turned to a bigger machine with all sorts of colours and flasks attached to it.

Wonka pulls a lever, and the machine goes through an amazing process, before finally, anticlimactically, dispensing a stick of chewing gum. Violet takes it immediately.

"Mean that's it?" Mike questioned loudly, disappointment in his voice.

"Do you even know what 'it' is?" Mr Wonka asked, slightly annoyed.

"It's gum" Violet stated.

"Yeah. It's a stick of the most amazing and sensational gum in the whole universe. Know why? Know why?!Because this gum is a full three-course dinner all by itself!" He said happily.

"Why would anyone want that?" Mr Salt asked, confused.

Mr Wonka became flustered and pulled more cards out of his coat pocket before squiring his eyes to read it.

"It will be the end of all kitchens and cooking. Just one strip of Wonka's Chewing Gum and that is all you... will ever need at breakfast, lunch or dinner. This piece of gum happens to be tomato soup, roast beef and blueberry pie." He smiled and threw the cards behind him.

Juliet moved around the machine to have a closer look, mesmerised, eventually she came to a stop behind Mr Wonka.

"It sounds tasty!" Juliet exclaimed, causing Mr a Wonka to jump at the sudden presence behind him, she simply laughed it off.

"It sounds great!" Grandpa Joe said with amazement.

"It sounds weird" Veruca begrudgingly said with a roll of her eyes.

"It sounds like my kind of gum" Violet said and took out the piece she was chewing with a sigh. She placed it behind her ear. Juliet cringed with disgust at this and watched as the little girl prepared to chew the piece.

"I'd rather you didn't. There are still a few things that we're-"

"I'm the world record holder in chewing gum. I'm not afraid of anything." Violet stubbornly interrupted Mr Wonka.

He tightened his hand, causing his purple glove to make a squelching sound.

Violet begins chewing the gum, her eyes widening at the taste.

"How is it, honey?" Mrs Beauregarde asks proudly.

Little Violet looks up to her mother "it's amazing! Tomato soup -I can feel it running down my throat!"

"Yeah! Spit it out." Mr Wonka tried convincing.

"Young lady, I think you'd better-" Grandpa joe started.

"It's changing! Roast beef with baked potato! Crispy skin and butter!" Violet interrupted, amazed.

"Keep chewing, kiddo! My little girl's gonna be the first person in the world to have a chewing gum meal!" Mrs Beauregarde said with pride.

"I'm just a little concerned about the-"

"Blueberry pie and ice cream!"

"Yeah. that part." Mr Wonka cringed, backing away ever so slightly.

Violet's nose slowly begins to turn blue.

"What's happening to her nose?" Veruca curiously asked.

"She's turning blue!" Mr Salt said, shocked.

Mrs Beauregarde turned her daughter toward her "your whole nose has gone purple!"

"What do you mean?" Violet asked, confused and slightly scared.

"Violet! You're turning violet! What's happening?" Mrs Beauregarde questioned angrily.

"Well, I told you I hadn't got it right, because it goes a little funny when it gets to the dessert. It's the blueberry pie that does it. I'm terribly sorry." Mr Wonka explained.

Mr Wonka, uncomfortable yet fascinated, stepped back to watch the ensuing transformation. He knows full well what's going to happen, so he tried to hide. Violet turns violet and begins to inflate into a giant blueberry.

As Mr Wonka takes another step backward, he bumped into Juliet. Quickly taking her hand, he pulled her behind a machine.

"What are we doing?" She whispered.

"Oh nothing, this is just in case she explodes" he casually stated.

"What!" Juliet yelped.

"I'm only joking" he sheepishly laughed. In truth, Mr Wonka wasn't joking, it has happened in some cases but don't worry, it didn't happen every time and everyone lived.

Violet blew up to be a large blueberry which caused for another Oompa Loompa song.

Of course, Juliet danced along. A few Oompa Loompa even came over and danced with her.

Mr Wonka laughed quietly at the scene.
