Chapter Twenty-eight - The party

Y/N's P.O.V

"Oh my god, this place is amazing!" I exclaimed, making Peter laugh at me as we walked into the bit of the Stark Industries' Tower where the party was being held, my hand holding his arm as we walked into the already bustling scene.

"I forgot that you've never been here before." He chuckled as we looked around.

"Where do you work, Pete? Where's your office?" I asked.

"Well, I mean, my official office is on the floor above this one, but you know that I'm mostly on my patrols. My job here isn't actually my job." He shrugged, his voice lowered and his face closer to mine as we spoke so that no one would hear what he was saying. I bit my lip and looked up at him.

"Can we go up there? Can I see your office?" I asked. He looked at me.

"Baby, I don't know." He chuckled nervously and shook his head.

"Oh come on, Pete. It'll just be like that one time at the homecoming dance where you, MJ and I snuck away to the computer labs to watch a movie instead of staying at the dance. Come on, it'll be fun." I smiled and pulled on his arm like a child as I tried to convince him. He sighed, his eyes unsure as he looked around the room that was full of people and music, bodies already dancing together as others looked at the spread of food.

"Fine, okay, but we have to be quick-."

"Thank you!" I squealed quietly, making him chuckle and peck my lips before taking my hand and pulling me towards the elevators. Peter continued to look around to make sure that no one important would see where we were going as he pressed the button and the glass doors opened immediately.

"Come on." He whispered as he pulled me into them and pressed the button for one floor up. The glass box started to move, my eyes wavering as I saw the lit-up New York and Queens skyline from the elevator.

"It's absolutely beautiful, Pete." I shook my head.

"Trust me, angel, just wait until you see the view from my office." He commented. I looked at him excitedly, making him smile and nod as the elevator stopped and the doors opened. He took my hand again and pulled me along the dark and empty hallway, my heels barely making a sound against the carpet. My eyes widened as we approached the huge office that had completely see-through doors and walls so that you could look straight in. The really fucking fancy and huge office.

"This...this isn't your office." I scoffed, making Peter smile and look at me as he pushed the door open and led me in.

"It's nice, isn't it?" He chuckled.

"I'd use a lot bigger words than nice, but sure." I nodded, making him smirk as I looked to the windows. My eyes widened, my mouth falling open and my mind already mesmerised as I walked towards the wall of floor-to-ceiling windows.

"Oh my god." I whispered, my eyes wavering as they fell upon the Queens skyline again that was somehow even more beautiful from this angle. I pressed my hand against the cool material of the glass, my eyes darting around the scene and desperately trying to take in the thousands of light specks that were making up peoples' lives in the dark. And to think that only a year and a half ago, I could think of nothing worse than wanting to stay in the hellhole of a city that had turned out not to be so bad once the best thing about it came back.

"I don't think that I've ever seen something more beautiful in my life before." I mumbled and shook my head, Peter's arms curling around my waist from behind and his chin resting on my shoulder as I leant my body back into his.

"I see something more beautiful every day." He returned as he leant down and started to press his lips to my neck. I couldn't help but smile and bite my lip, tears pricking my eyes at how much love my whole body held for the boy as I looked over my shoulder at him. He returned my smile before leaning down and kissing me. I returned it, my eyes fluttering shut and my hand raising to hold his jaw and pull him closer as we kissed. I turned around in his arms, my hands properly holding his face and his hands gripping my waist as he deepened the kiss and slipped his tongue into my mouth. I couldn't help but giggle, making Peter smirk as he gently lifted me up and carried me to his desk before sitting me down on it as he stood in between my legs. We continued making out, my hands curling around his neck and pulling him closer as he leant over me so much that I was almost lying down on the desk as his hands gripped my hips.

"As much as I love where this is going...we should get back to the party." He mumbled in between kisses. I sighed and broke it finally, making him give me a sheepish smile as I looked at him.

