Chapter 21 - Marcus Pierce

Chapter 21
Marcus Pierce

"So am I going to figure out why you are naked?" Blaine asks me as his eyes scan my body down to my feet. I look at myself and blush – this was mainly because of Nigel. If he wasn't being unknowingly cute, I would have been in the right state of mind. But no, he always does that. Being cute and all and, ugh, I just want to claim him as my mate. But he needs time. I need time. He's not ready yet to know about the real me. For now, I should stick with my plan. Basically make him fall in love with me, enough that he wouldn't get scared and would like to accept me for who I am. "Don't bother. Good thing I have my backpack here. I've got a pair of shorts and jersey, so that should be fine."

Werewolves are not really ashamed when other people see their junks, or when other see them naked. But what we are conscious about is, just like what happened earlier with Nigel, I thought about he was liking me and my junk. Because really, what our mates think matter. We want to satisfy them as much as we can, as much as possible. So when Nigel was looking at my junk, I couldn't help but be bothered about how he was liking what he was seeing.

My buddies have already seen me naked and never once I got shamed for it. When we were kids, when we became teenagers. We've seen each other's junks and nobody gave a damn about it. So don't be surprised if I have no reaction to other people seeing me all naked. The only reason I blushed was because of Nigel and how he's basically messing me up.

Nodding at his offer, he unslings his backpack and grabs the pair of shorts and green jersey shirt. Blaine gives it to me and I thank him, glad that he has these clothes that aided my situation right now. As much as I want to publicly display myself naked, the only one who is deserving to see me in all my naked glory is my mate and nobody else. In fact, I feel like I'm already cheating on Nigel with Blaine. I mean, I don't have any feelings for him – other than feelings for a friend, and neither does he for me. With that, I quickly dress myself and forgetting that I should wear underwear first. People wouldn't notice that I'm not wearing any underwear, so that's fine. But Blaine is laughing silently. I frown and shot him a glare, but that doesn't stop him from laughing. He pretends to cough and looks behind his shoulder just to hide the smile etching on his lips, but I just roll my eyes to it.

The shorts are kind of tight on me, as well as the shirt, but I can manage. Thankfully I can still breathe okay and normally. Once done fixing myself, I turn to look at Blaine who has turned serious. Well, that escalated quickly. One moment he was teasing me about being naked and not wearing any underwear, and now he's so serious.

The tension now is thick. I feel the heaviness Blaine is carrying. I know it has to be something important. For a moment, the wind only speaks but even I feel something different in the winds. Something is off and danger is coming. Danger always comes. We just have to be always ahead of it and be prepared in case things don't go your way.

If things don't go right, my buddies have my back and the entire pack. So really, messing with us is basically anticipating your own death. Bloody death. So nope, if I were them, I wouldn't dare to fight us. Because that's how deadly and awesome we are.

Blaine remains silent. But with the silence he's giving, I realize that danger is really coming to us. It's finding us. He starts to walk away and I start to follow him. Truthfully, having no underwear is a good feeling, but it's also kind of weird. I mean, my junk is free and it's cold, but I'm used to wearing one. The only time I get to take my underwear off is when I take a bath or any unforeseen circumstances. Nonetheless I try to ignore the weirdness. I take a deep breath and just continue to follow Blaine. Once we are farther away, he turns to me and sighs, as if this is all exasperating to him. He takes a seat on the grass and shuts his eyes. I do the same thing.

"We all need to be careful, especially you and Nigel." Blaine says, sounding scared. He looks to his left and right, as if in any moment, someone would just jump in and tear us. I furrow my brows, a bit confused of what he's saying. Of course we all need to be careful. We're being careful. "Earlier, rogues were searching the perimeter of the school. It looked like they were searching for something, or someone. I figured that they knew something. They know something."

