Part 2
"Good Day to you sir!" Juliet's entrancing voice called out.
The man she called was not having a good day nor was he anywhere near a 'sir' she claimed him to be.
In fact, this man was one of the very people who stole from Mr Wonka himself and Juliet knew this, but seeing as no evidence was ever brought forward, no one could say anything.
Juliet seemed to sense the anger coming from her boss and backed up slightly.
"Er... Are you alright Mr Fickelgruber?" She stammered, uncomfortable with the situation.
She had opened the shop perfectly as usual and most time, the man would even grace her with a greasy smile but today was different.
She hadn't done anything wrong and as most shops, yes even ice cream shops, they sold Willy Wonka's chocolate bars. Perhaps that is the reason the man was temperamental today. He must know about the golden tickets, as everyone by now do.
He grumbled at her, muttering profanities under his breath as he walked to the back room.
Juliet sighed in relief, being in the presence of that man worried her at times.
More kids came in with money she could only dream of and yelled at her to hurry fetching them their chocolate bars.
Going as fast as she could, she gave them the bars but as one child yelled at her again, startling the girl. Her body jerked and the chocolate in her hand slipped and as cruel as fate was, the bar flew and slapped the one who yelled at her's forehead.
Silence echoed throughout the store as the group, including Juliet, watched the chocolate bar slowly slide of the boy's forehead.
As soon as the chocolate hit the ground, the little brat of a boy began fake crying, hard.
Juliet panicked and immediately apologised, trying to explain herself.
Hearing the commotion, Mr Fickelgruber came out from the back and surveyed the situation.
He groaned "Oi! Stop crying brat and get out!" He growled, pointing to the door.
The kids, startled and scared, quickly gathered their chocolate and left.
Juliet was tense as her boss glared at her.
"Sir I-"
"You're fired" he cut off.
Wide eyed, Juliet stammered "W-What? But sir!"
"Leave." He simply waved off her situation and retreated to the back room again.
Juliet's wide eyed shock turned into a frown as she wondered what she would do now, her family was already struggling and her losing her job made matters worse.
She sniffed and rubbed her nose, angry at herself for crying over such a despicable man.
She untied her apron and dropped it to the ground.
Slowly making her way out, she looked back and saw the Wonka chocolate bars.
Thinking to herself, she decided, if she couldn't be happy then perhaps she can make her brother happy today.
Quickly pulling out most of her money, she grabbed a Wonka bar and left the money on the table.
As Juliet left the shop, jobless, she couldn't help but feel happy.
"How odd.." She muttered to herself.
Later that night, it was announced two golden tickets had been found.
Charlie pursed his lips and looked over to his mother with eyes that said it all: how unfair the world was.
Juliet came in with a smile on her face as usual and greeted the Buckets.
Messing up Charlie's hair, she smirked at the boy before going over to her mother.
Curious, Mrs Bucket wondered what her daughter wanted to talk about.
"So...I got fired today" Juliet straightforwardly laid out with a cringe.
Mrs Bucket's shoulders dropped. "Oh." She mumbled, depressed.
Juliet pulled her into a tight hug "We'll make it through, don't worry mummy" she soothingly whispered.
Mrs Bucket nod her head and graced her daughter with a small smile.
Turning back to Charlie, who was invested in the tv, watching the two kids who had gotten the tickets already.
Augustus Gloop was the first founder and none were too surprised as the chunky boy scoffed down on a chocolate bar while taking his interview.
The second was a high class girl named Veruca Salt, a brat of a girl as her father spoiled her rotten but anyone could see the poor man was trying his best as his wife seemed to have no voice.
Juliet shook her head at the box tv and shut it off before turning to the curious eyes of her family.
She smiled and before she could say a word, Mr Bucket stormed in hastily, shrugging off his coat and walking over to his wife. They smiled at each other before turning to Charlie.
"Um.. Charlie, your mother and I were wondering-" Mr Bucket started.
"If you wanted to, maybe, open your birthday gift... Tonight?" Mrs Bucket finished for her dear lover.
Charlie's eyes lit up but as his mother gave him a neatly wrapped item and the bucket family huddled around him, his shoulders dropped "maybe I should wait till morning" he muttered.
"Like hell."
"Pops" Mr Bucket scolded Grandpa George.
"Together were 381 years old, we don't wait" Grandpa Joe tried persuading.
Charlie looked over to Juliet.
She nod her head with a reassuring smile. "And while you're at that, open this one too, just in case" Juliet sheepishly laughed as she handed him her chocolate bar. Charlie grinned at her and said his thanks.
He took a deep breath and slowly unwrapped the first gift to find a Wonka Bar.
As luck would have it, Charlie didn't end up getting the golden ticket in that particular wrapping but that didn't stop him from thinking about his family as he decided to share the bar with his family.
He opened the other and again, no ticket and again, He shared it. Throughout it all, the boy still smiled as he was happy to be with his family.
Juliet truly loved this boy, he was everything she hoped her child would be like.
The family said their goodnight soon after and as Juliet and Charlie went up to their room, Juliet pulled Charlie into a strong, tight, hug which led the young boy to give in to his emotions and cry softly into her shirt.
"Sh Sh Sh, it's okay Charlie, there's still time and I bet if you have enough faith and really hope, you could still get a ticket" Juliet soothed and smiled down at the boy.
The two eventually drifted off to sleep with Charlie still tucked safely in his sisters arms.