"Yeah, you're right. There's plenty of time for sex when we both get home drunk tomorrow morning." I teased, making him laugh and nod as he took my hand and helped me stand from the desk before leading me back out of his office.

Peter and I walked back into the party, our fingers intertwined and music still thumping as people ate, danced, laughed and talked.

"Incoming." Peter warned, making me gulp and force a smile onto my lips as Tony walked towards us.

"Oh, hey, kids, I was wondering where you two had snuck off to. Did you enjoy seeing his office, Y/N?" Tony teased. My eyebrows furrowed, as did Peter's as we looked at each other and tried to figure out how he knew.

"We don't know what you're talking about-."

"The purple lipstick that's on your lips as well as hers is giving you away, Pete." Tony chuckled and nodded as he pointed at Peter's lips. The boy's eyes widened and I tried to stifle a laughter as surely enough, Peter's lips and skin around them were almost as purple as mine were.

"Shit, fuck." Peter mumbled as he turned away from Tony and started to wipe it off.

"Anyway, have fun, you two. Food and drinks are over there, sit on whatever table you feel like, it's obvious where the dance-floor is. Have fun, and Y/N, you look lovely." The kind man smiled.

"Thank you, Mr Stark." I chuckled, making him nod as he walked away.

"I guess that I should have checked that before we came back down, huh." Peter chuckled as we sat down at the nearest table.

"You're okay, he didn't mind. I'm pretty sure that he even found it funny." I reassured.

"Knowing Mr Stark, he found it hilarious and will be telling Happy and May about it within seconds." He teased, making me smirk and shake my head as a slow song started to play. Peter's eyes widened slightly.

"Oh, I love this song." He chuckled.

"Oh, yeah? Don't get any ideas." I teased. He bit his lip and looked at me before shaking his head.

"Come on, dance with me." Peter smiled as he stood up, catching my hand and pulling me up as he did.

"Pete, you know that I can't dance!" I laughed, though still allowing him to pull me onto the dance-floor with the other guests.

"I don't care, Mr Stark is dancing with Pepper, Happy is dancing with May-wait, why the fuck is Happy dancing with May-."

"Okay, I'll dance." I smiled as I gently took Peter's face and made him look at me instead of at Happy and May. He rolled his eyes playfully and gave me a small smile as he wrapped his arm around my waist and held my hand with his spare one as my other hand rested on his shoulder. I rested my head next to my hand, a small smile adorning my lips as he gently swayed us from side to side in time to the music. He leant down and gently kissed my head, making me look up at him properly. I placed my hand on his cheek, making him lean down and join our lips. I returned it, my eyes fluttering shut and my entire body in a state of utter bliss like this. Peter had been right to make us come here, he'd been right that we were in desperate need of this break. The entirety of the last year and a half had been making sure that he stayed on track with his recovery and didn't die, and then it had been occupied with our budding relationship trying to survive whoever was after us. It felt like the first time that I had breathed in all of that time, and Peter was my oxygen. He was what kept me alive. He broke the kiss but kept his lips hovering just above mine, making me smile and bite my lip as we looked into each other's eyes.

"I love you. So much." He scoffed and shook his head.

"I love you so much too, Pete. I've never not loved you. You've been my entire life, and I'm okay with that. You are my life." I nodded as I spoke with an almost inaudible voice.

"You are my life too, baby. It's crazy to think about how far we've both come in the last couple of years, but I wouldn't change any of it. Not even the addictions or the fights, or the nights spent on your sofa, too cold to even move. The entire journey has been incredible because it's been with you. And you know that I can never thank you enough for that." He mumbled, his gaze flicking between my lips and my eyes as a tear ran down his face. I shook my head and cupped his face again.

"You never have to thank me, Peter. You being you is thanks enough." I whispered. He smiled and bit his lip, making me return it as he leant down and kissed me again. I broke the kiss and rested my head back against his shoulder, a sigh leaving my lips and my eyes fluttering shut as the love of my life continued to gently sway me in his arms to the music. And I wouldn't have changed it for the world.
