Ch 6

Patton's POV
Patton fell asleep almost immediately once he changed into his pjs and got in bed. He knew that tomorrow would be a big day in figuring things out, so for now instead of fighting the sleepiness, he embraced it(especially when his mother told him he needed to go to bed, that he needed to be well rested to help Virgil tomorrow)
He closed his eyes after grabbing his stuff animal(a cute dog, though his bed is littered with stuff animals) and fell into blissful sleep.

Patton didn't know where he was. It was warm and sunny. He was outside, it looked like he was in a park. There he saw a figure.

It looked like a small boy around 3 or 4 years old, all by himself. Patton got up from the bench he was sitting on and headed towards the boy.

As he got closer he could tell that the boy was very pale, yet he had two rosy cheeks and some freckles. He had messy dark brown hair that hung in his face. The small boy was laying down now, laughing at something.
"Hello?" Patton asked as he was finally next to the boy
The boy stopped laughing and sat up
"My name is Patton, what's yours?" Patton asked as he sat down across from the young boy. He could clearly see the boys face, he looked so familiar, but Patton for some reason couldn't remember.
"You know who I am Patton."
"What!?"
Patton was shocked now, the young boy looked familiar, his brown eyes seemed to stare into Patton. Patton started back, trying to come up with the name he so desperately couldn't remember.

That's when it hit him...

Virgil

The boy looked just like Virgil, just younger.
The boy, young Virgil, gave him a big smile and jumped up, pulling Patton with him.
"Can I see your wings?" The young boy asked
Why?"
"Because mommy and daddy don't have them and they don't like letting me see wings."

Patton was shocked, how could parents do that to a small boy. Patton looked behind them and noticed his wings were hidden.

"Sure, but what about your wings? Have you seen them?"

The boy was happy that Patton agreed to show him his wings, but soon that big smile turned into a small frown.

"No, they don't like that. Can you show me?"

Hope filled his eyes, Patton smiled then asked young Virgil

"Is there a good spot? Maybe with a mirror?"

Young Virgil nodded, excitedly and grabbed Patton's hand and soon the surroundings changed.

They were now in a big room. On one wall was a mirror that took up almost the whole wall. Both Patton and Virgil, hand in hand, were staring into the mirror.

Patton had no clue how to show his wings, that were still somehow hidden.

"Just think of them."

Patton was shocked, surprised of the boy next to him.

Patton took a deep breath in, closed his eyes and thought of his wings.

The beautiful dark blue that radiates too an almost white. His parents telling him they looked like the sky, they calmed everyone.

He heard Virgil gasp, he opened his eyes and there they were.

Virgil had a shocked face, turning towards him

"Can I touch them?" Virgil asked in almost a whisper

"Yes, you can."
Virgil smiled and started to touch them.
They stayed like that for awhile.

"What about your wings?"
Virgil looked up at Patton, a look of fear on his his face.

"I'm scared"

Patton got down to his level, looking into his eyes

"It's ok, it's completely fine if you are scared, but I will always be here for you. I will always try to be there for you."

"You promise?"

"I promise."

Virgil gave a small smile and soon two wings were on his back.

Patton was in shock and gasped at the beauty of the wings, in no way were they even close to the wings Patton saw earlier.

"They're beautiful!" Patton exclaimed.
Both Patton and Virgil stared into the mirror, still holding hands. Soon things sifted and they were soon outside again.

"Bye Patton!" Young Virgil exclaimed running away, Patton standing in place watching the young boy run in the distance, his wings still behind him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Patton woke up confused as to where he was. He knew it was only a dream, but it felt so real.
Patton has always had very vivid dreams, so as a child he kept a journal next to his bed so he could always write/draw what happened in his dreams.
Patton started to draw young Virgil, the wings being the majority of it. He worked so hard to find the perfect colors and right shades.
After he was happy with the drawing, he wrote the dream down. Once Patton was done, he took a picture of his drawing and ran downstairs to both of his parents talking at the kitchen table.(the whole thing took at least an hour)
"Can I go visit Virgil?"
His parents looked at him, they were to engrossed in their conversation to really realize that Patton came downstairs. They decided to let Patton stay home after what happened yesterday. Patton's mom stood up, a big smile on her face, "maybe later sweetheart, but first breakfast."
He nodded and sat next to his father.
His father told Patton how he didn't have to go to school for the next few days. He then also helped with breakfast, spending time as a family, something that Patton thought, Virgil has probably never experienced.