The hair in my arms rise. The rogues were in the school, which means that a lot of werewolves and humans were in great danger. Rogues are feral, deadly, and they are full of hatred. But they are unlike Blaine. But still, knowing that the rogues were just around the school looking for something, the school has become a dangerous place for us. For Nigel. I first my hand, wanting to break something – you know, just to release this anger. I've got this feeling that they know that I'm in the school and is wanting to something – my mate. Of course it has to be that. What else would they go for the school? Once they found out that they are correct, Nigel will be their primary target. That's the best way for them to hurt me. I'm a Guardian. So I have to do my job. Protect the werewolves, Nigel, and my family.

Blaine runs his hand across his hair, frustrated at the situation we are in. He knows my job and the important role I play in this universe, and he also understands that I have to protect my mate. My life is basically fucked. But I need every help that I can get to get through with this shit. I have to report this to the Great Alpha and alert everyone. That's the best move I can think of as of the moment. Once they have been alerted, my buddies will do everything they can just to protect my mate. But there's one thing... that would expose my mate to my world, and my fellow werewolves would know that my mate is a human, a mortal. They would think that he shouldn't be part of my world. But what about Dave, Perry's mate? He was a mortal who had been granted to have a wolf and is now considered as part of the family. The Great Alpha – Cloud, my best bud – will know what to do.

"I think the other werewolves have noticed it as well," Blaine continues. "They just didn't go into action because they were in school, man. But I doubt those rogues will not come back. They will be back until they get what they came for. And when they come back, they will make sure that they'll get it. Marcus, your mate's life is in great danger. There's not much time. You have to put him to safety."

"Don't you think I don't know that?" I ask, irritated by the question. Blaine raises his hands up in surrender and lets it down. "But... he has yet to know who I am, what I am, what he is to me. I know I'm making progress in making him mine, but... you know that Nigel is not ready yet about everything. Nigel is... Nigel is... he'd freak out. If I fuck this up, and if he thinks that I'm a monster, he'd run away from me as far as possible, and I can't risk that. Rogues are there. Rogues are just around us."

"You do know that I'm here, right?"

"Yeah, I know."

"So just go ahead and kidnap him. Take him to a safe place." Blaine purses his lips. I raise my eyebrow at him. It's like he wants to say something but doesn't really want to spill the beans. He bites his lower lip and that's when I glower down on him. "Okay, okay. I've found... something. You know I've been researching, right? I know that you know I've been trying to understand as to why werewolves are not allowed to have a human mate. We know the first part of the story – a werewolf that had a human mate, and that human betrayed everyone thus why hunters exist. But a question lies in there, don't you think?" His question makes me think hard. There should be a reason why the human turned against the werewolves, but that part of the story hasn't really been explored. "I keep asking the same question, Marcus. Why did the human turn against the werewolves? Why do Hunters really exist?"

"I... I don't..."

"Nobody knows that, Marcus." Blaine says skeptically. "But don't you think... don't you think that the situation you are in, having a human mate, don't you think it has anything to do with that? I know that you've been searching for a reason as to why you had a human mate instead of having a werewolf mate. I've got this feeling that..."

"That what?" I ask, urging him to continue.

"Nigel clearly serves a purpose in the relationship between mortals and werewolves, and other creatures." He states. "At least that's my theory, anyway. You and him, you should try to uncover the truth – a history that hasn't been written and declared. Along the way, I'll help you with that. But first, let's just think of the plan to put him to safety."

"You're right," I tell him, looking out into the direction of Nigel's house. From afar, I smell his scent. He just got off the shower. "Nigel has become my mate for a reason. And those rogues know what happened about the first werewolf that had a human mate. They know their story, and they something to do about it."

Blaine nods at me, hoisting himself up and removing the grass dirt on his butt and legs. Their story is still unclear to me, but I should find the truth and uncover it. Everyone is in great danger – not just me and Nigel. Literally everyone. Even humans. Like what Blaine said, first, put my mate to safety. I'm the Guardian, and they are after me. And I think they have a theory that my mate is a human. They should not know about that. But once they do, Nigel should have been in a safer place. I draw a heavy breath and nod at Blaine. In seconds, Blaine is already running and in his werewolf form, his backpack on his teeth. Without wasting more time, I run back to my mate while thinking how I should be able to put him into safety.
